The 26-year-old Massaquoi spent the last four seasons in Cleveland, catching 118 passes for 1,745 yards and seven touchdowns. He has averaged 14.8 yards a catch in his career.

He had 17 receptions for 254 yards in nine games last season while dealing with hamstring and knee injuries. He also endured multiple concussions during his four years with the Browns.

Banner Report: The Linebackers

You may remember back in 2010 (you know the last time there was a complete overhaul in Berea) we wanted to give incoming President Mike Holmgren a hand evaluating the roster. We are nothing if not equal opportunity. The Browns have a completely new group in charge this year. Joe Banner, Mike Lombardi, Rob Chudzinski, Norv Turner and Ray Horton take over a 5-11 team. They have plenty of important decisions to make about the roster between now and the 2013 NFL Draft. WFNY wants to offer our assistance with The Banner Position Reports.

Today, we kick things off with a look at the linebacking position. The Browns will be moving from Dick Jauron’s 4-3 to Ray Horton’s 3-4. Due to injuries and Bountygate suspensions, the 2012 linebacking corps was in a constant state of flux. The 2013 Browns will not only require more from the linebackers, but could potentially look like a completely reformed group when it’s all said and done.
What do we have on the roster, and what players might be avail...

Three reasons why the Lakers are screwed long term

Let's flashback to October for a moment, shall we? The Lakers had assembled a 'Super Team', bringing in future Hall of Famer Steve Nash, and the best center in basketball in Dwight Howard to go with Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol (plus MWP if you're into that sort of thing). More than likely four Hall of Fame players, and certainly four Hall of Fame talents playing together at once, seemed to assure the Lakers of being at the very least - competitive. Vegas was clearly impressed, listing LA as the 2nd most likely team to take home the NBA championship, behind only the Heat, and the favorites to win the Western Conference. It was a dream off-season for the Lakers. But the season itself has been a nightmare of epic proportions.

A 1-4 start led to the firing of coach Mike Brown, and after flirting with Phil Jackson, the team settled on Mike D'Antoni. That's a lot like flirting with Bar Rafaeli and settling on Rosie O'Donnell. The team has been streaky since, al...

Your Week 16 Early Games Open Thread

It’s a shame that the Jets and Jaguars already had their meeting this season, because right now would have been perfect for maximized levels of abject derpitude. Granted, there’s no Mark Sanchez starting because he already ensured he’ll be a backup somewhere else next season with a five-turnover performance last Monday night that bounced New York from marginal playoff contention. That said, these are two teams at rock bottom and yet still reeling. It would be both horrifying and delightful to see them go at it now.
As for the Jaguars: like many teams, they’ve embraced the use of iPads for storing playbooks. Unfortunately, the Jaguars forgot that once a player is no longer on the team that they should wipe the memory of that player’s iPad so he, y’know, doesn’t sign with another team and hand over the Jaguars playbook. Even though once Maurice Jones-Drew went down, all the “hand it to MJD and hope for the best” plays were nixed.

The Jags are a mess. They put their playbooks on som...

The Jaguars waived rookie receiver Kevin Elliott today and promoted offensive guard Austin Pasztor to the 53-man roster.
Elliott, who had played in every game on special teams and see up-and-down time at receiver, struggled in last week’s game against the Jets, dropping two passes and committing a fourth-quarter penalty.
In practice on Thursday, he was at the bottom of the depth chart, behind even practice squader Mike Brown. Source: Florida Times-Union

Jaguars rally for 32-31 win over Giants

Jaguars 32, Giants 31. With AP Photos. Even if it's the preseason, the turnovers still bother New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin.

The Giants had two fumbled punt returns in a 32-31 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Friday.

Both came inside the 10-yard line and led to 10 points by the Jaguars. Jayron Hosley fumbled the first punt, dropping the kick at the 2-yard line with 32 seconds left in the first half.

The Jaguars recovered and two plays later, Chad Henne connected with Brian Robiskie for a 2-yard score to cut the Giants' lead to 24-14 at the half.

Another mistake came in the fourth quarter when New York (No. 3 in the AP Pro32 rankings) was protecting a 31-21 lead. Jerrel Jernigan dropped Bryan Anger's punt at the 9-yard line with Antwon Blake recovering for the Jaguars.

Jacksonville got to the 5, but a 10-yard penalty pushed it back to the 15. The Jaguars had to settle for Josh Scobee's 29-yard field goal to cut the Giants lead to 31-24 with 7:19 left.

The Giants went three and out

Bump and Run Coverage: Marvin Lewis and the Cincinnati Bengals

While much of the debate around the Cincinnati Bengals this offseason has focused on questions concerning Andy Dalton’s arm strength and his offseason focus on improving his deep ball, not enough attention has been given to a head coach entering his lame duck contract year. Dave, you brought up what should have been the biggest offseason priority, securing Marvin Lewis. For a man that reversed the fortunes of a moribund franchise to become one that reached the playoffs for two of the past three years, why is there a hold up?

During negotiations for Lewis’s last extension, a two year deal signed last year, many believed that he had become fed up enough with owner Mike Brown to leave. He was interested in greater control over personnel, because players like Terrell Owens and Chad Ochocinco, aka Batman and Robin, hardly reflected his blue collar, workman like attitude and mantra of “do your job.” He had made it no secret that he wanted to build an organization similar to New England’s...

Lions' Ford ranks as one of the worst owners in the NFL

Despite a playoff appearance last season and a team that is by all accounts getting better, Lions owner William Clay Ford is still seen in the eyes of many as one of the worst owners in the NFL.

Last November, Forbes Magazine ranked Ford as the worst owner in the NFL mostly due to financial reasons however Ford is 27th on the list of Big Lead Sports’ Jason Lisk.

Lisk chose not to rank Shahid Khan (Jaguars) and Mark Davis (Raiders) since their time as an NFL owner has been brief as of yet. But, Ford comes in at No. 27 ahead of ahead of are Kansas City’s Clark Hunt, Cincinnati’s Mike Brown and Cleveland’s Randy Lerner.

Here is what Lisk has to say.

“Last year was great for the Lions. The previous 49 with the senior Ford in official ownership position, not so much with very few exceptions, and it’s hard to get the taste of the Matt Millen era out.
