Dave Blaney Aaron’s 499 Race Preview

Mooresville, NC – Coming off of another Top-25 finish this season, Dave Blaney and the No. 7 SANY America team head to Talladega Superspeedway this weekend for some good ole plate racing.
Blaney’s history at Talladega: Blaney has 22 starts at the 2.66 mile Superspeedway. He’s finished 3rd twice in 2007 and 2011, with an average finish of 26th.
Blaney on Talladega: “I am looking forward to heading to Talladega this weekend. We have had some pretty good races in the past and as we all know, restrictor plate racing is a bit of a game of chance. I’m hopeful we get lucky and pull off a good finish for this No. 7 SANY Chevy.”
Crew Chief/Team Owner Tommy Baldwin on Talladega: “Talladega is a challenging track for many reasons – the high speeds, use of restrictor plates and now the new Gen 6 car leave us with little notes to work with. Then again, it is Talladega and anything can and will happen, our game plan is to be prepared and stay focused.”

Richmond, VA – Tommy Baldwin Racing headed north to Richmond International Raceway for some short track racing under the lights Saturday night.
Starting off the weekend, the No. 7 SANY America Chevy SS team prepared for a full day of practice and qualifying on Friday. After making several changes to the car during the two practice sessions, Blaney was ready for qualifying. Starting 18th (his best start of the 2013 season) for Saturday’s Toyota Owners 400, Blaney was ready for 400 laps of intense racing.
As the race began, Blaney remained mid-pack, fighting to gain positions and momentum. Throughout the race, long green flag runs gave the team an opportunity to strategize about the adjustments needed to make for later in the race.
With 100 laps to go, several quick cautions allowed for Blaney to gain track position. However a caution late in the race set up the field for a green, white, checkered finish and left teams with the decision to pit or not. Crew chief Tommy Baldwin made the...

Kansas City, KS – Leaving Kansas, Dave Blaney and the No. 7 SANY America team are definitely saying “there’s no place like home,” after an eventful weekend.
An engine change on Saturday sent Blaney to the rear of the field, presenting a challenge for 267 laps of racing at Kansas Speedway. The new Earnhardt Ganassi Racing engine was ready as the green flag flew for Sunday’s STP 400. Blaney gained as much as 13 positions in the first 25 laps.
After making steady progress to the front, suddenly Blaney hit the fence at Lap 39, the result of a blown tire. Heading to the garage to evaluate the severity of the damages, the team packed up for the afternoon upon sight of the damage to the entire right side of the car.
Blaney and the No. 7 SANY America Chevy ended the race in 43rd position.

Blaney Leaves Auto Club Speedway with a Top-25 Finish

Going into this weekend at Fontana, California, Dave Blaney and the No. 7 SANY America Chevy SS, knew that the long race that awaited at Auto Club Speedway would be a challenge. After last week's disappointing end to Bristol, the goal was simple - finish the race. By that mark, Dave Blaney overachieved.

After qualifying 29th on Friday, the Tommy Baldwin Racing crew went to work during Saturday's practice sessions, making adjustments for race day.

At the drop of the green flag Sunday, Blaney began the climb to the front with the No. 7 SANY America Chevy SS. Moving all the way up to 18th, Blaney and his team were making adjustments to the car at every stop as they worked to dial in the handling to Blaney's comfort. The long green flag runs did not play in their favor, causing Blaney to go a lap down half way through the 400 mile race. On lap 121, Blaney took the wave around, and was back on the lead lap. With only 79 laps left, the charge to the front had to happen....

Disappointment in the Desert for Dave Blaney and SANY America

The debut of SANY America ended with disappointment for Dave Blaney after contact early in the Subway Fresh Fit 500. Blaney and the No. 7 SANY America Chevy SS kept digging after making repairs and brought home a 33rd place finish.

After qualifying in the 26th position, Blaney and Crew Chief/Team Owner Tommy Baldwin worked to dial in the car as they were fighting a loose handling condition. Blaney ran as high as 18th during the course of the race before contact with the No. 30 car caused him to head to the garage for repairs. The TBR team made repairs in short order, and he finished the race in 33rd and 10 laps down.

"I'm disappointed we got crashed so early into the race," Blaney said. "Having SANY America on board and this being their first race with TBR, I really wanted to get them a solid finish, but some things are out of our control. We'll take this and move on to Las Vegas with SANY America back on board."

2013 Sprint Cup Series Season Preview – #7 Dave Blaney

The NASCAR season is back upon us and it is time to get you caught up with everything that happened in the offseason. Start ‘N’ Park Blog will be going through their list of drivers running the full schedule in 2013 and telling you what you can expect from those drivers in the new year. Today’s entry is the driver of the #7 Tommy Baldwin Racing Chevrolet, Dave Blaney.
Driver: Dave Blaney
#7
Sponsor(s):
Make: Chevrolet
Team: Tommy Baldwin Racing
Crew Chief: Tommy Baldwin
2012 Finish: 33rd
What’s new for 2013: Blaney and company with use #7 this year rather than the “normal” number 36 for them.
Mike’s Rank: 33rd
Mike’s Take: Sure Blaney is the driver for right now, but how long until he’s bounced out again for another driver during the season? That is my big hurdle with ranking him higher, a team with little resources will do whatever to keep going. Even if that means putting in a driver who isn’t as good, but has sponsorship money behind him.
Jason’s Rank: 33rd
Brandon’s Rank: 29th

Dave Blaney to drive No. 7 car for TBR

Dave Blaney and Tommy Baldwin Racing will feature a new number when they hit the track in 2013. The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team will field the No. 7 Chevrolet SS in all 36 races this season.
The No. 7 had been controlled by Robby Gordon. Gordon does not expect to race in 2013.
“It is a very special moment today to announce the number 7 on our Chevrolet SS. The number has been in the Baldwin family for a long time and it is going to be pretty special to carry on that legacy in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.” said team owner Tommy Baldwin in a statement.
Blaney and TBR have run the No. 36 car together since late in 2010 after the driver left the Phil Parson team then called Prism Motorsports. The best finish for Blaney and TBR was a third place finish in the fall race at Talladega in 2011.

Blaney, the son of Sprint Cup driver Dave Blaney, was making his third start in the series. He made his Nationwide Series debut at the track this year, finishing 10th.

Blaney held off Ty Dillon after a late restart on the 0.875-mile track. Todd Bodine was third in the 200-lap race slowed by nine caution periods that took up 54 laps.

Dave Blaney drove the Tommy Baldwin Racing (TBR) No. 36 Chevrolet to a 25th-place finish in the Quicken Loans 400 at Michigan International Speedway. The No. 36 team utilized a day of testing and four practice sessions to dial in the Chevrolet. Blaney started in the 36th spot and drove into the top-25 in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) 200-lap event. Blaney took the green flag of the Quicken Loans 400 from the 36th position and quickly made his way toward the front of the field. By the first caution for a two-car incident in turn two on lap three, the No. 36 Chevrolet held the 26th position and restarted in 25th place. The Hartford, Ohio native drove into the 21st position by the second caution on lap 11 for oil on the track. He radioed that the car felt good but was already starting to tighten up. The field restarted on lap 17 with the No. 36 Chevrolet in the 19th position. Blaney drove up to 17th place on lap 17.
Blaney gives Ollie’s a bargain, gets sponsorship

Had the 54th running of the Daytona 500 not restarted following a red flag for Juan Montoya running into a jet dryer then Dave Blaney could be making the rounds this week. Instead the race did restart and Matt Kenseth took the title of Daytona 500 champion.
Fortuunatley for Blaney the viewership he gained Ollie’s Bargain Outlet was so great that the chain will sponsor the 49 year old for the cupcoming race at Phoenix. Blaney finished 15th at Daytona in the #36 car for Tommy Baldwin Racing.
The extended red flag delay while Blaney led the race featured numerous shots of Blaney and the car and eventual interviews. Last season Blaney offered similar interest in sponsor Golden Corral.
Since team owner Tommy Baldwin sold the owner points of his car to Stewart Hass Racing, Blaney must qualify for the Phoenix race on time.
