Perry, O'Hair team to win Shootout

Kenny Perry and Sean O'Hair birdied five of the last six holes to win the Franklin Templeton Shootout on Sunday.

The 52-year-old Perry became the oldest player to win the Shootout and also won for the third time with a different partner. He won with John Huston in 2005 and Scott Hoch in 2008. Perry joins Steve Elkington, Fred Couples, Brad Faxon and Scott McCarron with three Shootout wins; Elkington and Couples also won with three different partners.

''All three have been different,'' Perry said of his Shootout victories. ''John and I were pretty even partners, and then the year Scott and I won, I played fantastic that week. . . . This year, my roles have been reversed, and I was complementing Sean.''

Said O'Hair: ''I think that was kind of the best thing about this was just we had a ton of fun, just like being a kid enjoying what you're doing.''

Rory Sabbatini and Charles Howell III made a charge on the back nine that included an eagle on a par-

Bernhard Langer rallied to win the 3M Championship for the second time in four years, shooting a 10-under 62 on Sunday to overcome a six-stroke deficit.

The 54-year-old German finished at 18-under 198 at the TPC Twin Cities for his 15th Champions Tour title. He ended a 24-event victory drought, his longest on the 50-and-over tour.

David Peoples, three strokes ahead entering the final round, shot a 70 to finish second - two shots behind. The runner-up finish is his best in 51 starts on the tour.

Kenny Perry and Olin Browne tied for third at 15 under. Perry had a 64, and Browne shot 66.

Allen wins Encompass Insurance Pro-Am

Michael Allen didn't let early struggles stop him from ending a long title drought.

Allen won the Encompass Insurance Pro-Am on Sunday for his second Champions Tour title, closing with a 3-under 68 for a three-stroke victory over Kenny Perry.

''It's been a long time since I beat these guys,'' Allen said. ''I haven't beat them very often. It's very nice to get on 18 and finally go, 'Man, I got them all.' ''

Allen also won the 2009 Senior PGA Championship. He was winless in 40 Champions Tour events since then.

''To be honest, I've played a lot of really good golf out here and I knew it was going to come again soon,'' Allen said.

Allen finished the three-day event at 12 under. He took a five-shot advantage into the final round, tying the tournament record for the largest 36-hole margin.

''I've never had a five-shot lead,'' Allen said. ''Fuzzy (Zoeller) told me to play like I was broke, so I tried to do t

Kenny Perry wins ACE Group Classic

Kenny Perry shot a 2-under 70 Sunday for his second Champions Tour title, cruising to a five-shot victory in the ACE Group Classic.

Perry birdied three of his first eight holes, and no one ever got closer than four shots after that. Perry totaled 24 birdies - two short of the tour record for a 54-hole event - and tied Allen Doyle (1999) for the largest margin of victory in the 25-year-old tournament.

Last year's Champions Tour rookie of the year set the tour's 36-hole scoring record in relation to par at 18 under following a 62 in Saturday's second round.

Defending champion Bernhard Langer eagled No. 17 for the third straight day and finished in second place after a 70. A bogey on the final hole dropped Perry into a tie with Langer for the tournament scoring record Langer set last year.

Perry in Ace lead after record round

Kenny Perry shot a 10-under 62 Saturday to set the Champions Tour's 36-hole scoring record in the Ace Group Classic.

Perry is at 18-under 126, three shots ahead of first-round leader Larry Mize. Tom Lehman is four back, and defending champion Bernhard Langer is another stroke back at 13-under at TwinEagles Club.

Perry made five birdies on the front, and six more on the back with a bogey on No. 15. He bounced back from that with birdies on the last three. Mize and Lehman were tied for second most of the day, then Mize birdied No. 18 to move into sole possession of second.

Langer set the tournament scoring record last year at 20 under.

Champions Tour wins 3-Tour Challenge title

Kenny Perry made nine birdies to lead the Champions Tour to the title over the LPGA and PGA teams at the Wendy's 3-Tour Challenge on Tuesday.

The Champions Tour team, made up of Perry, Jay Haas and Mark Calcavecchia, were a combined 15 under in the two-player, best-ball format that allowed each team to discard one score per hole. The group shot 8 under over the final nine holes to overtake the PGA Tour team of Boo Weekley, Gary Woodland and Jonathan Byrd, which finished at 12 under at the par-72 Rio Secco Golf Club (par 72).

Paula Creamer, Cristie Kerr and Natalie Gulbis of the LPGA Tour also topped the PGA Tour threesome by going 14 under.

The defending champion PGA held a 3-stroke edge over the Champions Tour, and a 5-stroke lead over the LPGA Tour after nine holes, largely due to eagles on the par-5, 516-yard eighth hole by Weekley and Woodland. Byrd also shot a 5-under 31 over the first nine holes.

Kerr keyed the LPGA attack by going 5 under over the final five holes. She eagled the 14th, birdied
