2008 Memorial Tournament Without Woods

This year's Memorial Tournament will be played at the beautiful Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio, and it should be a great one.

Last year's champion K.J. Choi will defend his title against a packed field that will not include Tiger Woods. Woods is currently rehabbing from an April surgery to his left knee and has not played since the Masters. However, Woods is set to play the 2008 U.S. Open in two weeks at Torrey Pines. The PGA has approved an increase in the amount of players (from 105 to 120) which should not only increase the talent pool, but also create a more challenging event.

The Muirfield Village GC was designed by Jack Nicklaus and completed in 1972. Nicklaus was noted saying he wanted a tournament more like The Masters which would challenge golfers from around the world. The course was dedicated on Memorial Day with an exhibition match between Tom Weiskopf and Jack Nicklaus in which Nicklaus won with a 6-under 66. The Memorial is currently played at 7,265 feet with 75 bunkers and water hazards on 11 holes. Golf Digest has selected the course as number 16th among "America's 100 Greatest Courses".

Catch the Memorial on May 29th - June 1st and bet your favorite player at www.betSuperior.com

Augusta Charge: Why Tiger Will Not Win The Masters

As Tiger Woods entered the third round at Augusta seven shots back he would need to make a Nicklaus type come back to claim his fifth green jacket.

So why won't Woods win the Masters? He's too far back and he has other major championship winners ahead of him in Phil Mickelson, Mike Weir and Retief Goosen.

While there is still a lot of golf to be played Woods has never...www.rawsportsblog.com

Tiger Watch!: Day 2 at the Masters

Tiger's 7 back now. He's looked relatively pedestrian, and the task ahead is a daunting one. Woods will need the 2nd biggest comeback in Masters' history if he wants to slip on that 5th Green Jacket this year. Of course, if anyone is gonna pull such a feat off, Tiger is the most likely candidate. The Grand Slam dream, and the hype, is alive, but it's slipping. It's on life support even. Some Tiger free highlights await after the jump. Gary Player Edition...

Ogilvy holds off Tiger and Ends his 6 month win streak

Tiger Woods at Doral was not enough to match Oglivy. Either was Furyk, Singh, Scott, Goosen, and Storm. As Ogilvy finished at -17 and the bunch posted -16, Tiger finished at 15 under. Even though Tiger did not win at Doral this year he is going for the Grand Slam. Also Tiger has 64 career wins along with Ben Hogan and will pass that and Jack Nicklaus and maybe most likely Sam Snead at 82 career wins.

Woods Rolls to Win No. 63!

Tiger Woods has now accomplished what only three other golfers in history have done, win at least 63 events on the PGA tour. This weekends victory in the Accenture Match Play Championship moved him past Arnold Palmer into fourth on the all time win list. His opponent on Sunday, Stewart Cink, could only watch and laugh as Woods made 14 birdies in 29 holes to dispose of him 8 and 7. Woods could have easily been beaten in the first round by J.B. Holmes, but a stretch of three birdies and an eagle on the last five holes gave Woods the come from behind win.

He was also pushed by Aaron Baddeley and Henrik Stenson on previous days, but just like his first round, Woods made the shots when it counted. This is what Makes Tiger Woods the best player of all time, beating contenders and adjusting to the conditions. This give Woods his fourth straight win on the year and makes the possibility of winning the grand slam that much more attainable.

This is the third time Woods has won at least four straight PGA Tour events. He also won in Dubai three weeks ago on the European tour by coming back from a four-shot deficit. He has now won six of his last seven PGA Tour events, 16 of his last 30 over the last two years.

Woods' next win will tie him with Ben Hogan for third all time in career wins, leaving him eight wins away from his idol, Jack Nicklaus. That's amazing considering Woods is only 32 years old...an age that most describe as a golfers prime. If this is Woods' prime, then every other golfer should be scared.

Tiger Woods...Going For Win No. 63

Having not lost a golf tournament in nearly six months, Tiger Woods is getting ready to play in the Accenture Match Play Championship. While talking to reporters, Woods was asked if he'd ever thought about going through a season undefeated. Woods response was, I did once, a long time ago. When I was 11, I won 36 tournaments that year. But on the PGA tour, the world's number one knows it's too difficult to win them all.

Woods, who plays J.B. Holmes in the first round, knows a thing or two about losing in the first rounds at these events. He's the only no. 1 seed to ever lose in the first round since this tournament began in 1999, in 2002 he was bounced out by Peter O'Malley. But since finishing in second place on September 3 at the Deutsche Bank Championship, Woods has won his last five tournaments.

Woods' opponent, J.B. Holmes is already a winner this year and will give Tiger a game. Phil Mickelson, the world's no. 2 will square off against Pat Perez and no. 3 ranked Steve Stricker will play Daniel Chopra. The field consists of only 20 Americans, the fewest since the event began. Woods is the only player to win this event twice, in 2003 and 2004.

If Woods wins this event, it would be his 63 career win...passing Arnold Palmer for fourth on the all-time wins list. Up next on the all-time wins list is Ben Hogan with 64, a total that Woods should pass in a few tournaments. Once Woods wins his 65th tournament, that would leave him seven shy of tying Jack Nicklaus for second all-time, and 10 shy of tying Sam Sneed.
