Vikings Injury Report: Chris Cook Activated from IR

The Minnesota Vikings have activated cornerback Chris Cook
from the team’s injured reserved and placed him on its 53-man roster, the club
has announced.

G Mark Asper and TE Allen Reisner have been waived. CB Chris Cook activated to 53-man roster. #Vikings
— Minnesota Vikings (@VikingsFootball) December 22, 2012

Cook has been out for two months since suffering a broken
arm two months ago during an Oct. 25 contest against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Prior
to his injury the cornerback had totaled 31 tackles and no interceptions over
eight games.

While Cook will return to action today against the Houston
Texans, it remains unclear how many snaps he will see. Coach Leslie Frazier
said that the cornerback is sure to play, but it’s still a matter of how much
the Vikings will play him.

Inactives for the Vikings: OL Mark Asper, QB McLeod Bethel-Thompson, TE John Carlson, LB Audie Cole, WR Stephen Burton, S Mistral Raymond andWR Jarius Wright.
Mild surprise with Stephen Burton being out, as that means the Vikings will be going with only four receivers today: Percy Harvin, Michael Jenkins, Jerome Simpson, and Devin Aromashodu. Allen Reisner, who was brought up from the practice squad to fill the open space on the Vikings' roster left by sending Chris Cook to IR, is active for Minnesota.
Vikings add Asper, cut Brown, Bowman

After trimming back to 53 players Friday night, the Minnesota Vikings continued to put the finishing touches on their regular-season roster Saturday.

The biggest move was the completion of a trade first reported Friday night: The Vikings acquired third-year cornerback A.J. Jefferson from the Arizona Cardinals for what is reported to be undisclosed draft picks.

Jefferson, who went undrafted but caught on with Arizona in 2010, started seven games for the Cardinals last season and had one interception.

The Vikings entered Saturday with the NFL's third-highest waiver priority, and they picked up rookie offensive lineman Mark Asper, who had been cut by the Buffalo Bills. Asper, who is 6-foot-6, 319 pounds, was a sixth-round draft pick out of the University of Oregon.

To make room for Jefferson and Asper, the Vikings waived offensive lineman Pat Brown and defensive back Zack Bowman.

Finally, the team added four of Friday night's cuts to its practice squad. Running Back Jordan Todman, offensive lineman

Spotlighting the Buffalo Bills’ Interior Line Heading Into 2012 NFL Season

The Buffalo Bills had one of the best offensive lines in the National Football League last season, allowing a league-low 23 sacks. Most of that success has come from the likes of Pro-Bowl caliber interior linemen Andy Levitre and Eric Wood. The Interior portion of the line is just as important as the outside linemen, as they are forced to take on the big and physical defensive tackles that vie to collapse the pocket. So let’s take a look at how the interior line of the Bills stacks up.
Left Guard
Andy Levitre
Andy Levitre has quickly established himself as one of the best left guards in the National Football League, and has repeatedly earned high praise from ProFootballFocus.com, a website dedicated to football sabermetrics.
ProFootballFocus ranked Levitre as the ninth best pass protecting guard in the entire NFL, allowing just 48 quarterback pressures in 1,471 snaps. They also stated:
He is also proved essential to the Bills as a blocker in space, showing real quality while pulli...

Buffalo Bills reach deals with 6 of 9 draft picks

The Buffalo Bills have wasted little time locking up a majority of their rookie draft class by agreeing to contracts with six of their nine selections.

The deals were reached Thursday as the prospects reported for a three-day rookie minicamp that opens Friday.

The Bills reached agreements with their final six draft picks: fourth-round selections, Florida State linebacker Nigel Bradham and LSU cornerback Ron Brooks; fifth-rounders, Florida State offensive tackle Zebrie Sanders and TCU linebacker Tank Carder; as well as sixth-round pick, Oregon guard Mark Asper, and seventh-round selection Western Michigan kicker John Potter.

That leaves Buffalo with its top three picks unsigned, including South Carolina cornerback Stephon Gilmore, who was selected 10th overall. Unsigned prospects can participate in minicamps, but must be under contract before reporting for training camp.
