Goodbye, Homer Bailey. Hello Jake Peavy And Dan Haren

Homer Bailey, we hardly knew ye, though we may know ye again soon. Alas, young David Dewitt Bailey has been sent down from Cincinnati to their triple-A club in Louisville. In six starts he is 2-2 with a 6.99 ERA and only 28.1 innings pitched. Cincy GM Wayne Krivsky says the Reds needed "another position player for the next six or seven days" and the move will keep Bailey busy and on a regular throwing schedule. The Reds may be in last place, but they take care of their kids, damnit.

He'll also be "working on some things with (pitching coach) Dick (Pole). Hmm, there's something weird about that pitching coach's name, we just can't figure out what. Oh well, can't be too big of a deal. Anyway, we hope this move will help the young Mr. Bailey become the outstanding pitcher the Reds need him to be. The organization is making this sound like a temporary rest-stop in triple-A and the he'll be right back up with the big club. Reds fans already love him, though their expectations may be a bit on the high side.
