Michelle Wie's Salvation of the LPGA will have to wait until next year, as she's withdrawn from the LPGA Tour Championship because of a sprained left ankle.Wie first hurt the ankle at the Solheim Cup this past summer, and said it had been bothering her on and off ever since. She played well in the opening holes of the Tour Championship, getting as low as three under through 12, but then had trouble on tee shots.
Does Michelle Wie's victory interest you more in the LPGA?

It's a sad truth of human endeavor that we prize celebrity over achievement. Anonymous charity workers get no press and no love while celebri-dingbats get worship. It's the rare moment when a celebrity crosses over into actually achieving something, which sort of sets the whole paradigm on its head.Which is where we are now with Michelle Wie. As has been discussed ad infinitum in recent hours, she's finally capitalized on all the promise she's shown since she was a little kid....
