McNabb Wins MVP!

I'm so proud of my mom. She just won an MVP award! Recently Eddie George came up with the NFL Moms Weight Loss Challenge. They competed as teams to see who could lose the most weight. Well, my mom's team won and she was the MVP, having lost 40 pounds during the course of the 2007 NFL season. Congratulations Mom and all the other moms as well.

Here's a look at the press release…
Nashville, TN – Feb. 1, 2008: Eddie George, former all-pro running back and current media personality, recently wore a t-shirt on national television that read "I Love Hot Moms!" He surely does, and proved it by guiding 26 members of the NFL's Professional Football Mothers Association to over 200 pounds of weight loss and great lifestyle changes. The mother's will speak of their successes on his radio show on Monday.

In September of 2007, Eddie's company, EGX Lifestyle, challenged the moms to change the way they ate, cooked, and exercised. The moms were divided into teams representing the AFC and the NFC. Eddie then devised a 16-week program for them and personally worked them out and monitored them with the help of his staff of professionals. The Results? The NFC won the conference battle, judged by how much weight and/or percentage of body fat lost. However, both teams of ladies are now carrying the proud mantle of "Hot Moms," because they've been changed forever.

Constance Davis, mother of Anthony Adams (Chicago Bears), lost 51 pounds; Wilma McNabb, mother of Philadelphia Eagles Quarterback Donovan McNabb, won the MVP award for her hard work, dedication, and lost of 40 pounds; Mary Gurode, mother of Andre Gurode (Dallas Cowboys), got high-school skinny.

The most touching story came from Gladys Bettis, mother of retired NFL star Jerome Bettis. Through the EGX Lifestyle program, she lost over 30 pounds, and in the process, discovered a heart problem that was previously undetected. She ended up having quintuple bypass surgery, a life-saving procedure that may not have been found had she not undertaken Eddie's program with vigor.

What's the Deal With Andre Gurode's Lion?

Matt Mosley at Hashmarks has an interesting post here about Terrell Owens' recovery. I think it's funny how Wade Phillips is playing games. We all know he'll be ready to play.

But the observant Mosley saw something else in the Dallas Cowboys locker room: a bizarre lion statue.

"The most interesting thing I encountered in the locker room was a huge statue of a lion sitting in front of center Andre Gurode's locker. I'll see if I can get to the bottom of that before the day is over."

Yes, Mosley, please do find out what this is all about. Gurode played college ball for the Colorado Buffaloes, so the Lion can't be some college mascot good-luck charm. Did former Detroit Lions player Kyle Kozier give it to him? I did a basic Google search and couldn't find a connection. Whoever accurately knows the connection will get a free prize from me. Contest ends Wednesday afternoon at 1 p.m.

Defense Dominates Cowboys

Maybe Andy Reid is not so delusional.

The Eagles who are hanging on to their improbable playoff hopes by a tiny thread gave it their all today. There was no quit in this team. They did not just lay down, and get ready to golf. They came out ready to kick some ass, and they did. Especially the Eagles defense.

This was the most impressive defensive effort this team has had all season. They pressured Romo, hit him, and sacked him four times. Linebackers filled their gaps, and gang tackled Marion Barber. The defense intercepted Romo three times, and stripped the ball from him twice. The same guys who could not get off the field in the first Cowgirls match up, allowed only one third down conversion all game.

Albert Haynesworth's face stomp on a helmetless Dallas Cowboy

This picture doesn't do it justice, but with a little imagination you can wonder what it feels and looks like to have a 300 pound man drop his spiked foot on your face.

The Titans Albert Haynesworth was first penalized for the extra curricluar activities and finally thrown out of the game...after protesting the penalty. Unbelievable. The victim of Haynesworth's kick, Cowboys center Andre Gurode, who said that he had not spoken with Haynesworth all game and that the attack was unprovoked. Gurode needed over 30 stitches to close the cut on his face.

It appears the NFL is mulling over a 3-4 game suspension, the most in league history for an on the field incident.

The Sports Frog also links to several other articles...SI's coverage, Albert Haynesworth's 'Road Rage' episode (surprising), and the man who bodyslammed Jim McMahon and received the longest suspension in league history for such an act (2 games). All are good reads.

Just a thought...did someone really have to go out of their way to bodyslam Jim McMahon in order to force him to leave the game with an injury?

Haynesworth crushes Cowboy player's face

Albert Haynesworth, in Marcus Vick fashion, stomped on a Dallas Cowboys player without a helmet on. The resulting cut from Haynesworth's cleats on the player's face required several stitches above the eye and forehead. The resulting suspension, around 4 games, would be the longest suspension resulting from an on-the-field incident since 1986. Check out the video replay on ESPN.com, the link is below.
