Notable camp casualties

All NFL teams were required to pare their rosters down to 53 men this past weekend, and in doing so several notable names hit the open market.
Also still missing from an NFL roster: Shaun Alexander. His name has not come up lately and I have not heard of him making any visits to NFL teams. [...]

8/31 - Bruno Boys Newz and Fantasy Viewz

Oh, how another week just came and flew on by! I don't know about you, Bruno Boys Nation, but I can honestly admit that I am suffering from NFL fever! Until the Super Bowl is played and overwith, I am fully geared towards dominating in the fantasy football world and while I am not trying to speak for Bruno Boys Larry, but I know he is as well!

This week we will be discussing Shawne Merriman's decision to play and risk further knee injury, Peyton Manning looking more like his old self, Bryant McKinnie's suspension and how it will affect Adrian Peterson's value as well as J.T. O'Sullivan solidifying his starting QB role for the San Francisco 49ers. And, we would both like to remind you that if you have already drafted your team, don't just sit around and wait for your season to start. Follow the five steps that I wrote about in How To Improve Your Fantasy Football Team and of course keep checking in a few times daily to the Bruno Boys as we are constantly putting up new articles as well as prize offerings and the like. Trust in the Bruno Boys and believe me, you won't be steered wrong!

So nestle snugly into your computer chair, close the doors, and turn off the phones! It is time once again time for another edition of Newz and Viewz from two whacky, insane, Detroit Lions fans, Bruno Boys Larry and Bruno Boys Ziza!

Preseason Review: MVPs and The Last Roster Prediction

The preseason is over. Finally. 5 games is way too much. It is such a bitter sweet season. I'm watching the Colts, but I'm not watching the Colts play a real game with their best players, so I'm not really watching the Colts I know. It is fun to speculate on who will make the roster, but I

Roster Cuts & Injuries Mean…

A new roster prediction! Yeah!
In case you haven't heard, the Colts had to dump 5 players by today. The sad part is that two of them weren't cut but placed on the Injured Reserve.
TJ Rushing and Zac Herold both were placed on the IR today. Rushing hurt his right knee in the Buffalo game, and Zac

I can't even do a best player rundown. This game was that bad. The only notables were Devin Aromashodu with his one catch that went 94 yards for a score and Eric

Tonight, Lucas Oil Stadium will host its first NFL game. Sure, it's preseason, but it's still a milestone. Remember the first four years of the decade? We didn't know whether the Colts were going to be in Indianapolis for much longer. It seemed imminent that they would move to Los Angeles.

Indianapolis Colts - Under The Radar...And They Like It!

Expectations are high as usual for the Indianapolis Colts, but they aren't getting the press that other AFC heavyweights are getting. "There is a lot of cautious optimism in the region," said WPTA sports anchor Tommy Scheogler. "But overall, they think they are just as good as anyone in the NFL."

And they are, but injuries are a concern. Wide out Marvin Harrison is an eight-time pro bowler and all...

Colts Roster Updates On Madden

The first roster update for Madden was announced. There weren't very many changes, but the Colts did end up on there in some capacity. Here are the changes that were made:
FS Brannon Condren: Added to the roster
DT Quinn Pitcock: Retired
WR Marvin Harrison: Rating Up From 94 to 96
OLB Clint Session: Rating Up From 70 to 76
I still think that the roster will change some by the start of the season. Here are the changes that I think will end up being made:
QB Quinn Gray added, QB Jim Sorgi dropped
FB/TE Gijon Robinson added, RB Kenton Keith dropped
RT Corey Hilliard dropped, DT Eric Foster added
DE Jeff Charleston dropped, DE Curtis Johnson added
RB Mike Hart's rating up
WR Pierre Garcon's rating up
WR Devin Aromashodu's rating down
OG Jamey Richard's rating up
DE Marcus Howard's rating up
DE Josh Thomas' rating down
OLB Tyjuan Hagler's rating down
MLB Philip Wheeler's rating up
CB Dante Hughes' rating up
Those are all I got so far. As we get further into training camp, the easier it will be able to tell who and who won't make the roster. They've said that they will release an update every other week. Hopefully they will be accurate. There will be more releases than last year, so there is no excuse for bad ratings.

Colts versus Panthers Preview

The Colts were impressive last week against Washington, but this game will show whether that was a fluke or if some of these players really are going to be contributors. Mike Hart, Quinn Gray, Pierre Garcon, and Eric Foster were the top players against Washington. If they can repeat their success, they will be shooting up the depth chart and clinch a roster spot. This is Week 1 of the preseason, but it feels like Week 2 since we played the Hall of Fame Game. I was wondering why I couldn't find the Panthers' first preseason game's score.
Players To Watch
Mike Hart, Preseason Stats-4 carries, 53 yards, 3 receptions, 28 yards: Hart was amazing in his first game. He touched the ball eight times. He averaged 10.1 yards per touch. Hart almost scored a touchdown on the last play of the game, where he went out at the one yard line. Hart will be used as a short yardage back, but the way he played, ten yards was short for him. He di not go down after the first hit. He may not look great in training camp, but he plays great in games. We knew that coming in. I don't know why people thought he may only make the practice squad.
Pierre Garcon, 4 receptions, 33 yards, 1 kick return, 51 yards: At the beginning of OTAs, the team said Pierre Garcon would not be a returner. Well, they changed their mind, and Garcon proved that he can return. His return late in the fourth quarter was great, but he should have tried to score instead of stepping out of bounds. Garcon made some athletic catches and ran great routes. He looked like a future star. If he can continue to play well, he could be the fourth receiver.
Quinn Gray, 19 passing attempts, 10 completions, 160 yards, 1 TD, 0 INTs, 2 carries, 11 yards: The recently signed QB outplayed Jim Sorgi and Jared Lorenzen by far, and he caught everyone's eye. Gray did not let pressure get to him, and he was able to throw accurate passes on the run. For a backup QB, I'm not looking for who has the best arm or the most time in the system. I'm looking for someone who could come in if Peyton got hurt, the backup can come in and lead the team to victory. Gray's drive that resulted in a touchdown showed his ability to improvise when the pocket breaks down and lead a team down the field. If Gray can have a QB rating over 90, he will make the roster. Sorgi or Lorenzen would have to play like Marino, Manning, and Montana combined to make the roster.
Marvin Harrison, Did Not Play: Marvin has been cleared to play. Now we can see all of our wide receivers play. Harrison will be the number 2 receiver, and nothing will change that. However, he played poorly in the playoff game last year. I want to see if he is still a little rusty or if he is back to normal. By September 7th, it won't matter. He will be back to normal no matter how he plays in this game. I just want to see how well his knee has healed.
Marcus Howard: In the last game, Marcus Howard had 1.5 sacks. The half sack resulted in a fumble, and the full sack was made while he was being held. Howard looked very fast in the first game, but he also showed some strength. On third downs, Howard could make a lot of appearances. If he can continue to show a mix of speed and strength, he will get a lot of sacks on those third downs.
