UPDATE 4:07 P.M.: The union just released the list of players that filed for free agency today. Erik Bedard, Endy Chavez and Miguel Batista were among the 39 players to do so, joining Adrian Beltre and Mike Sweeney from yesterday. So far, 118 players have filed. The only eligible Mariners not to file are Ken Griffey Jr. and Russ Branyan -- not coincidentally, the two Mariners most likely to re-sign before hitting the open market.

We're in a rain delay situation here in Texas. It's expected to last at least one hour, with an update expected at 6 p.m. Pacific time. Plenty of Ichiro fans here to see whether he'll notch a record ninth straight 200-hit season. But I'll tell you what, if they don't get this game in tonight, he might not set the record until he's back in Seattle. Mariners Shopping Batista?

The Mariners are reportedly shopping pitcher Miguel Batista, the Seattle News Tribune is reporting. Batista, who will make 9 million dollars this season, went 4-14 with a 6.26 ERA in 44 games last season. Batista has given up six earned runs in 10.1 innings this spring. Batista, 38, won 16 games last season with a 4.29 ERA in 33 starts for the Mariners.
Sources with knowledge of the Mariners thinking say that the Mariners will try to trade a portion of his salary before releasing him. Batista has been more of a ground ball pitcher over the course of his career, so if the Mariners are willing to take on his salary, he could be moved.
