Jags Take QB/TE Zach Miller from Nebraska-Omaha With Their 6th Round Pick

The first thing you will say when I say Zach Miller from Nebraska-Omaha is: Who?
Believe me, I said the same thing too when I saw the pick come in. So I did some research and I like what I see.
He was a college QB, similar in size and speed to a Tim Tebow, but [...]

Heyward-Bey to the Bay: Raiders draft a receiver with seventh pick

Tom Cable wanted an Escalade. Al Davis bought him a CTS.
After looking over the prospects in the ‘09 draft, Tom Cable referred to the top four left tackles as “Cadillacs”.
Most assumed Jason Smith, Eugene Monroe, Andre Smith and Michael Oher were the Big Bodied vehicles coach Cable sought.
As it turns out, Al Davis had his eyes on a Cadillac as well, a sports car.
With Monroe and Oher on the board, not to mention another model of Cadillac named B.J. Raji available, and ever...

Sports Agent With Political Ambitions

New SportsAgentBlog.com columnist, Zach Miller, loves to talk about the tie-in of politics with sports. While there are many connections between the two subjects, one rarely hears about a sports agent getting into the world of lobbying and promises (I am talking about politics here!). When I am asked about my future aspirations, I often jokingly reply that my dream is to become the first Jewish president. Part of the joke revolves around the fact that I really do not believe that becoming a sports agent is a great precursor to lofty political goals. Maybe I am wrong…

A sports agent out of Asheville, NC is trying to win a vacant City Council seat. His name is Brian Woods and apparently he manages several professional tennis players. Hopefully, Woods wears his best Ari Gold power suit. Good luck to Woods and any other sports agent with potential political ambitions.

Key Fantasy Matchups for Sunday's Raiders-Saints Matchup

Raiders TE Zach Miller vs. Saints SS Roman Harper
The Raiders finally let Miller loose last week after defenses had clamped down on him through three games. He had five receptions for 95 yards, including a career-best 61-yard touchdown catch that came when four receivers ran vertical routes and quarterback JaMarcus Russell found him in [...]

Raiders take a pass on scoring

Raiders coach Lane Kiffin said he wanted to see what his offense could do if he opened up the playbook Saturday night against the Arizona Cardinals and let quarterback JaMarcus Russell drop back and fire at will.

Well, he saw. And you couldn't have blamed Kiffin if he had requested a blindfold long before the first half ended in the Raiders' 24-0 loss.
And I'm not even talking about the knee injuries to wide receiver Drew Carter, one of the Raiders' key free-agent pickup...

AFC West Tight Ends from an Oakland Raiders' Eye View

Tonight's edition of "From an Oakland Raiders' Eye View" focuses on the most underrated position in modern football, the tight end. As was true with the other positions outlined so far, the teams are similar in that they all have high quality tight ends. Lets see, all the teams have young quarterbacks, top flight running games, and average receiving squads, and now top tight ends. A dependable tight end can be a quarterback's best friend in the passing game. Antonio Gates and Tony Gonzalez are both the best friend their QBs could ask for. Zach Miller has already developed a chemistry with his young signal caller, and Daniel Graham brings Super Bowl experience to the table. How do these guys stack up?

Raiders Owner Al Davis made a subtle, nonchalant statement: Thoughts from a Reader's Side

Stepping away from mocking the draft for a few minutes we have some crack analysis from our reader and first time contributer to Thoughts from a Reader's Side with Captain Blues Buckholz aka Raider Blues. Blues wins the award for the furthest traveled to get here as his post made it in from Afghanistan. The Raider Nation is world wide. Blues takes a look at the statement that Al Davis has made with the roster moves over the last couple of seasons as the Oakland Raiders are rebuilding. He praises the additions of JaMarcus Russell, Zach Miller, and Michael Bush and speculates on the forthcoming draft.

The Oakland Raiders have gaping holes to fill this offseason

One thing that the 2007 season showed is that despite the improvement there are still gaping holes in the Raiders' squad that need to be filled. The offense showed a renewed spark in the 2007 season, but the defense underperformed expectations. With the drafting of JaMarcus Russell and Zach Miller, and the addition of Tom Cable and the zone blocking scheme, the Raiders have a core in offense to build around. The defense has the young core of Nnamdi Asomugha, Kirk Morrison, Thomas Howard, and Derrick Burgess to build around. Outside of the core players, there are some positions in much more need than others. This is a look at each position and the needs of each, with green being essentially set, yellow meaning it could be upgraded, and red meaning it is an urgent need.
