KC made big plays, Steelers didn’t.

Can’t be too upset about the loss today. Football is all about big plays and key moments. KC made them, PIT didnt.
1. Steelers give up KR TD to start the game. You almost deserve to lose the game right then and there.
2. Heath Miller drops an easy catch at the Kansas City 38 yard line. [...]

Greetings Steeler Nation. Always more enjoyable to get back to work on a Monday following a Steelers victory. A quick post here about how tight end Heath Miller is being much more heavily involved in Bruce Arians' and Ben Roethlisberger's passing attack so far in 2009 than he has been in the first four...

Steelers Lock Up Heath Miller for Six More Years

by JJ CooperFiled under: Steelers, AFC North, NFL Free AgencyThe Steelers had a pretty lengthy to-do list for the offseason, but a little over a day before training camp starts, they've managed to check off nearly every key task. The announcement that tight end Heath Miller has signed a six-year extension worth $35.3 million does a very good job of getting the Steelers ready for training camp. Since the Super Bowl, Pittsburgh has re-signed or extended the contracts of James Harrison, Chris...

Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Heath Miller has agreed to a six-year contract that runs through the 2014 season.

Miller, one of the top blockers among NFL tight ends, had one season remaining on the five-year contract he signed after being Pittsburgh's first-round draft pick in 2005.

Six More Years Of Heath Miller

That my friends is a good thing. According to the Steelers official website the talented tight end agreed to a six year contract today.I have never been afraid to shout my love for Heath from the rooftop so I have no problem telling you how happy this makes me. For real, I am so pumped by this news that I might actually engage my wife in sexual intercourse. As usual I will be thinking of Heath going across the middle and picking up a first down.Wait, don't go. I probably went a little too...

There was some early doubt about the Steelers bringing back tight end Heath Miller after this season. Put those doubts to rest. Miller, maybe the best TE in Steelers history, inked a six-year deal with the club on Wednesday, meaning once camp starts he won’t have to talk about where he may be [...]

Steelers Should Focus on Getting TE Miller a New Deal

As pointed out in today’s Beaver County Times, Miller, who set a career high [...]

DEKKER'S ARREST LETS MEDIA SAY, "STEELER ARRESTED"

Go to any number of websites today and you'll see a story with a title along the lines of "Steeler Arrested". After your heart skips several beats and you wonder who it was, you then see that it was tight end Jon Dekker, who was about as close to getting into game action this year as you or I. Honestly, the only reason I even knew of Dekker's existence was from the Steeler charity basketball game I attended in 2008. In case you've forgotten what he looks like (which I&#3...

A story worth passing on. Heath Miller: from one tight end to another...

Here's a story that I found too awesome to keep to myself. Its the kind of story that everybody should hear, but ends up getting no press. Unless ESPN is doing its Make-a-wish series, they don't have time for stuff like this.

Larry Hedden is a redshirt Junior Tight End for Furman's football team. In the purple and white scrimmage to kick off the football season he separated his shoulder and missed the first couple games of the season. Then in early October he lost his father to cancer. About a month later, in a game against Georgia Southern, he completely blew out his knee. Torn ACL, LCL, and PCL. On the sidelines they couldn't get his kneecap to stay in place. He had surgery and as far as I know his recovery is going smoothly. Unfortunately, the injury ended his football career.

We had practice today a 3:30 and had weight lifting immediately after. At one point in between sets, our strength coach told a few of us about a package Larry recently received in the mail. It was from Heath Miller, the tight end for the Pittsburgh Steelers. The package contained an autographed football and some other odds and ends. There was a note that said something like "From one tight end to another....Good luck recovering". I thought this was a really awesome gesture from Heath Miller. He's quickly become my favorite NFL tight end. Its never hard for me to cheer for someone that takes the time to do something like that. Like I said, I couldn't resist sharing this story. Larry and his family have had a rough year and are in my prayers and I encourage you to do the same.
