Lindback’s Goal Is To Win The Cup

from Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times, “I haven’t been a starter in the NHL, so I can’t just anticipate I’m just going to come in and play,” said Lindback, acquired with center Kyle Wilson and a 2012 seventh-round pick for two ‘12 second-round picks, a ‘13 third-rounder and goalie Sebastien Caron. “I’ve got to work hard and prove myself. My goal is I want to win and play games and win the Cup. That’s why I play.”

Lindback played 38 games over two seasons in Nashville with a 2.53 goals against average and a 16-13-2 record. He’ll battle with returning Tampa Bay goalie Mathieu Garon, who was one of the first to send Lindback a text welcoming him to the club.

Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman, Lindback’s former teammate on Sweden’s world junior team, believes his buddy has the talent and “killer instinct” to be a No. 1 goalie.

“He’s a great goaltender,” Hedman said. “He’s a big guy with ability, he’s a modern goalie. He’s very fast, he’s flexible, and his mobili

Lightning get goalie Lindback from Predators

Anders Lindback is now a member of the Tampa Bay LightningWe can probably remove the Tampa Bay Lightning from the potential Roberto Luongo-trade equation. After trading three draft picks and goalie Sebastien Caron to the Nashville Predators for netminder Anders Lindback, forward Kyle Wilson and a pick, the Tampa Bay club appears to be set in net for 2012-13. After spending the last two years stuck behind Pekka Rinne, Lindback will finally get the chance to earn the No. 1 role of which many believe he's capable. "We believe Anders will join the team and give us a nice lift at the goaltending position as we prepare for the 2012-13 season," Lightning GM Steve Yzerman said of the towering 24-year-old. "He has the potential to develop into the No. 1 goaltender we covet." With veteran Mathieu Garon under contract for another year, we can look forward to the Lindback/Garon tandem through 2012-13 (heavy on the Lindback). Goalies Dustin Tokarski, Riku Helenius, Jarosl...

Lightning Strikes with Lindback trade

Tampa Bay Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman was true to his word. Rather than allocate big bucks for a veteran goaltender like Roberto Luongo, he acquired a younger player capable of growing with his team. And rather than pay a big price for a Cory Schneider of the Vancouver Canucks or Jonathan Bernier of the Los Angeles Kings, he got his next goaltender at a more moderate cost.Anders Lindback arrived from Nashville with depth forward Kyle Wilson and a seventh-round pick for two second-round picks in the coming draft (Nos. 37 and 50), a third-round pick in 2013 and the rights to goaltender Sebastien Caron -- who spent the bulk of last season playing Germany.Lindback was stuck behind Predators star Pekka Rinne, one of the top few NHL goaltenders and a real workhorse. Lindback has played just 38 NHL games, but he showed enough in limited duty (16-13-2, 2.53, .914 save percentage) to convince Yzerman than he could graduate into a No. 1 role.“We've watched a lot of his games,” ...

Back-up Predators goalie for the last two year, Anders Lindback, will have his chance to come out from under the shadow of Vezina nominee, Pekka Rinne next season as he was traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning as part of a multi-player deal on Friday. The Predators traded Lindback, Kyle Wilson and a seventh round pick to the Bolts in exchange for two second round picks in this years NHL Entry Draft and a third rounder at next year's draft. The Preds also took on the Lightning's cast off goalie, Sebastien Caron who will become an UFA on July 1st and is not a part of Nashville's plans. The Predators were without a first or second round pick in next week's draft and this move partially filled that void and will help the team restock the cupboard with more young talent.Make the jump for the full release from the Predators...NASHVILLE PREDATORS ACQUIRE THREE DRAFT PICKS AND GOALTENDER SEBASTIAN CARON FROM TAMPA BAY- Send goaltender Anders Lindback, forward Kyle Wilson and a 20...

With Lindback traded, signing veteran backup likely for Predators

Predators backup netminder, Anders Lindback has been traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning. The announcement was made at a press conference held late Friday afternoon at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.

Kyle Wilson and Nashville’s 7th round draft pick were also sent to Tampa Bay. Coming back to Nashville are two 2nd round draft picks and a 2013 3rd round pick. The Predators also get goaltender Sebastien Caron.
Caron will be an unrestricted free agent on July 1st. General Manager David Poile says there are no plans for Caron in the Predators organization.
Lindback, a restricted free agent, has played only 38 games in the NHL, but wanted an opportunity to be a starting goaltender. With Pekka Rinne signed to a 7-year deal in Nashville, it was unlikely he would ever get that opportunity with the Predators.
“Sitting down with Anders and his agent at the end of the year, they love Nashville and he is very appreciative of the opportunity, but he needed to move on. He isn’t a backup goaltender...
