Ex-NFL player Chad Johnson released from Florida jail after just seven days

Former Cincinnati Bengals and New England Patriots wide receiver Chad Johnson finally found his freedom from jail card in the good graces of Broward County Circuit Judge Kathleen McHugh. Johnson was released from jail after the he apologized on Monday for disrespecting the judge when he slapped his attorney on the backside in court last week.

McHugh accepted Johnson's apology for his earlier lack of courtroom manners and reduced his original 30-day sentence to the one week he’d already severed a Florida jail. The NFL player formerly known as Chad Ochocinco has often been the subject of several controversies due to his flamboyant behavior and a long list of off-field issues. On Monday, Johnson said that he took the time in jail to reflect on how his lack of seriousness on the issue was wrong considering he was already in court due to a domestic violence case.

Chad Johnson gets out of jail, heads to McDonald’s

As a lifelong Bengals fan, I will forever be grateful to Chad Johnson for helping make the Cincinnati Bengals relevant. Despite his shenanigans off of the field, I will also always be a fan of Ocho Cinco. There’s no denying that Johnson was always an attention grabber, but I always thought he did it in a delightful and charming way.
Still, there is no denying that it has been a rough couple of weeks for the former Pro Bowl wideout. Everyone knows about the events in the courtroom, just as the judge released her verdict that he would not require jail time, he slapped his lawyer’s butt, the judge didn’t take kind to his actions, reversed her verdict and sentenced him to 30 days in prison.
After about a week in jail, Johnson was granted his release. Well, TMZ and a ton of other media outlets were ready and waiting for a statement from Chad Johnson. Johnson said that he was grateful to the judge for putting him into his place and later said that he was heading to McDonald’s. To those not familiar with Joh

Child, Please: Chad Johnson in Major Financial Trouble

If you thought that Chad Johnson’s NFL career couldn’t possibly end on worse terms than being sentenced to 30 days in jail, then you would be wrong. TMZ reports that the free agent wide receiver’s expenses outpace his income by more than $45,000…per month. Photo Credit: TMZ.com Johnson (formerly Chad Ochocinco) claims to only make about $3,000 per month and pays $16,525 in child support. His other expenses total more than $30,000/month, which includes $1,000 for pet expenses, $2,500 for food, $3,500 on clothing (child, please), $5,000 on entertainment and over $9,000 in mortgage payments each month. Working in Chad’s favor are assets of over $4.7 million, but he’ll have to adjust his lifestyle and find some creative ways to generate more income or his expenses will eat away his assets in about eight and half years at the current rate. Hey, maybe he can do a new reality show with some other former NFL stars who have ran into financial trouble. The 6-1, 188-pound wide out has regis...

Bengals Reportedly To Be Featured On HBO’s ‘Hard Knocks’

It looks like the Cincinnati Bengals will be featured on HBO’s 8th season of the fan favorite show ‘Hard Knocks.’
Per Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer is the man who got the scoop on the series, and I can’t say that I’m exactly very excited.
An official announcement of the #bengals being this season's team on Hard Knocks is likely to happen next week. Two weeks at the latest
— Joe Reedy (@joereedy) June 15, 2013

The Bengals were featured on the show in 2009 when they had the likes of Chad Johnson and Carson Palmer, but this year will be a bit different.

Cincinnati Bengals to be Featured on HBO Series Hard Knocks (Maybe)

If you can believe what you read on the internet the next victim/team to be featured on the HBO series Hard Knocks has been chosen--the Cincinnati Bengals.

Bengals minicamp; photo from team Twitter account @Bengals

There has yet to be an official word from HBO, NFL Films, or the Bengals about the news as of late Friday night; just word from a person at the Philadelphia Daily Enquirer making this nothing more than a rmor at this time.

Per @pdomo, who is wired in at NFL Films, the #bengals might be the team for HBO's Hard Knocks
— Joe Reedy (@joereedy) June 15, 2013

So technically the word is not official; just possible. With the trouble that the series has had in recent years finding willing participants I doubt they would let word leak unless they felt pretty confident they had their team.

Should the rumor be true it will be the second time for the Bengals on the popular documentary series. They were on the show back in 2009 when Chad Johnson was still around to provide some drama

Bengals Head Coach Marvin Lewis: I Feel Sorry For Chad Johnson

Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis put up with a lot when he was coaching Chad Johnson, but he was also an amazing father figure for Johnson.
During a conversation with CBSSports.com, Lewis said that he warned Johnson back while chad was still a Bengal about the perils of marriage.

Chad Johnson's Jail Sentence 'A Shame' According To Bengals HC Marvin Lewis

Chad Johnson's almost pathological need to be the center of attention led to a 30-day jail sentence this week when Broward County Circuit Judge Kathleen McHugh overreacted to a playful butt slap.

Johnson's former coach, Marvin Lewis of the Cincinnati Bengals, can't help but feel sorry for the out-of-work wide receiver.

"It's a shame because I heard that the attorney said something about, 'Aren't you going to thank me?' It was just a natural reaction," Lewis said, via Clark Judge of CBSSports.com. "I know when Chad's being a clown. And that wasn't it. He didn't do what he did to get anyone to laugh. That was just a natural reaction from Chad, and it's a shame."

Lewis and Johnson have butted heads in the past, but one still gets the sense of a father-son tinge to their relationship. Lewis would offer advice and stern warnings for Johnson to get his life turned around. Johnson would continue to act out in self-destructive and childish ways.

Chad Johnson Sentenced To 30 Days in Jail

Even if one or more teams around the league start to show sudden interest sometime over the offseason in free agent wide receiver Chad Johnson (formerly Chad Ochocinco), the odds of the three-time All-Pro and six-time Pro Bowler continuing his NFL career have just gotten tougher, as he has now been sentenced to 30 days in jail for violating the terms of his probation in his 2012 domestic violence case, according to the Associated Press. A plea deal that called for no jail time fell apart Monday. Broward Judge Kathleen McHugh rejected it after Johnson playfully slapped his attorney on the behind in court. McHugh says Johnson wasn’t taking things seriously enough, even after he apologized. McHugh also extended Johnson’s probation for three months.
As an NFL fan it’s difficult to believe that one of the NFL’s most humorously entertaining wide receivers would take such a hard fall from superstardom.
