Wonderlic Me!

Sitting in living rooms, kitchens, and agent's offices across America at this very moment are around 1000 players who have been poked, prodded, and pranced over the past few months trying to determine whether or not they're draft material. 255 of those 1000 will be deemed worthy tomorrow and Sunday. One test will weigh heavily on the minds of GMs and coaches throughout the NFL: The Wonderlic.

The Wonderlic is a 12-minute, 50-question quiz designed to test the general IQ of potential NFL meat. A perfect score is 50. To date, there has only been one football player to score a 50 on his Wonderlic assessment, Pat McInally of Havard University who went on to become a Pro-Bowl punter.

Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, also from Harvard University, was also believed to have scored a perfect 50. This claim was eventually proven to be false and he was outed as having a still excellent score of 38.

On average, NFL players' Wonderlic scores are as follows:

* Offensive tackle - 26
* Center - 25
* Quarterback - 24
* Guard - 23
* Tight end - 22
* Safety - 19
* Linebacker - 19
* Cornerback - 18
* Wide receiver - 17
* Fullback - 17
* Halfback - 16

NFL Free Agents (Quarterbacks)

There's not whole lot to talk about when it comes to free-agent quarterbacks, but there are a couple who can and will make a difference during the 2008 season. The real NFL season starts March 1st as these free agents will one way or another find themselves in a new situation.

From a fantasy perspective never overvalue any free agent unless they're re-signing with there current team.

Drew Henson: "This Tom Brady stuff kinda sucks"

Well it's finally Super Bowl Sunday which means we no longer have to watch interview after interview with Tom Brady and read multiple profile pieces on Randy Moss, Bill Belichick, Eli Manning and Tom Brady's boot.

But during this crazy week leading up to the game, after passing on one-on-one sitdowns with chumps like Brady and Michael Strahan, we had an interesting chat with former hyped-but-later-failed-in-an-awful-way quarterback and pretend baseball player Drew Henson.

Jaguars' QB Situation Up In Air

The Jacksonville Jaguars have a problem on thier hands, who is going to play QB? They released Byron Leftwich, who was picked up by the Falcons, and now learn that David Garrard may miss 4 weeks due to that ankle injury he suffered against the Colts

Quinn Gray would be the starter if they stay in house Sunday against Tampa Bay. But looking elsewhere seems to be the option. Jake Plummer has already been approach and denied to come out of retirement to play in J-Ville. The Jags also worked out Doug Johnson, Drew Henson and Todd Bouman.

The Viking QB Competition

Wow. I had no idea the Vikings put themselves in this situation when they passed on Brady Quinn and took "All Day" Adrian Peterson. Here are your competitors:
-Tavaris "Stonewall" Jackson
-Brooks Bollinger
-Tyler Thigpen (I thought he played baseball)
-Drew Henson

Where is Brad Johnson when you need him? Daunte is available!

Vikings Sign Drew Henson to Practice Squad

In non-T.O. news, ESPN news just reported that Henson will sign with the Vikings practice squad. If there are any relevant details that become available (I doubt it), you can count on another post.

Drew Henson set to Sign with the Colts

The Colts QB of the future...in 10 years? It appears he missed too much developmental time in both baseball and football to ever reach the potential some thought he had in Michigan. Maybe it's for the best for everyone involved to take the 'QB of the future' tag off of him and see if he can carve out a career as a backup. The Colts will suit just Peyton Manning and Jim Sorgi at QB against the Giants. They are expected to sign Henson after week 1.

Drew Henson: Most Expensive Failure Ever?

Interesting opinion piece about how Drew Henson has become one of the biggest financial failures for teams ever. I don't believe that to be the case, I mean, I can't think of many other players off the top of my head that could have been more expensive, but Henson can't be the worst of all time... maybe of the past few years or so.

I have to agree that the reason Henson was so expensive to so many teams was the high prices Yankees' owner George Steinbrenner and Cowboys' owner Jerry Jones were willing to pay for him. Supply and demand, guys. Funny enough, I don't think his career is completely over. He might get another shot, espcially when a team can maybe acquire him cheaply because of his past failures. He could even go back to baseball and give it another go.

Drew Henson finished in Big D

Former Michigan standout/Columbus Clipper Drew Henson's time as a Dallas Cowboy appears to be over. Actually, it doesn't 'appear'. Here's Bill Parcells take on Henson.

"Drew Henson is not going to be on roster this year," coach Bill Parcells said Wednesday.

"I just didn't see enough. We tried very diligently with this guy."

"I don't keep players that I don't think can play for us," Parcells said.

Somewhere George Steinbrenner is smiling.
