Grant, Barton Go Late and More Gholston Goodness

Thanks to late Sunday calls, Larry Grant and Kirk Barton will be getting a chance to prove they belong at the next level. Both were taken in the seventh round, Grant by San Francisco and Barton by the Bears.

Aside from the thrill of, you know, hearing your name called in the NFL draft, Grant will surely see his streak of consecutive championship game losses ended with the 49ers and Barton missed "Mr. Irrelevance" status by 5 spots. So, happy thoughts all around.

Fullback Dionte Johnson was not selected and will try to make teams via the free agency route. Johnson's dad, the defensive line coach in New England, has enough contacts in the league to at least get Dionte some looks.

But back to Gholston — how will a guy that seems so shy and humble handle the fans and media in New York? Jets fans at the draft seemed to like the pick, chanting "VER-non GHOL-ston" leading up to the selection (while impressively keeping their bearing to break into boos when it was announced that the Pats were on the clock).

RYAN TO THE CHIEFS!

As the 2008 NFL Draft is approaching the top 5 picks are becoming a more difficult read than the bible. The Dolphins are talking contracts with Jake Long, Michigan's monster left tackle, future superstar Darren McFadden is getting more hype than ever, and once again the New England Patriots hold the best position in the first round. A tad hungover from that Yankees/Sox battle in the Bronx last night; I'm going to attempt to put together a comprehensive top 5 selections for the fans.

Vernon Gholston The "GUNSHIP", just dropping by for the NFL Combine.....

The Ohio State has done it again. Producing another fine young specimen. Vernon Gholston may not be your typical house hold name, yet! The NFL will soon feature this young monster on Sundays, and let me tell you, his name will be heard more and more as he fine tunes his skills paired with the best the NFL has to offer in coaching. This is nothing new to me, I've been watching this guy barrel over the best the NCAA had to offer. My personal favorite is the footage of "GUNSHIP" lined up across from Jake Long of Michigan. He just mows over Jake, knocking him on his backside for the TFL on Mr.Mike "my mouth is bigger than my" Hart. Yes, The Ohio State went on to win that one, just in case you were wondering. Just take a look at this footage from the combine and make up your own mind!!!

THE Ohio State Buckeyes headed to New Orleans for BCS Title game

For the second consecutive year, THE Ohio State Buckeyes will play for the BCS National Championship Title game. In truly what must be the most incredibly college football season, both #1 and #2 lost tonight, to more than likely, put #3 Ohio State back into the #1 slot again. Of course, three weeks ago, when Ohio State lost to then unranked Illinois and dropped to #7, it looked as though the National Title aspirations were over. Little did we know that all six teams ahead of the Buckeyes would keystone cop their way out of their shot at the title. Well, maybe all six.

The only question remaining is, who will be #2? Currently, the #3 Buckeyes are followed by #4 Georgia, #5 Kansas, #6 Virginia Tech, #7 LSU, #8 USC and #9 Oklahoma. Here's where it gets intriguing:
