Former UT star making fired up

ARLINGTON - Sorry Cowboys fans, it's not Roy Williams.

But at least there's one UT alum at Cowboys Stadium making Longhorn fans proud. That would be Raiders S Michael Huff, who has already broken up a couple of passes.

Texas-ex vs. Texas-ex

Oakland safety Michael Huff made a drive-stopping play against fellow Texas-ex Roy Williams in the first quarter.

Huff arrived at the same time as the football, or at least the offiicals thought, on a throw to Williams. Huff jarred the ball loose, forcing a Cowboys punt.

Oakland coach Tom Cable praised Huff this week. After a slow start to his NFL career, Huff has come on to be a first-rate defender.

Texas alum shining for Raiders

IRVING - After three lackluster seasons, Raiders free safety and former Texas standout Michael Huff has shown dramatic improvement, Oakland coach Tom Cable said.

Through 10 games, Huff has a career-high three interceptions. In last week's 20-17 upset of Cincinnati, he had nine tackles.

"His tackling and his communication and just his play at safety have been outstanding all year," Cable said.

A native of Irving who graduated from Nimitz High School, Huff started rounding in...

Kindly pigeon helps out the Raiders kickoff coverage unit

The best part of the video is the instant replay. Make sure you stick around for
that.

Oh, animals. It's so adorable when you do human things. I like to pretend
that this little guy can talk, too, and that his name is Leonard and he speaks
with a slightly French-Canadian accent. I imagine this as the conversation he
had with #24, Michael Huff(notes).
Leonard: Hey, what's going on, fellas?
Huff: We're just, um, playing a football game.
Leonard: Yeah? Who are you playing?

An open apology to Michael Huff

I’m taking a break from my normal Raider ramblings to do something that Colin Cowherd is incapable of conceiving; admitting when you’re wrong.
In this case, I was wrong to have spent the last six months calling out Michael Huff for his inability to live up to the money given to him as the seventh overall [...]

Huff lost his starting job last season to Hiram Eugene. And the former No. 7 overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft could find himself on the chopping block if he doesn’t reclaim [...]

Safties of the AFC West from an Oakland Raiders eye view

We have come to the penultimate post in the "From a Raiders' Eye View" series. The one thing that can be gleaned from the series thus far is that it appears that the San Diego Chargers are still the team to beat in the AFC West. They have led in nearly all of th categories thus far. The Raiders have been all over the map, but tend to be trending high in many categories, and look to be a team on the rise. Tonight's post is how the safety tandems of the AFC West stack up.
