The tournament runs through December 4. There are 1600 participants from 97 countries. "If you win this tournament it informs the international tennis community that you have arrived as a serious ball player and your future as a professional is on the right track," said Ken Thomas, announcer. "This is truly one of the greatest junior tennis tournaments in the world." Past junior champions include: Maria Sharapova, Andy Roddick, Melanie Oudin, David Nalbandian, Ivan Ljubicic and Jelena Jankovic. Enough said.

Venus Williams advanced to her second straight Sony Ericsson Championships final Saturday after rallying for a 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 win over Jelena Jankovic. Williams broke the former top-ranked Serb three times in a row en route to a 5-3 lead in the decisive set. The defending champion then sealed the win with a forehand that bounced in off the netcord. She could come up against her sister Serena, who played Danish teenager Caroline Wozniacki in the second semifinal.

Jelena Jankovic advanced to the semifinals of the Sony Ericsson Championships on Friday after routing a tired Caroline Wozniacki 6-2, 6-2 in the last group-stage round. The former top-ranked Serb broke twice in the first set and then raced out to a 4-0 lead in the second. Wozniacki won two grueling three-set matches on Wednesday and Thursday and looked like she had simply run out of energy in the hot weather, often a step slow and failing to chase down balls she would normally get to.
