Bengals Reach An Agreement With OG Mike Pollak

The Cincinnati Bengals signed free agent offensive lineman Mike Pollak on Friday.

A second-round pick of Indianapolis in the 2008 NFL Draft, Pollak started 41 games at guard over four seasons with the Colts before signing a one-year contract with Carolina prior to the 2012 campaign. He was placed on injured reserve by the Panthers in October after sustaining a shoulder injury following the season opener.

The Bengals also waived wide receiver Lavasier Tuinei, who spent a portion of last season on the Seattle Seahawks' practice squad before signing a futures contract with Cincinnati on Jan. 1.

Moments in time…The Seattle Seahawks week that was

Home sweet home
The Seattle Seahawks are finally back in the win column, after a big win at home against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.
This marks the start of a weaker second half of the season, and a chance for the Seahawks to make their move up the standings.
Read more about this here.
With the win on Sunday, the Seahawks are once again over the .500 mark, and are making head ways on the offensive side of the ball as well.
Two weeks in a row, the Hawks offense has come up with their best point total to date, meanwhile the defense has given up a lot more than they should at the same time.
Are we turning a corner in a different light too?
With that, I give you my top 10!
10: Not in our house Adrian
The Vikings came to town with the best running back in the league in tow, and even though Adrian Peterson scored twice, he just didn’t have enough to take over the game like the Vikings needed him to.
9: Seahawks Win!
30-20 was the final, and the Seahawks remain one of the toughest home teams to face up ag

Braylon Edwards made the Seahawks' 53-man roster, with the team waiving former draft picks Deon Butler and Kris Durham amid a flurry of moves to reach Friday's roster limit. Charly Martin also made the receiving corps for now, with promising speedster Ricardo Lockette let go. Among the notable names of players waived was quarterback Josh Portis, meaning the team will open the season with only two quarterbacks in Russell Wilson and Matt Flynn. Cornerback Phillip Adams, defensive end Pierre Allen, offensive lineman Paul Fanaika and linebacker Allen Bradford were also waived. Linebacker Korey Toomer was the only rookie draft pick not to make the roster. The undrafted rookies waived were: offensive linemen Kris O’Dowd and Rishaw Johnson, tight end Sean McGrath, wide receivers Jermaine Kearse and Lavasier Tuinei, linebacker Kyle Knox, defensive end Cordarro Law and safety DeShawn Shead.
Seahawks cuts: Five players who should stay! Five who should go!

Seahawks final roster cuts
When I was assigned this piece by my editor “Q“, he was pretty vague. I simply needed to come up with 5 players who would stay and 5 who would go from the Seahawks 2012 roster.
I could have taken the easy route and listed players like Earl Thomas and Lavasier Tuinei, but what fun would that be. I’m pretty sure I knew what he was implying.
Therefore I spent the last hour going through the roster, position by position, in an attempt to come up with the final 53 man roster.
I chose the same number of players per position as the Seahawks did to start the 2011 season.
Tight End
Clearly the top two players in this group are Zach Miller and Kellen Winslow. That left 3 players battling for one roster spot. As much as I want to see Sean McGrath beat out Anthony McCoy for that spot, I didn’t see enough from Sean to justify making that move.
Down the stretch Anthony really stepped up his game and made some difficult catches down the seam.
McCoy’s blocking skills at the tight

QB or not QB, That Is the Question

Someone has to say it, so it might as well be me: the Seahawks have their quarterback of the future, and his name is Russell Wilson. There, I’ve said it and I feel much better now. Why do I say this? There are several reasons. Let me break them down as follows.
1 – Size Doesn’t MatterIt has been stated in posting after posting, article after article, that Wilson was only playing against the second and third string defenses in the Tennessee and Denver games. But remember, he was also been playing with second and third string guys on his side of the ball. He has been protected by second and third string offensive linemen. He has been throwing to the second and third string receivers and tight ends. He has been handing the ball off to running backs who are vying to be backups. H...

Preseason Preview: Seahawks at Broncos
(Note: Mike and I will both be indisposed for this game, me because of work and him because he forgot to pack a television and a couple miles of coax and extension cord for his camping trip. I’ve got my VCR set to record (yes, VCRs still exist), but the usual after-game notes post will be delayed until I can sit down and watch it. Until then, feel free to chime in below with your observations.)
There’s a very good chance that the quarterback competition will end tonight. Last week, both Matt Flynn and Russell Wilson lived up to their billing, Flynn as the calm, decisive West Coast passer, and Wilson as the flashy young highlight reel in the making. Pete Carroll might not come out and say it, but a strong showing from them versus Denver will likely secure their spots at the top of the depth chart, with Flynn being the favorite to win top honors. Wilson still has an opportunity this preseason to earn the starting job this preseason, but he...

Camp update: State of the Seahawks 2012 UDFA rookie class

Undrafted Free Agents
Earlier today I weighed in with a 2012 NFL draft rookie report card after the Seahawks first game in the NFL pre-season.
These 6 guys are players who are looking to either impress the Seahawks enough to keep them or put enough solid performances on tape that some other team will be interested in giving them a chance.
For some this preseason will be the only taste of the NFL that they will every get to experience.
Don’t feel bad for them, I’d give my right arm for that experience.
Listed in Alphabetical order by last name
Rishaw Johnson #63
Rishaw Johnson attended California University, not to be confused with the University of California (Cal). He is a big dude but this rookie guard needs to find a way to stay on his feet, far too often he ends up on the ground and that is a really hard place to block from.
Cordarro Law will be looking to make an impact for the Seahawks this season. Photo: Seahawks.com
I was impressed by his awareness on the field when he does stay on his feet. It do

Preseason Game 1 Preview: Seahawks at Titans

Tonight, the spotlight will be on the quarterbacks. Matt Flynn, who will play the entire first half, will get his first chance to sew up the starting quarterback position, and Russell Wilson will show us what he can do when he takes over thereafter. Matt Hasselbeck will once again be playing in Seattle, albeit in a Titans uniform, and he’s currently waging a battle of his own for Tennessee’s starting gig against ex-Husky Jake Locker. In short, no matter who has the ball there’s a season’s worth of playing time riding on every pass.
But QBs aside, there’s going to be someone interesting to watch everywhere you look on the field. To that end, here’s a list of some of the more notable guys to keep an eye out for, broken down by position grouping for ease of reference (since most of these guys are new to the team, I’ve also included jersey numbers).

Top 5 Seattle Seahawks Disappointments in 2012

While Chris Chard posted yesterday about the top 5 Seahawks that are going to make a big change this year here, this will be the counter article of the top 5 Seahawks that will not show improvement, in my opinion. While the Seahawks have been cleaning out camp, and giving the boot to anyone not willing to buy into Pete Carroll’s system. There are still a few here in my opinion that will falter this year and be underwhelming. This article is purely my opinion and not a definite that will happen. I could be totally wrong, I have been many times before, but this is how I see it.

#5=- Dexter Davis. #58, DE. In just his 3rd year with the Seahawks, Davis hasn’t wowed anyone yet. Granted, Davis was a 7th round pick. We usually don’t expect a whole lot out of these guys right off the bat. With the recent additions of Jason Jones, and draftee Bruce Irvin, Davis doesn’t stand much of a chance if they have any kind of impact at all. At 6’1 244# Davis doesn’t really look the part of DE, but rather that

Seahawks wide receivers: Who starts opposite Sidney Rice in week 1?

Who steps up?
Heading in to the 2012 Seahawks NFL draft there were three big questions for me. First, where are we going to find more pass rush? Second and third in no particular order had to do with the linebacker position and then the 3rd and 4th option at wide receiver.
Well, I quickly found out that John Schneider and Pete Carroll shared the fans concern with regards to the pass rush as they drafted Bruce Irvin 15th overall in the first round of the NFL draft.
In the second round the Seahawks took Bobby Wagner, a linebacker out of Utah State who was another “surprise pick” if you listened to the talking heads at ESPN and on the NFL Network.
Just like that, after the first two rounds I was all over the draft boards, who could the Seahawks be looking at for the wide receiver position?
They have to know that they need help at the position, the production outside of Doug Baldwin in 2011 was putrid and it didn’t appear that they were close to knowing who the starters were going to be heading in to 2012 o
