Another Potential Bears O.C., Weis, Martz and now ...

There is a constant theme of comments being left on the threads of the series I'm doing looking at possible new offensive coordinators for the Bears. Many are wondering, why hire a new OC instead of a new coach. And some are even looking for a complete overhaul, from GM on down.
At this point in the season, even with as bad as things have gone, I still don't see them launching Lovie Smith. It's not in the character of the franchise to eat a contract ...

Enemy Flashback Video; New Orleans Saints

This series has had its share of surprises. a bit of surprise when we handled the Saints week 2 of 2007, of the brilliant last second win at the Superdome with a Jon Gruden GO FOR IT on 4th down. Last second losses to spoil Bruce Gradkowski's debut, and Brian Griese's heroics to replace Chris Simms' first start...

Relive them all Right here!

Top Football Broadcasters: ARV Edition

You've seen the Sporting News Top 25 Football Broadcasters list, compiled by a group of knowledgeable and well respected members of the football media.

We wanted to do a rebuttal with the list's glaring omissions, but frankly, there aren't many, if any. So we thought it best to add a few more names -- we'll call it Also Receiving Votes -- that should be part of the football booth conversation.

First, we do have some quibbles with the order in which the panel of Spor...

Yes that was today, 4 years ago! If you read this mornings NFL piece, the Miami game in Miami is the scheduled 'rematch' for that game. It was the final game for the efficient Brian Griese who got the Bucs to 4-0 on the year, and 4-1 all together. The Bucs were in command when Griese had his leg rol...

Most of the greats were there, but the 2004 defense was struggling to recover from the loss of Sapp and Lynch, at least as far as their positions were concerned.

Brian Griese Cut from the Bucc’s… Is this a Viable Option for the Lions?

This of course hinges on how delusional Griese may or may not be at this point; I, of course, feel that Griese is a perfect candidate for the clipboard. He’s an ideal 3rd slot guy. He never really made a dent professionally, but he does have plenty of field experience and can perhaps serve as a decent mentor to our young bucking bronco, Matt Stafford.
Let’s face it, Drew Stanton is a refugee from another regime right now. He was a Mike Martz project who was hurt and lost his field...

Buccaneers Dump Veteran QB Brian Griese

The Buccaneers usually carry about 10 QB’s on their roster as training camp rolls around (or so it seems), but those times may be changing with new head coach Raheem Morris in charge, as today the team parted ways with veteran QB Brian Griese.
The announcement came oddly enough at the bottom of the press release [...]

Bucs Ink Third Round Draft Pick And Release Brian Griese

The Buccaneers came to terms this morning with third round draft pick Roy Miller, a defensive tackle from the University of Texas.
According to Profootballtalk.com, Miller’s contract included a $770,000 signing bonus as well as a base value worth $2.52 million, which includes minimum base salaries of $310,000, $395,000, $480,000 and $565,000. They also reported that the contract could be boosted significantly by a fourth year escalator clause.
In my guestimation, Miller has a chance t...

Griese Not Planning To Retire?

In response to our item from earlier today that Bucs quarterback Brian Griese is seeking non-football opportunities and, thus, contemplating retirement, a source with knowledge of the situation refutes that Griese is thinking about quitting.
Of course, Griese’s supposed plan to keep playing doesn’t really mesh with the fact that he didn’t show up for a [...]

Double Cornerback Blitz!!

I'm almost half way through my 10th year in the NFL and one of the rare calls I hear in the huddle is a "double corner blitz". When I heard that call, me and Dre' Bly look at each other like "you better get to Brian Griese before I do." With another chance to get my second career sack, I had a wide open path to the QB because Dre' was picked up by the running back.... but the QB gave one little pump fake, it caused me to stutter step... although I did knock Griese down, I still missed out on that sack. I kind of hated he had to leave the game following the big hit because we felt our defense had him figured out. Oh well, we still got the "W"!!!

Until nextime... TooFo is GONE!!

Devin Hester Is The Best Return Man Ever -- And I Should Know

The punted ball toppled harmlessly -- or so it seemed -- onto the Tiger Stadium turf. A group of Cincinnati Bengals surrounded it, waiting for it to stop moving, to make the expected final downing. Then in that moment, when time stopped, along with all the football players' feet, Lemuel Barney snatched the pigskin up from the ground and took off running with it.

Before the stunned Bengals punt cover team could react, Barney was in the end zone, some 60 yards from where he stole the foo...
