After sitting out the last two NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) events, Scott Riggs is excited about his return behind the wheel of the Ricky Benton Racing (RBR) Enterprises No. 92 BTS Tire and Wheel Distributors/Goodyear fleetHQ/QMI Chevrolet at Charlotte in the North Carolina Education Lottery 200."We are looking for good things at Charlotte," said Riggs. "Our finishes this year haven't been an indication of how good this team is and how good we can be."Engine woes at Daytona and Martinsville derailed good runs for Riggs in the truck. Clay Rogers filled in for Riggs at Rockingham and saw a good start to the race negated by an untimely caution. The team did not make the trip to Kansas Speedway for the NCWTS event last month."We have great equipment and a great group of guys getting these trucks ready to come race," said Riggs. "to many parts and pieces are coming together for us not to put together some good runs and strong finishes.&q...

We've all done things in the past that we've been embarrassed of nowadays. A fan recently showed Scott Riggs a video featuring a preview of the American Males, where he teamed up with Buff Bagwell in WCW as two good looking young guys. He joked by saying, "I was young and needed the money."

A good night for Scott Riggs and the RBR Enterprises No. 92 BTS Tire and Wheel Distributors/fleetHQ Chevrolet headed south very quickly Daytona International Speedway back in February.Engine trouble was the culprit, but Riggs and the team are very optimistic as the head to Martinsville Speedway for the Kroger 250 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) event."We had a great truck at Daytona," said Riggs, who started 18th and quickly moved his way to the front, running as high as fifth in the early going. "These things just happen sometimes in racing. I'm excited about the truck that we have for Martinsville this week."And with good reason. It is the same truck that Riggs drove to a fifth place finish at Martinsville last October."Martinsville is always a lot of fun," said Riggs. "We had a great truck here back in the fall and (crew chief) Mike (Hester) and the team have been worked on these trucks all winter, so we should have something for t...

An engine turned sour derailed a promising run for Scott Riggs and the No. 92 BTS Tire and Wheel Distributors/fleetHQ Chevrolet in the NextEra Energy Resources 250 at Daytona International Speedway."That was about to get fun," said Riggs after a blown engine knocked him out of the race on lap 26. "We had a really good truck. (Crew chief) Mike (Hester) and these guys put a good piece under me. It was stable and was great in the draft. We had a truck that could have finished in the top five."After starting 18th, Riggs quickly put the No. 92 in the top 10 in the running order, despite being in the slower-moving top lane for his entire 26-lap run. The No. 92 finished in 35th place."Sure, it's disappointing," said Hester as the team loaded the truck to head back to North Carolina. "We had a great truck and Scott was doing a heck of a job. But these things happen in racing. We will take the truck back to Cerro Gordo (N.C.) and see what the problem wa...

Scott Riggs will drive No. 92 truck for first five races

Scott Riggs will drive the No. 92 truck for the first five races on the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series schedule. Riggs finished fifth for the Ricky Benton Racing team at Martinsville last season.
Benton and Riggs decided to make plans for the 2013 season. Riggs will run at least the first five races for the team. Additional sponsorship could expand the number of races the team will compete in.
“These guys have some great equipment,” said Riggs. “We are going to see exactly where we are over the first five races and evaluate the program.
“I believe we can get get the truck up front and run in the top 10. Our first goal is going to be consistently running on the lead lap. The top tens will come if we can do that.”
Mike Hester will return as the crew chief for the team.

Riggs to pilot No. 92 for first five NCWTS races; schedule could expand with additional sponsorship

When Ricky Benton Racing (RBR) Enterprises tabbed Scott Riggs to drive the No. 92 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) entry at Martinsville last fall, the veteran driver was just looking to go out and have a little fun running in the series where he got his start in NASCAR.
But after a fifth-place finish in the BTS Tire and Wheel Distributors/fleetHQ.com/QMI Chevrolet, Riggs and team owner Ricky Benton decided to extend the relationship into 2013. Riggs will be behind the wheel of the No. 92 for at least the first five races of the upcoming season. RBR Enterprises is looking for additional sponsorship to expand its schedule, possibly the entire 22-race slate.

Stewart-Haas Racing: Scott Riggs has ‘no official role’ with team

If Scott Riggs is going to work full-time for Stewart-Haas Racing, the team isn’t saying.
Last month, Jayski.com reported that NASCAR Sprint Cup veteran Riggs had an opportunity to work as a driver coach for Danica Patrick and/or serve as a test driver for Stewart-Haas Racing, along with a limited schedule in a fourth Stewart-Haas car, pending sponsorship.
When contacted about Riggs, spokesperson Mike Arning on Thursday said via email, “Scott Riggs has no official role with Stewart-Haas Racing. However, the team utilizes him for tests as needed.”
Riggs, who tested for Stewart-Haas at Talladega in 2011, drove full-time for Haas-CNC Racing in 2008, the year before the team morphed into Stewart-Haas Racing with the arrival of Tony Stewart.
In 2012, Riggs ran the start-and-park Cup car for R3 Motorsports and finished fifth in the fall Truck Series race at Martinsville for Ricky Benton Racing in a one-race deal.

Riggs, RBR team battle to fifth-place finish at Martinsville

Going into Saturday's NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Kroger 200 at Martinsville 200, Scott Riggs said he was just looking to just go out and have a little fun with the Ricky Benton Racing (RBR) Enterprises team.

"Like I said, I've been doing start and parks for the last year and a half," Riggs said, "so it was a blast to be able to go out and run a full race."

Of course, it did not hurt that Riggs brought the No. 92 BTS Tire and Wheel Distributors/fleetHQ.com Chevrolet Silverado home in fifth place in his first turn behind the wheel. It was the team's first top five since the 2011 NextEra 250 at Daytona.

"These guys worked so hard all weekend to get this truck better," Riggs said. "We were loose when we unloaded and then went a little too far on the adjustment after practice on Friday. But (crew chief) Dave (Fuge) and the guys kept making it better during the race and we kept moving forward."

When the Ricky Benton Racing (RBR) Enterprises team returns to NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) action this weekend at Martinsville Speedway, veteran driver Scott Riggs will be behind the wheel of the No. 92 BTS Tire and Wheel Distributors/ fleetHQ.com/QMI Chevrolet Silverado.

"I'm excited about this opportunity," said Riggs. "When I raced late models at South Boston, Orange County and Myrtle Beach, I raced against Ricky's teams, so it's exciting to be going racing with a team and a group of guys that I know."

The new driver and team got a jump start on the Martinsville race last week with a test at Little Rock Speedway in Rockingham, N.C.
"I was impressed with the truck and the way it ran at Little Rock," said team manager Mike Hester. "We didn't get as much time on track as we would have liked, but the truck was pretty good and should be good when we unload (at Martinsville)."

Historic: No N.C. drivers in NASCAR race

NASCAR has long been viewed as a Southern sport, one with roots that run deep in the North Carolina country surrounding the site of Saturday night's race, Charlotte Motor Speedway.

But in this Bank of America 500, fans will witness something not seen in more than 50 years in the sport -- a race without a driver from North Carolina.

Trivia fans, take note.

So when was the last time this happened?

With Dale Earnhardt Jr. (Mooresville, N.C.) sidelined with a concussion and Scott Riggs (Bahama, N.C.) failing to make the field, the green flag will wave on a field without a driver from North Carolina for the first time since May 27, 1961, at Ascot Stadium in Los Angeles.

Paulie Harraka will not drive the No. 5 truck for Saturdays NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Michigan International Speedway. Harraka has been driving the Wauters Motorsports Ford As he completes his rookie season in the truck series.
Ted Musgrave joined the team to help Harraka’s learning on the track. Since the addition of Musgrave the team has shown improved results.
Scott Riggs will drive the No. 5 truck as Harraka and team owner Richie Wauters work out a plan for the remainder of the season.
“Paulie has grown a tremendous amount as a racecar driver this season, without question. He has continually shown the work ethic and dedication to keep learning, and the halfway point in the season marks the perfect time to take a step back and analyze everything we’ve done together up to this point.” said Wauters.
Harraka has run 11 races this season. He has not scored a top ten yet but led his first two laps at Chicagoland.
