2008 Kicker Power Rankings

Here are the rankings for kickers going into the 2008 season. To be honest, don't expect me to update or change this list very much between now and the beginning of the season. I just don't care that much about kickers, and neither should you. In standard scoring leagues last season, the difference between the top kicker (Mason Crosby) and the fifteenth ranked kicker (Neil Rackers) was only 35 points, which comes out to a little over 2 points a game. I don't know about you, but there weren't that many games in my fantasy team's season that were determined by 2 points or less.

The majority of the kickers at the top of these rankings are on teams that score a lot (Patriots, Cowboys), or teams whose offenses are OK but can't get it into the endzone on a regular basis (Titans, Redskins). If the team can't even almost score on a regular basis, then you will find their kicker near the bottom of the rankings (Dolphins, 49ers).

Anyway, don't draft a kicker until your very last pick, if at all. I'd rather pick up an additional "sleeper" pick and wait until the beginning of the season to figure out which player I should drop in order to fill that "K" roster spot. The only exceptions to this rule would be leagues that force you to have all positions filled at all times, and leagues where you have to pay some type of fee per transaction.

Fantasy Football Notes - Dallas Cowboys

It's hard to imagine the 2007 fantasy football season going any better for the Dallas Cowboys than it did. In fact, out of all 32 NFL teams, the Cowboys were the lone team to have a player rank in the top 10 in fantasy points at each position (including defense). Somewhere, that Dallas Cowboys fan, who solely drafts players from the Big D, is rejoicing with his championship trophy.

Make sure to read what Bruno Boys Fantasy Football staff writer Mike Whooley has to say about the Dallas Cowboys heading into the 2008 season by clicking below.

Dallas Cowboys 2007 Fantasy Review

It was a banner season in the big D, both in terms of team performance and, most importantly, to all of us fantasy junkies. No less than three members of the offense were near the top of the class at their respective positions, and the best part about it? All were likely found at somewhat bargain prices in pre-season drafts. With the club entering the off-season with little turmoil or turnover likely, there is much to look forward to, but unfortunately, those garage sale prices are toast.

2008 Fantasy Football Mock Draft - PPR League

On a cold, wintry night in Denver, eight fantasy football experts gathered for one of the first Mock Drafts of the 2008 season. They represented a wide variety of backgrounds and companies, each bringing a unique perspective to the drafting process.

The league starts one quarterback, two wide receivers, two running backs, one tight end, one flex (wide receiver or running back), one kicker, and one defense. The league is scored using a standard Yahoo scoring system, with the only exception being all receptions count for one point.

Now, onto the results!

2008 Fantasy Football Mock Draft: Rounds 10-11

The 2007 fantasy football season may be over, but it's already time to be thinking about 2008. The Fantasy Football Experts are already hard at work completing a 2008 Fantasy Football Mock Draft.

Here are the contestants:
1. Rob Shaw, Lead Expert for FantasyFanatics.com
2. Dan Cypra, Marketing Director for FantasyFanatics.com
3. Phil Jean, Fantasy Football Expert for FantasyFanatics.com

The rules are simple:
1. This is a standard Yahoo scoring league.
2. Each Expert is responsible for four teams, so there are 12 total teams in the league.
3. Rookies were not eligible to be drafted since their NFL teams and use are unknown.
4. Each roster consists of one quarterback, three wide receivers, two running backs, one tight end, one kicker, and one defense.
5. There are 13 rounds total.

Here are the first three picks of Round 10:

ROUND 10, 109TH OVERALL: BERNARD BERRIAN, WR, BEARS
Bernard Berrian will be a free agent this off-season. He'll either be slapped with a franchise tag by the Bears or sent somewhere else. The latter would help his fantasy value tremendously as a home run threat. San Diego, Miami, and the New York Jets would make for good fits for this talented wideout. Don't let his 11 touchdowns in the last two years fool you. If you had Rex Grossman and Kyle Orton throwing you the ball, you would underachieve too.

ROUND 10, 110TH OVERALL: MATT LEINART, QB, CARDINALS
The 3rd QB to be picked up by this fantasy squad. He is a talent and you have to love the
Cardinals offense with James, Fitzgerald, Boldin and Pope. He gained a big vote of confidence by the Cardinals coaching staff when they announced that he would start as long as he's healthy in 2008.

ROUND 10, 111th OVERALL: ELI MANNING, QB, GIANTS
An unbelievable post-season has this pick looking more and more like a steal. For three consecutive years, Manning has tossed at least 23 touchdowns. The flaws come with the interceptions, and his lack of mobility. This past season, Manning tossed 20 interceptions. The former Ole Miss Rebel seems to be forming a connection with former USC Trojans wide out Steve Smith. I believe that is a foundation that will be built upon in 2008.

Dallas - Green Bay Preview

Tomorrow's game is the biggest game of the season thus far and I am damn happy that my dorm has the NFL Network. With that sai, it is time to break down the teams.
Offense: Dallas and Green Bay are both in the Top 3 offensively, Dallas being 2nd and Green Bay being 3rd. The quarterbacks are evenly matched, despite Brett Favre's experience. The difference comes at the running game. Ryan Grant has done an amazing job in Green Bay since he came in. However, Dallas has the Two-Headed monster of Speed(Julius Jones) and Power(Marion Barber III). The difference will be in the running game and I feel that Dallas is more potent on the ground. Edge: Dallas. Key Match-up: Flozell Adams on Aaron Kampman.

Defense: Green Bay is 5th in points allowed per game at 16.8 whilst Dallas is tenth at 20.1. The defenses are rather even with Green Bay allowing 20 more yards rushing per game and that can be bad news for Dallas but Dallas will have just as much of a problem with Green Bay's passing game. Edge: Push. Key Match-up: Al Harris on Terrell Owens.

Special Teams: Nick Folk and Mason Crosby are just as good as any kicker in the league with Crosby leading the league in scoring and Folk 3rd behind Crosby and Randy Moss. The teams are even in the return game with each team's returner averaging 23.6 on kick-offs. Edge: Push.

Location: Texas Stadium is not the best place to play for road teams, especially when Dallas is 10-1. The atmosphere will be very electric and Brett Favre has never won in Dallas in eight attempts. Edge: Dallas.
I think the game will be high scoring. but Dallas' run game and home field propels them to a victory.

Dallas 37
Green Bay 27
