The Booker Story: One Man's Garbage Is Another Man's Garbarge

So I was reading up on the happenings of an NFC East rival and I came across the following bit regarding Lorenzo Booker. It seems that every Eagles' fan favorite whipping boy was in for a look-see with the G-Men. After watching Booker's tenure in Philly it's not surprising that Booker left without a new deal. The Giants liked Gartrell Johnson better. (So who has the better ex-Charger as their 3rd RB, the Eagles or the Giants?)So it looks like another day on the unemployment line fo...

Shady McCoy Still #29

When LeSean McCoy joined the Eagles after being drafted, he was given the #29 to wear, as the number he wanted was in use by Lorenzo Booker. After final cuts, with Lorenzo Booker no longer on the team, McCoy went to the Eagles and asked if he could switch his number to the now vacant #25. The Eagles had no problem with this, and last week McCoy came out in practice wearing a new #25 McCoy jersey, the number McCoy wore at the University of Pittsburgh. However, later in the week the NFL disallo...

Eagles Finalize Practice Squad

The Eagles have filled out their eight-man practice squad. Jack Iguana, Marcus Mailei, Reshard Langford and linebacker Jeremy Leman. Iguana still intrigues me. A year away from football clearly hurt him this summer. Maybe another offseason will get him right.
In other news, with Lorenzo Booker kicked to the curb, Shady McCoy has changed his number [...]

Bye, Bye Booker

Second chances. It's been a theme during the Eagles 2009 off-season. I'll spare you another Vick post and instead focus on another Eagle who was given a second chance. Hopefully Vick has better luck then Lorenzo Booker with his second chance.Chance one was being selected in the 3rd round by the Miami Dolphins. This chance was wasted when he couldn't manage to crack the starting line-up or contribute significantly to a 1-15 Dolphins team. But one man's garbage is another man&#3...

In a previous post I mentioned that I'll be watching the play of Winston Justice on Thursday night. What else in there to watch in preseason game #1? Here are a few additional players / situations to keep an eye on as we welcome back Eagles football. 1 - As with Winston Justice the training camp reports have been positive for Lorenzo Booker. The kid has been finding the holes, making the tacklers miss, and then breaking the big play. But hold the excitement. I remember reports last trainin...

Battle Of The Backs: LeSean McCoy Vs. Lorenzo Booker

The battle for the number two running back spot on the Eagles’ roster appears to be rookie LeSean McCoy’s to lose. However, if you ask running back Lorenzo Booker, the job is rightfully his.
Popular belief in and around the NovaCare Complex is that McCoy is the backup to Brian Westbrook and the slated heir apparent. All signs point to McCoy taking on the workload as the number two running back.

Setting The Bar Low

The Eagles need to draft a RB this off-season. You know it, the mock drafts are showing it, now we just have to hope the Eagles make it a reality.
Philadelphia Eagles 3-Headed Backfield Ready to Roll

The Philadelphia Eagles will be running circles around defensive lines this season with their own version of a 3-headed monster. Brian Westbrook, Lorenzo Booker, and Corell Buckhalter will offer up a variety of running styles set tp keep defenses on their tows.....and most likely on their backs. Obviously, Westbrook will lead the charge, but Booker has already pushed Buckhalter to number 3 on the head chart. Plus, quietly speaking, we all know Westbrook's chances of finishing a season com...

Lorenzo Booker Is Our Kick Returner

"He's got really good speed up the field," Rory Segrest said. "He can see the creases there. Same thing from a running back position - he knows how to read the scheme, he knows where to be and he's got the ability to get there."

Looks like Lorenzo Booker is our man at kick returner. Hopefully the elusiveness he showed yesterday in breaking the 60 yard TD carries over the special teams unit. It will be nice to have a returner that doesn't run straight into co...

AZ Workouts

Just wanted to check in from Arizona again. I've been out here this week working out with a few guys including Brian Dawkins, LJ Smith, Jason Avant, Hank Baskett and Lorenzo Booker.

We have been getting after it from sunup to sundown. We start at Fischer Sports, a place I have been working out at most of the offseason. Brett Fischer ? an Eagles fan from Bucks County - is a physical therapist, certified athletic trainer and strength and conditioning specialist. He has helped me through what he calls functional training. We mimic the motions that we use on the football field. For me it might be an emphasis on using my abdominals, hips and lower body to create torque when I throw the ball. For some of the other guys it might be trying to get explosion out of their cuts.

A few of us are coming off injury and that is Brett's specialty. We get great care from our trainers in Philadelphia but Brett has some different methods for rehabilitation and I know that my body has reacted well to it. His staff has also set us up with nutritional counseling providing organic meals and snacks for the week.

Like most trainers today, Brett believes in the many benefits of core strength. In fact, he developed the AB Dolly and some people recognize him from the infomercials. We've been using the AB Dolly all week in many of our core exercises. If you want one check out this site - http://fischer-sports.com/ABdolly.html

I'll check back later this week and let you know more about our workouts.

Donovan McNabb not happy about Eagles offseason moves?

Uh oh, here we go again. Donovan McNabb was interviewed at minicamp by Paul Domowitch, and this was his response to the question of whether he was happy with the Eagles offeason moves:

"It wasn't to my liking. It's hard to put pressure on these young guys coming in. You wouldn't throw them into the fire like that. I think it's good that we have the (other) guys back healthy and we all can get out there, and those young guys can kind of contribute where they can. But fo...

Eagles acquire RB Lorenzo Booker

The Eagles have acquired running back Lorenzo Booker from the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins will get the Eagles fourth round draft pick for the veteran running back. Booker was a third round pick by the Dolphins last year, and he rushed for 125 yards on 28 carries in 2007. He was mostly a third down back last season for Miami, catching 28 passes for 237 yards.

I have no idea how the Eagles plan on using Booker. They don't really need a running back with pass-catching ability, they alrea...
