Fantasy Basketball Players to Watch for on Losing Teams

Just because a team has no hope at post-season, that does not mean that they are not worth watching, especially for fantasy players. You can often find a diamond in the rough, as some players finally get an opportunity to see some court time with teams looking toward the future. Not only can these previously ignored players pay dividends for the last month of the season, but it could preview a possible break-out next season. Let us go around the league and find some of those players that are ...

Important Fantasy Lines: March 12

If each night one had the time, energy and will to look through every NBA stat line, one might be very successful at fantasy basketball. One would be able to pick up emerging studs, drop eventual duds and monitor those ify suds. Unfortunately, a manager rarely has the time to do this, but here at Fantasy Basketball Pros we care about you, so we look through all the lines and tell you in summary form what you really need to know. Here are the most telling fantasy lines from Wednesday.

Day 135 of 170: Chris Paul for VP?

In yesterday's interview on NBA Roto, I predicted that Daequan Cook (-6.1) would go out in the Heat's very next game and shoot 2-10 and finish with 5 points. Well, he actually shot 2-9 and finished with 6 points. Close enough for me to toot my own horn. He did hit a couple threes and grab 8 boards, so it wasn't quite a biggest loser performance, but I believe this is the Daequan Cook we're going to see the rest of the year.

After getting Nels to give him an interview, NBA Rotoman finally hunted me down to be a part of the latest edition of "Buy or Sell", where we discuss pretty much the entire Miami Heat team as well as a New York Knick that you probably hate (the answer isn't all of them).

Day 133 of 170: Is it too late to pick up Ricky Davis?

Waiver Wire Line of the Night: Already mentioned Ricky Davis, so next up would be Daequan Cook (4.07) with 23 points on 5 threes. He only shot 9/20, so he passes the 70% rule. He jumped from a season average of 20 minutes to 29 and 43 over the last 2 games. And his name is an uncommon spelling. Not that I know a common spelling of Daequan. I guess if you have a spot, go for it and see if he keeps up the minutes and performance while Wade sits.

More fantasy analysis after the jump...

We are at the point of the season, well to be honest, where our attention begins to wane. The basketball season is long, really long. So to help you make the most of the time you have left to spend on your fantasy basketball teams, let's take a look at a group of players that could have a significant impact in the last month and a half of the season: the rookies.

What? Sixers playoff bound? Believe it!

In case you haven't noticed, the Sixers are tied for eighth place in the Eastern Conference. They are 7-3 in their last 10 games, while the New Jersey Nets are 3-7 in their last 10. Both teams are now 12-16 heading into Friday's games, but it is the Sixers who are going in the right direction. It's time to start realizing that this team is ready to contend.
