TriStar Motorsports Notes & Quotes - Johnsonville Sausage 200 at Road America

We’re Turning Left… and Right this Weekend (@TriStarRaceTeam):
The NASCAR Nationwide Series is about to shake things up this weekend. TriStar Motorsports’ drivers Cole Whitt, Eric McClure, Jeff Green and Mike Bliss will challenge the first road course of the season this weekend in rural Elkhart Lake, W.I.
Bliss to Play it Safe (@MikeBliss19):
Entering his fourth consecutive start at America’s National Park of Speed, Mike Bliss and his crew will try and play it safe this weekend at Road America.
“You have to be careful at these road courses, there are a lot of drivers out there who think they’re “road course ringers” and make mistakes. We don’t want to be involved in those mistakes,” said Bliss. “We will take our time and hope for a good outcome.”
Bliss will be one of 12 NASCAR Nationwide Series drivers to have competed in all previous events at Road America; Bliss’ best finish at Road America came last year when he placed 13th.

Bliss Overcomes Mid Race Spin to Finish 21st in Michigan

Despite some obstacles Mike Bliss and his No. 19 TriStar Motorsports crew battled in the hills of Michigan on the fast two mile oval. With a little adversity Bliss and his Toyota Camry started the Alliance Truck Parts 250 from the 28thposition.
Within the first few laps, Bliss jumped into the top-20 and stayed there for 30 laps until he started feeling loose conditions with his car. “When I try to ark it in the corner I get loose,” said Bliss. Bliss came in for a green flag pit stop at lap 30 for four Goodyear tires, a track bar adjustment and fuel.
Bliss headed back to track in the 26th position to test out the adjustments his team just made. Racing up to the 16th position, 20 laps later Bliss said, “I’m still loose even when I’m by myself.”
At lap 64, a caution fell for debris. Bliss and his Crew Chief Paul Clapprood decided to take two tires and make another track bar adjustment and top their Toyota off on Sunoco race fuel.
Upon the restart Bliss was mid-pack and spun racing o...

TriStar Motorsports Notes & Quotes - Michigan

Running on Momentum (@TriStarRaceTeam):
All TriStar Motorsports’ Toyota Camry’s finished in the top-20 last weekend at Iowa Speedway. Great leadership, good drivers and fast cars seemed to be the recipe for success. Heading into Michigan International Speedway, TriStar and its drivers are running on momentum in hopes of repeating the success of last weekend.
Bliss, Geared Up! (@MikeBliss19):
Coming off his first NASCAR Nationwide Series top-10 of the season, Mike Bliss is geared up for this weekend’s Alliance Truck Parts 250 at Michigan International Speedway.
“Michigan is a really fast track; even faster since the repave last year,” said Bliss. “To be competitive at this track you have to have a good amount of horsepower under the hood. I’m confident our Pro Motor Engine will give us enough to race with all the top contenders,” continued Bliss. Bliss will make his eighth start at the super-fast two-mile oval. Bliss’ best Michigan finish was sixth in 2008.

Mike Bliss Posts Season Best Finish at Iowa

Before Sunday’s rain delayed DuPont Pioneer 250, NASCAR Nationwide Series driver Mike Bliss emphasized how important car setup was at the 7/8-mile oval. “Your car setup is crucial - if you’re in sync you’ll run great,” he said. Bliss’ No. 19 TriStar Motorsports Toyota Camry was in sync and on a roll on Sunday morning as the field took the green flag, on a green track, for the start of the race at Iowa Speedway. Bliss qualified in the 17thposition and after an early caution on lap two, he gained one spot and held position for more than 45 laps.
On lap 50, NASCAR called a competition caution; Bliss said “the car turned good in the middle, but if I get on the gas early it’s a little tight.” Crew Chief Paul Clapprood called for a tire pressure adjustment, four tires and fuel.
Bliss was battling a slightly loose race car in the eighth position, when a caution came out at lap 136. Clapprood and Bliss decided to put on scuff tires and emphasized on a full tank of Sunoco race fuel.

TriStar Motorsports Notes & Quotes - Iowa

After a handful of races within driving distance, the TriStar Motorsports’ drivers and crews will board a plane and head out West to the most desolate track on the NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule, Iowa Speedway.
Bliss to Make Seventh Start at the 7/8th Mile Oval (@MikeBliss19):
On a track that’s still fresh to the NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule, Mike Bliss and his team will refer to the notes of his six previous starts at Iowa Speedway. Bliss is considered the most veteran driver at this track out of the TriStar stable.
“Iowa is a great track; it’s one that you can actually move around on. Your car set-up is crucial - if you’re in sync you’ll run great - if you try something new and it’s out in left field, you’ll really suffer,” said Bliss.
Bliss’ best finish at Iowa came at the inaugural event in 2009 when he placed 14th. Leading up to Iowa, Bliss is currently 12th in the NASCAR Nationwide Series driver point standings.

Making Technology Mobile; Bliss Takes 18th at Dover

Debuting a new sponsor in MTM Technologies, Mike Bliss and his TriStar Motorsports team helped Make Technology Mobile at the 1-mile oval of Dover International Speedway. Driving the No. 19 MTM Technologies Toyota, Bliss started Saturday afternoon’s 5-Hour Energy 200 from the 17th starting spot and quickly gained positions upon the wave of the green flag.
With what he felt was a top-10 car, Bliss was running comfortably in the 14th position when the event’s first caution fell on lap 48. He and Crew Chief Paul Clapprood decided to bring the MTM Technologies Camry down pit road for a few adjustments. With an error on pit road, Bliss restarted 18th with a race car that was a little too tight.
“It was an all-day battle trying to find a balance with the car,” said Bliss. “It seemed everyone was racing the same speed, making it really hard to pass and maintain position.”

“I’m really excited to have MTM on board for today’s 5-Hour Energy 200. I am confident we can have a great race in the MTM Toyota Camry and bring home a good finish,” said Bliss.

Bliss Surges to 19th Place finish at Charlotte

Charlotte was previously one of Mike Bliss’ favorite tracks but after Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series race, his opinion may differ. Bliss is happy the History 300 is just that, history. There was a lot of back and forth with car handling and track condition.
Bliss started the History 300 from the 15th position and uncharacteristically fell back in the field early in the race. “The car’s not handling bad, so I don’t know why we’re so slow,” exclaimed Bliss, who seemed slightly irritated. Shortly after, Bliss came back over the radio saying the car was “a little tight.”
At lap 39, a caution was thrown for debris, allowing Crew Chief Paul Clapprood and the No. 19 TriStar Motorsports crew an opportunity to free-up Bliss’ Toyota Camry. Doing so, they put on four fresh Goodyear tires, a full tank of Sunoco race fuel, added some tape to the grill, and made track bar and air pressure adjustments.

Bliss and the Fix-A-Flat Camry Survive Dance with the “Lady in Black”

There’s no other track on the NASCAR Nationwide Series circuit remotely comparable to Darlington’s leading lady. To leave unscathed after 147 laps of choreography at the “Lady in Black” is considered a successful effort.
New sponsor Fix-A-Flat made its’ NASCAR Nationwide Series debut on Mike Bliss’ No. 19 Toyota Camry. Ironically, Bliss and the Fix-A-Flat Camry started Friday night’s VFW Sport Clips Help a Hero 200 from the 19th starting spot.
Bliss’ race car was lively from the start. Fighting a tight condition, Bliss and Crew Chief Paul Clapprood were quick to talk adjustments. Over the radio, Bliss said, “I’m loose off four and I’m not getting into one and two comfortably.”
A caution came at lap 24 for a spin off turn two. Bliss and Clapprood now had their chance to make the Fix-A-Flat Camry more comfortable for the veteran driver. Clapprood directed his team, “We’ll go one down on the track bar, put some air in the right front, put scuffs on and a full can of fuel.” Agreein

The No. 1 brand in tire repair, Fix-A-Flat, will debut on Mike Bliss’ Toyota Camry for tonight’s NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Darlington Raceway. On a track that is notorious for ‘eating-up’ tires, the timing of Fix-A-Flat’s first appearance with TriStar Motorsports seems perfect.
“Having Fix-A-Flat on board for tonight’s VFW Sport Clips Help a Hero 200 is awesome,” said Mike Bliss, driver of the No. 19 Fix-A-Flat Toyota. “I think fans will really be able to identify with the brand, it’s a product that I’ve even used.” Fix-A-Flat is a state of the art emergency aerosol tire inflator.
Bliss Mows the Competition with Top -15 at Talladega

To have a successful race at Talladega Superspeedway you must have one thing… luck! Driving ability and equipment are also key elements, but in order to survive 117 laps around the high-banked 2.66 tri-oval, you must have luck on your side.
Mike Bliss, driver of the No. 19 Toyota for TriStar Motorsports, bobbed and weaved numerous times during Saturday night’s NASCAR Nationwide Series Aarons 312, and whether it was rain drops or race cars, Bliss had his hands full.
Bliss, who revealed a new sponsor with Dixie Chopper, started from the 24th position and quickly broke into the top- 20 by lap seven.
Bliss was being pushed by teammate Hal Martin, when he saw the No. 34 spin. In an evasive move, Bliss checked up, subsequently allowing his teammate to rear-end him. With damage to his rear bumper, Bliss and Crew Chief Paul Clapprood discussed whether to stay out or bring the No. 19 Dixie Chopper Toyota to pit road. Ultimately, Clapprood called Bliss to the pits to take a look at the bump...
