Week 12: Wednesday Injury Report

It looks like the Colts have changed the way they use the report and are now listing some players who have injuries, but did not miss any practice time. This, along with a large number of players missing time makes for the longest Colts injury report I've ever seen. Unfortunately the list is not just long but star studded.
Did Not Participate: Antoine Bethea (foot), Keyunta Dawson (knee), Aaron Francisco (Ankle), Dwight Freeney (Abdomen), Anthony Gonzalez (knee), Kelvin Hayden (knee)...

In possibly the biggest game yet for the 2009 season, Colts coach Jim Caldwell left 2007 second round pick Tony Ugoh and 2008 second round pick Mike Pollak inactive for the game. They were not hurt. They were not disciplined for an off-the-field incident. They seemed to be left inactive because... well, they just plain...

This team is virtually flawless.
Honestly, what is there to complain about? For someone desperate come up with angles to cover on a daily basis, I know that flaws and problems make for better copy than just praising the same guys 7 days a week. The Horse is undefeated and has played so well for so long, that we've virtually run out of superlatives. All of us know better than to start getting giddy or to look too far ahead. All that matters is the playoffs, and with Indy making a stro...

Bill Polian: Real Man of Genius

Three years ago, Vic Ketchman of 'Ask Vic' fame predicted that the Colts time on top would be short. He hilariously declared that the Colts were the perfect model of how not to build a franchise. Reading this article will be the highlight of your day.
Six weeks later they won the Super Bowl.
At the core his argument was that Colts had mismanaged the cap.
Pointing out that he was so very, hilariously wrong is not the point of this post. But I thought I'd point it out anyway.

So says Mike Chappell
Neither Hayden (hamstring) nor Jackson (knee) accompanied the team to Nashville. But Sanders (knee) and offensive tackle Charlie Johnson (knee) made the trip. Sanders still is listed as doubtful while Johnson is questionable.

Indy Star Reports Charlie Johnson "OK" after knee scan

Some good news from Indy Star's Phil Richards:
Charlie Johnson was moving slowly and making no predictions Monday, but he had some good news: A magnetic resonance imaging test on his left knee indicated no serious damage.
Very good news to hear that no damage was done. However, this injury does provide some intrigue. If C.J. cannot play Sunday night against the Tennessee Titans, it is likely that the Colts will turn to Tony Ugoh, who was benched back in August in favor of C.J.

Tomorrow there won't be a live in game chat. There's a couple of reasons for that:
1. I want to enjoy the game with my family, and the chats chain me to my office with a two computer setup.

Key Stats will seek to track two or three important talking points during the game. Obviously, it won't be hard to follow the YPC for Joe Addai, but if I want to quantify how effective the ...

The Colts announced that Charlie Johnson, the backup at several O-Line positions, would be moved into the starting lineup at left tackle, replacing the underperforming Tony Ugoh. A lot of things are going well for the Colts right now. The D-Line situation seems to be improving. We have depth at both ends and what looks like a good rotation in the middle of the line in theory. Marlin Jackson is back and word is the knee is in good shape.
Charlie Johnson returned to practice today. And on his first day of training camp, he started at left tackle. Tony Ugoh was with the second team.

Colts coach Jim Caldwell made it clear this wasn't a one day experiment. He said Johnson is his starter. And we would have known it sooner had Johnson not been hurt in the offseason.

Some people may brush this off as no big deal. But I won't dismiss it so quickly because this confirms what many suspected in recent years -- that the Colts ...
