NBA Eastern & Western Conference Finals Preview

Who is the X-factor in the Los Angeles-Denver series? Trevor Ariza. When Ariza is making threes it opens up the Los Angeles defense and allows Kobe Bryant to drive the ball much easier. Derek Fisher has struggled offensively, meaning its up to Ariza to pick up the slack. In game seven [...]

Writers Roundtable: Breaking down BOS/ORL & LAL/HOU

1. The Celtics/Magic series has been absolutely crazy. Who wins, in how many games, and why? Daniel Evans: Magic in seven. Orlando has outplayed Boston for most of the series although it is tied 2-2. The key to the series might end up being the fans at the Boston Garden. Two of the next three games [...]

Bracketology Q & A with OnlineSportsFanatic.com

We've done this once before this season, and the response was great. I've tossed a few questions to Daniel Evans who does nightly bracketology at OnlineSportsFanatic.com and he will shed some light on the ACC and NCAA bids.

Alright, give us the quick rundown of where the ACC stands, how many teams are getting in?

The ACC actually has eight teams in on my current bracketology, but I'd be willing to bet seven is what it will get when Selection Sunday rolls around. Duke, North Carolina, Wake Forest, and Clemson are locks. Miami, Virginia Tech, Boston College, and Florida State are battling for the other at larges. FSU is in good shape.

Which teams are on the bubble? What would it take to get those teams in the NCAA tournament?

Florida State just needs to keep winning. Their comeback victory over Clemson finally opened a lot of eyes around the country and gave the Seminoles the respect they deserve. It won't take too much more for Florida State to get locked in.

BC just finished a game with Clemson and now they get Clemson, Duke, Miami (FL), and Florida State before playing the ACC's bottom feeders to finish the season. Would 8-8 do it? Probably not without a long ACC Tournament run.

Miami just played Duke and now gets North Carolina and Florida State before taking on Boston College in a huge bubble showdhown. The key for Miami is finding a way to get back to .500 in ACC play. Right now the Hurricanes are staring 4-7 in the face with UNC up next.

VT has got a very manageable immediate schedule. If the Hokies can win against Georgia Tech, Maryland, and Virginia they will be 8-3 in ACC play before taking on Florida State, Clemson, Duke, North Carolina, and Florida State to close the season. You'd have to think the Hokies could steal at least one of those since three of the five are home games.

Maryland is a fringe bubble team, but since they do have a better ACC record than Miami it's only fair to include the Terps in this discussion. If Maryland loses their next four (very likely) then they are done. Virginia Tech, Clemson, North Carolina, and Duke are up next.

Duke, UNC, Wake, Clemson: Rank them in order of most to least likely to grab a 1 seed.

North Carolina, Duke, Wake Forest, Clemson

You're going to be surprised I'm sure but my latest bracket projection (finished hours ago) has Clemson as a 5 seed. The Tigers have been playing good competition but they have lost three of their last six games. North Carolina is a 1 seed while Duke and Wake Forest are 2 seeds at this time. Isn't it kind of crazy that Wake Forest beat all three of the other teams we are discussing, yet they are 3rd in line?

Since you have your fingers on the heart of college basketball nationally, who do you think has the stronger conference, the ACC or the Big East?

Great question. With Notre Dame and Georgetown fading this question actually became a lot more difficult. I still think it is the Big East though. The ACC is fantastic, but I just think the Big East holds a slight edge. This stat might be comforting to some ACC fans though: The ACC has 8 teams in my bracket while the Big East has 7.

Any other thoughts?

The projected seeding of the ACC NCAA Tournament teams at this point is:
North Carolina: 1
Duke: 2
Wake Forest: 2
Clemson: 5
Florida State: 7
Boston College: 9
Virginia Tech: 11
Miami FL: 12

Thanks as always to Daniel for answering my questions and don't forget to check out OnlineSportsFanatic.com.
