NBA Draft: Demarcus Nelson Would Do Well In Denver

A Duke Blue Devil, one of the best perimeter defenders in the country, a slasher, and a threat in the passing lanes. Who is it? Here's a hint, it's not Greg Paulus.

The player is Demarcus Nelson.

tcbailey24's College Basketball Team

With ESPN releasing their All American college basketball team today, I decided to create my own team of current college players. Now, my team doesn't have all the star players or the ones you would think would be on it or the most well known or popular players, but I guarantee if this team played any other All American Team, this team would be victorious every time just because I think they would complement each other really well. So without anymore waiting, here is my team:

Starters:
G-Sean Singletary, Virginia
G-Robert Jarvis, Oral Roberts
G-DeMarcus Nelson, Duke
F-Donte Green, Syracuse
F-DeJuan Blair, Pittsburgh

Bench:
G-Tyrese Rice, Boston College
G-Jerel McNeal, Marquette
G-Jack McClinton, Miami
F-Ryan Anderson, Cal
F-Robbie Hummel, Purdue

There is my team. If you think I missed anybody or you have a comment, they are all welcome.

Duke takes out Heels, hand them 2nd loss of season

Duke shot unbelievably well from behind the arc and did enough to limit everyone but Tyler Hansbrough to preserve an 89-78 victory over UNC tonight at the Dean Dome in Chapel Hill. Duke was led by resurgent shooting of PG Greg Paulus, who scored 18 points all on 6 of 8 shooting from three point land, while Jon Scheyer added 17 and Kyle Singler 14 pts and 10 boards. The Heels held leading scorer DeMarcus Nelson to only 13 points but were unable to get any contributions from anybody besides All-American Hansbrough's 28 points and 18 rebounds. Ty Lawson being out really hurt the team's offensive flow, as 3rd stringer Quentin Thomas scored 10 points but had 6 of the team's 20 turnovers. UNC looked totally out of sync when not feeding Hansbrough, and Wayne Ellington shot 3-14 while scoring only 8 points. Marcus Ginyard did step up, scoring 16 points and being more effective at the point that Thomas. The perimeter defense was bad, and the lack of offensive flow really hurt them even thought they outrebounded the Devils by a large margin.

Duke goes into Beast Mode, defeats UNC 89-78

The #2 Duke Blue Devils defeated the #3 North Carolina Wednesday night by the score of 89-78. Ty Lawson sat this one out and it appeared to cost UNC, who could not run as good as they could with his presence. Tyler Hansborough had 28 points, but a poor shooting night for Wayne Ellington (3-14 8pts.) was a major factor in the game. And another well balanced scoring night for Duke was a key for their victory. Duke now moves to 20-1 0n the year and UNC falls to 21-2.

Dukies win tough one against Maryland

The much despised Duke Blue Devils defeated Maryland at Maryland last night, thanks to a career high night by senior guard DeMarcus Nelson. Nelson scored 27 points and grabbed 8 boards to lead Coach K's team to a victory against one of their more bitter rivals in the ACC. Maryland fans have been infamous for making fun of former Duke guard JJ Redick and are some of the most animated in college basketball. Still looking forward to our matchup coming soon! Go Tar Heels!

Duke defeats Florida St. 70-57 thanks to Scheyer's 21 points

The Duke Blue Devils defeated the Florida State Seminoles last night thanks to 6th man Jon Scheyer's 21 points. The Seminoles made it a game until a 16-0 run by Scheyer led the Dukies to a win, despite having leading scorer DeMarcus Nelson held to only 7 points. Jason Rich scored 18 for the Seminoles but it wasn't enough to keep FSU alive.

How will Duke's basketball team do this year?

This team has 11 guys that can all play effectively in a game. They have Scheyer who is a great 6th man, one of the best in the country. They play some of the best defense in the country with their usual tough, get on the floor, menatllity. The weakness that really bothers me about the devils this season is heir size. The have Zoubek who is another good player off the bench as their only guy who plays in the low post. Lance Thomas is their starting center and I'm worried about he would be able to handle somebody like Hibbert, or Hansbrough in the middle. What do you guys think of Duke's team this year?

Damn Dukies win another easy one over Cornell

Honestly, will Duke play somebody? The Blue Devils were led by DeMarcus Nelson's 23 points and 8 boards and aided by Kyle Singler's 14 points and 8 rebounds to defeat Cornell 81-67. I can't wait to see the Devils face some ACC action like the Heels did today.
