Rare calls on Kosier

Dallas Cowboys right guard Kyle Kosier had two penalties in Thursday's win against Oakland: a hands-to-face and a holding. He was also called for being downfield on a pass play, but the Raiders declined that.

That Kosier had two penalties was noteworthy only because it was double his previous total for the entire season. Before the Oakland win, Kosier's only penalty in 10 games was a false start against Atlanta. Kosier consistently receives high grades from the offensive coaches, and...

Kosier's block springs F. Jones loose

For devotees of the quick inside trap-block, guard Kyle Kosier's move on Felix Jones' 46-yard touchdown run was a classic example of how to do it.

Kosier, pulling from the opposite site, crushed tackle Tommy Kelly. That opened a hole for Jones, who quickly cut to his left to get through the opening.

Promising start ruined by penalties

ARLINGTON - The Cowboys reached the Raiders' 27-yard line on their first possession thanks to a 49-yard pass from Tony Romo to Miles Austin, but the drive fizzled with penalties against RT Doug Free (false start) and LG Kyle Kosier (illegal hands to the face).

The 49-yard pass to Austin was his longest since he caught a 49-yarder for a touchdown against Philadelphia three weeks ago. It was also Austin's first first-half catch in four games.

Checking in from Smashburger

Because we aim to be a full service blog, we bring you a post tonight from Smashburger, the new restaurant that is being run by Leonard Davis and Marc Colombo in Addison.

They held a VIP event (still not sure why I was there because I'm not V or IP) and teammates like Flozell Adams, Doug Free, Cory Procter, Pat McQuistan and Kyle Kosier were on hand. The O-line sticks together, I guess.

This Smashburger, which is located on Belt Line in Addison, will officially open Wednesday at 10 a.m....

We already told you about Marc Colombo's surgery today on his torn ligaments in his left ankle and Ken Hamlin's high ankle sprain that could keep him out 2-4 weeks.

But there are some others:

Mike Jenkins has a bruised left biceps and Wade Phillips said there is a lot of swelling. But the coach also said he expects Jenkins to play this week vs. Washington.

Flozell Adams and Kyle Kosier have ankle sprains. Phillips called both of them slight and doesn't think those will be an is...

Fans vote: Team MVPs, Offense, Defense, Special Teams

We had a good turnout for the midseason MVP ballot, so thanks to all. I counted 156 votes and tried to weed out the multiple voters that got caught up by CAPTCHA as well as at least one funny guy who didn't answer at all.

And the winners are:

Team MVP, Offense
Tony Romo - 98.5 votes
Miles Austin - 48.5 votes
Offensive line - 3 votes
Jason Witten - 2 votes
Flozell Adams - 1 vote
Kyle Kosier - 1 vote
Jason Garrett - 1 vote
