Roy Halladay: Is He, Or Any Pitcher, Worth It?

As the "Roy Halladay sweepstakes" drag on, the question about whether to deal four or five top prospects for one player keeps coming up. The Phillies in particular seem to be playing hokey-pokey with J.A. Happ.
Is it a good idea to trade top notch prospects for a potential Hall of Famer? Well, I decided to look at history to see what it can tell us.Obviously, it is rare that a former Cy Young winner gets dealt, but it has happened often enough to give us a track record: (note that I...

I Do Not Want To See Joe Torre's Man Boobs

Most of you have probably already seen this commercial, but hopefully it didn't traumatize you, like it did me. Yeah, I get the commercial, it's a cute idea. Still, if I ever made a list of things I never ever wanted to see, Joe Torre's man chesticles would be right at the top. It would be an extremely close race between that and Shawn Green circumcision pictures.

If Adam Jones is Traded, Who Replaces Him?

Adam Jones ears must be on fire, because he has been included in trade talks for Johan Santana, Erik Bedard, Joe Blanton and Ian Snell.

Endy Joins Injury List

Trailing 3-2 in the seventh inning last night, Endy stepped up to the plate with 1 out and the bases loaded. Chavez hit into an inning-ending double play, but the disappointment did not end there. About halfway down the first base line, Endy pulled up lame, grabbing his left hamstring and in obvious pain. Chavez will have an MRI today, but if the injury is as severe as it appeared, the outfielder is headed to the DL and will likely miss at least six weeks.

Chavez would join Alou and right fielder Shawn Green on the DL, leaving Carlos Gomez, Ben Johnson, and David Newhan as the team's only options in the corner outfield spots. The team could also recall someone from AAA - perhaps Ricky Ledee.

The Good, the Bald, And the Ugly

Bald is beautiful, according to the Mets...though Shawn Green looks like a milk jug with those dumbo ears. Even vets like Tom Glavine got in on the fun. Kinda reminds me of when the Sox cowboy-up-ed in '03.
