The Jaguars have one of the worst statistical run defenses in football. The Chiefs did little to try and exploit it last week, running only 12 times. Part of this was due to them playing from behind. The Jets are going to test Jacksonville's new 4-3 base defense much more up front.
Jacksonville hopes its strength will come from up the middle and tackles John Henderson and Terrance K...

Browns LB D'Qwell Jackson gets big a shout-out; Jags DT John Henderson gets a big call-out. For better and worse, Pete Prisco goes team to team nailing a most overrated and underrated player for each.

Jaguars’ Henderson Still Sidelined

The disagreement between Jacksonville Jaguars defensive tackle John Henderson and coach Jack Del Rio continues to fester, according to Vito Stellino of the Florida Times-Union.
Henderson isn’t practicing due to an injury that he has described as a Grade 2 shoulder sprain, which Del Rio has characterized as only a “minor bruise” that would, in his words, make [...]

Earlier this week, Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio called out defensive tackle John Henderson for missing offseason workouts due to minor shoulder injury.
On Thursday, Henderson responded.

Henderson says injury real, wants to play for Jags

Two-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle John Henderson wants to make it clear: He's not faking an injury, he's committed to the Jacksonville Jaguars and eager to return to form.

Henderson missed his third consecutive practice Thursday because of a dislocated shoulder, an injury coach Jack Del Rio questioned earlier in the week.

Henderson insisted the injury is legit and said he and Del Rio worked out their differences in a private meeting.

NoLogoNeeded NFL Mock Draft Pick 8

Pick eight is now on its way…
With the eighth pick, the Jacksonville Jaguars select:
***B.J. Raji, DT, Boston College***
According to DraftCountdown.com:
The Jags still haven’t adequately replaced Marcus Stroud so B.J. Raji could be an intriguing option at defensive tackle alongside John Henderson.
The Green Bay Packers are on the clock.
Yes, PackerLand, we are now on the clock.

John Henderson tries the eye gouge on Andrew Whitworth

So we now know that the Jacksonville Jaguars John Henderson likes to play and fight dirty. In yesterday's loss to the then win-less Bengals, Henderson got into an altercation with Cincinnati lineman Andrew Whitworth. Instead of, I don't know handling like a man, he goes and tries to gouge out the eyes of Whitworth. Pretty scary watching a 6? 7?, 300 pound man trying to do that to another human being.

I guess when you have a pregame ritual like this, you don;t know what to expect.

The Sponge

The big difference between training camp and OTAs is that everyone is much more serious now. There is a sense of urgency from everybody. Practice is set up the same way OTAs, but now we're going two-a-days, full pads, 1/2 pads, shells, hats and cleats. Yesterday we went out just in hats - like baseball hats. From the first days of OTAs to first day of camp is a huge difference. I am much more confident in what I'm doing and where I'm supposed to be. I am more comfortable in the setting and I know the guys. It's a better feeling.

After having that month off after OTAs everyone is re-energized and excited to get going. I'm working with the third team right now. I expected to start at the bottom and work my way up. I expected to get an opportunity to come in here and work and compete and when it's all done see where the cards lay. I am trying to talk to the vets as much as possible... the 10-year, 9-year, even 2nd-year guys to see what they went through as rookies. I want to be a sponge and pay attention to everything and I definitely watch extra film.

One of the most interesting things to me is just how knowledgeable the vets are about the game. I have always studied hard and felt like an expert but when you get around these guys you realize how much more you have to study if you really want to be an expert. These guys are 9s and 10s on a scale of 10 and I'm maybe a 2.

Guys like Fred Taylor and Mike Peterson and John Henderson - guys I've been watching on TV for the last few years. I ask them a lot of questions and the way they look at things and perceive things have been very enlightening. They have been very helpful.
