Jarrod Washburn, Closer?

Yes Jarrod Washburn got the save on Wednesday. With all the bullpen craziness going on in the majors lately it would be reasonable to assume that this was just part of the trend. Instead, it is completely the opposite.

Rotogod here. People have begun sending messages asking me about their fantasy baseball teams in 2008.

Today, I'll be digging through the mail bag in the hopes of helping some of you all at home out. Let's get it on.

Catch Me If You Can: Los Angeles Angels, Seattle Mariners - American League Preview 2008

Of all the divisional races in Major League Baseball, none is being written off as already over like the American League West where the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim are seen as near-locks to make the playoffs. The Seattle Mariners beg to differ. In 2007, the Mariners managed to offer the Angels some legitimate competition until a painful series in late August where the Angels swept the Mariners as they fell from two games back to five. The Mariners spent the 2007-08 off-season making two major acquisitions signing Carlos Silva and trading for Erik Bedard, bolstering their starting rotation. The Angels signed center fielder Torii Hunter and traded Orlando Cabrera for John Garland. How will these two teams compare in 2008?

2008 Top 5 MLB Starting Pitching Staffs

New York Mets
Johan Santana, Pedro Martinez, Oliver Perez, John Maine, Orlando Hernandez, Mike Pelfrey
When you have Santana at the top, you automatically have a great pitching staff. He is the ace of the major leagues and is looking at a huge season, not only because he moves to the National League, but unlike the Twins, the Mets can actually score runs! Those two or three no decisions that come from his team's inability to score will be wins in Flushing. Pedro, if healthy, has shown that he is still a very effective pitcher. Oliver Perez should take the next step towards dominant this year, if he could just cut down on those walks. Expect 16-18 wins for him. Maine had a stellar first half, and then fell back to earth after the All-Star Break. Orlando Hernandez might be 55 years old, but is still getting batters out, and if Mike Pelfrey ever figures it out, he's got the stuff to be a extraordinary pitcher. The Mets' are going to strike a lot of hitters out this year. The top four in their rotation are all guys who average nearly a strike out an inning. And as stated before, their offense is good enough, that even some days when the starters don't bring their best stuff, they still might be able to win an 9-7 type of game.
2. Boston Red Sox
Josh Beckett, Daisuke Matsusaka, Jon Lester, Tim Wakefield, Clay Buchholz, Curt Schilling, Bartolo Colon
Beckett easily could have won the AL Cy Young Award last year, as he was the only pitcher to win 20 games. Outside of his first year in Boston, Josh has had a good consistent career, and is the ace of this staff and one of the first five pitchers off the board in most fantasy drafts. Matsusaka struggled last year in his first season in America, but he still won 15 games and fanned 200 guys. It was a year of transition for Dice, a new team, a new country, a new language, and a new 5-man rotation (instead of six in Japan). Considering all he had to handle, I'd say he did quite well. Jon Lester has been one of the more inspirational stories to come along in recent memories. One of the top pitching prospects for the Sox, he beat cancer and came back to pitch in the majors in 2007. Be a little wary of his 11-2 career record, he's on a very good team and his ERA is over 4.50. Walking batters has been his biggest problem thus far, and if he can get that under control, expect him to win 10-13 games. Tim Wakefield may pitch until he is in his late 40s (not to mention keep Doug Mirabelli employed), and he has never been exciting, but he will eat up innings and win double digit games. Clay Buchholz is one of the more exciting prospects to come down the pipe in a while. He has dynamite stuff, and even threw a no-hitter in his second career start. With the injury to Curt Schilling, Buchholz will get his chance to prove he belongs right now. Curt Schilling will be missing at least the first half of the season, maybe more. If he's able to come back, he will give the Sox a huge second half push. Boston brought in former Cy Young winner Colon to try to resurrect his career. He is basically insurance against injuries at this point, but could prove valuable if one of their starters is unable to go.

A.L West Preview

Hey everyone the final division preview is here and the next post is either my planned schedule for the 30 teams in 30 days preview. Which may feature Ryan Parker because I just messaged him a hour or so ago so let's just wait and see.So let's get started with the preview.
1.LA Angels
Can the defending AL West champs take the tittle in 08' and hold of the surging Mariners, let's just wait and enjoy. One of the main reasons for the Angels success in 07' was the great staff they had with such guys like Weaver,Lackey and of course Kelvim Escobar. With the addition of Jon Garland to this staff that has a plethora of great ptichers all they need is a good season from Ervin Santana who had a poor season last year and this might be a top 5 rotation in the majors. Despite people saying that this lineup was horrible in 07' and couldn't score runs well think again. Ok maybe this may not be the best lineup in the league but this is a pretty good lineup with guys like Howie Kendrick, the speedy Chone Figgins and of course the always powerful Vlad Gurrero. SO I'm looking for this team to get up to 90 to 95 wins in 08'
2. Seattle Mariners
One of the teams that sneaked up on us all late last year surging the angels are looking for to take them out and win the AL West and maybe do alot more in 08'. Even though they can't compare to the Angels this rotation is good with guys like Felix, the surprising Miguel Batista, and the newly signed vet Carlos Silva. So if all these guys play up to full potential then this could be a good staff.
The lineup for this team is about equal to the angles but maybe a little better. Well they have the great force of Ichiro who can run circles around half of the players in the league. They also have one of what I think a top 10 catcher in the majors in Kenji Johjima who was on my fantasy team last year and they also have a great young player in Adam Jones.
3. Texas Rangers
One of the teams that should go out of the cellar has to be the Rangers, The A's are going down the drain and the Rangers have made some good moves in the offseason.
This rotaton is looking pretty good they have some good veteran leadership in Kevin Millwood and Vicente Padilla and some good young pitchers who you should watch out for in Kameron Loe and Brandon McCarthy. So if Millwood helps Loe and McCarthy and they both at least get 10 wins and a 4.00 ERA than this is a pretty decent rotation.
I really like this lineup with the great mix of the younger players and the veterans, the good younger players include Hank Blalock and my personal favorite Ian Kinsler. Even though they're looking good I'm kinda worried about some of the players on this team like Josh Hamilton and Milton Bradley who both have had some of there own problems.
4. Oakland A's
Wow I remember when this team was top notch with the pitching staff that included Mulder, ZIto, and TIm Hudson and when they had Jason Giambi and Miguel Tejada, what happened to this team.
Now that they got rid of Danny Haren the already creaking ship known as the A's rotation is gonna looking like it's gonna sink. This may look like a good rotation on paper but you can take Rich Harden out because he can't last 10 games without getting injured, So it's either Joe Blanton and Chad Gaudin, Joe Blanton is another average starter and Chad Gaudin really didn't do much in his first full season in the majors.

Miguel Batista Stole God's Angel

I have been obsessed with all the articles I read about Miguel Batista's girlfriend. One article stated that she works out at the Gold's Gym in Ahwatukee, Arizona. No brainer, one day, I worked out at that gym and did my own investigation. Taj is clearly famous in that gym. Everyone had great things to say about her. It took me a good 3 weeks and finally! The exotic beauty showed up! Taj took my breath away! She was mysterous, had a great smile, something about Taj that's elegantly peaceful. The skin on that woman is phenomenal! She walked in there with her children. Her body doesn't indicate any childbearing years. She's got and amazingly great shape. As soon as she walked in, the energy of the gym transformed, mainly on men. She turned many heads (on some women too! I'm sure they're hating her). I wanted to introduce myself, however, I didn't get the courage to do so. I will continue to work out in that gym and just maybe one day I will get the chance to say hello to one of God's most beautiful angel.

Batista Striking Right Notes

A quiet pregame moment recently found de facto teacher Miguel Batista huddled in the Mariners clubhouse with his latest student.

On many occasions, it's the younger pitchers doing the listening to the team's most senior mound member. This time though, it was Jose Guillen Jr., the 7-year-old son of the Mariners right fielder, sitting enthralled as Batista schooled him on the finer aspects of playing a soprano saxophone.

IS ALEX RODRIGUEZ DATING MIGUEL BATISTA'S GIRLFRIEND? ARE THERE SHORTAGE OF WOMEN?

NEED CLARIFICATION! I read some articles and comments about this. Can someone clarify if indeed this was true? According to some articles, Miguel Batista's girlfriend Taj lives in Arizona. With all the wonderful articles about how wonderful Miguel and Taj are and how madly in love they are with each other, why the need to go out with Alex Rodriguez? Isn't he married? Was Taj the stripper that Alex Rodriguez got caught with a couple of months ago? But that was in Canada! I guess Taj gets around! I am confused, majority of the articles about Miguel and Taj are so positive and yet some are just plain old nasty! WHAT'S THE DEAL?????

A MLB PLAYER SAVED MY MARRIAGE !!!

Not only he is a marvelous writer and a baseball player he also has a great taste when it comes to women. Behind a great man stands a phenomenal woman. Miguel Batista's love of his life lives in Arizona. I had the opportunity of meeting her. They were at the David Copperfield Magic Show 2007. Just like Miguel, she was confident, intelligent, classy, uniquely gorgeous, alluring, enchanting and something about her that was so mesmerizing! She spoke to my daughters. My daughters thought that she was an angel. She was tiny, caramel skin tone, beautiful tantalizing eyes, long silky highlighted hair, the whitest teeth I've ever seen and the most amazing radiant smile! They could not stop talking about her. I applaud Mr. Batista for his taste of woman. I introduced myself and my family to him and his girlfriend. His girlfriend has an amazing and yet fitting name, Taj Mahal. They both were wonderful and down to earth. His girlfriend even teased my daughters and they absolutely thought she was funny! They looked perfect and very at peace with each other. They kept starring at each other and smiled often, you can just feel the love between the beautiful couple. The reason why I am writing this is to show how much that moment meant to me and my wife. We were in a verge of divorce. By seeing Miguel Batista and his girlfriend Taj Mahal that night at the magic show and how much they were so in love with each other made me realized how valuable my marriage was and it brought back memories of how I used to be in love with my wife. That was indeed magical with every sense of the word. I guess, at some point, some of us need some positive reminders to appreciate the most valuable person / people in our lives. They saved my marriage and I am forever grateful to both of them. It was indeed a magical night! More power to Miguel Batista and Taj Mahal. Now my daughters love watching baseball with me and they are his solid fans! Not only they saved my marriage, but it is stronger than ever. I am bonding with my daughters too, I never thought I would be watching the Mariners games with them. I live here in Phoenix. I love the DBacks, since Miguel and Taj made a huge impact in our lives, WE Love the Mariners as well.

TO ASK OR NOT TO ASK (I WANT TO ASK MIGUEL BATISTA'S GIRLFRIEND TAJ ON A DATE)

READERS:
For the first time in my life I can not come up with an answer. I used to play with Miguel Batista. A couple of months ago I saw his girlfriend Taj having lunch with her friends. Till this very day, I can not stop thinking about her. Last week I saw her while I was playing. My heart was beating so fast! I thought I was having a heart attack! No woman has ever made me feel that way. She made my day. I know one of her good friends. Should I tell her good friend about how I feel? I am willing to take a risk. If nothing else, I would love just to talk and have coffee with her.
WHAT SHOULD I DO????

I KNOW WHY THEY RAVE ABOUT MIGUEL BATISTA'S GIRLFRIEND TAJ

Along came a woman by the name of Taj Mahal ( who currently lives in Arizona) I met her three years ago to be exact. I didn't realize that the woman of my dream is Miguel Batista's girlfriend till last March when I saw the two of them at RA Sushi Restaurant in Ahwatukee/Phoenix.

I am writing this article because I don't like how some people formed their opinion and wrote articles about Taj and her relationship with Miguel Batista. It is such a waste of time to talk badly about people, especially when they don't have any idea of who they are talking or forming an opinion about.

I have worked with Taj for 3 years at some non profit organizations. She is a fantastic woman. She exudes class, sexiness, highly intelligent, beautiful, gorgeous caramel skin, long hair that moves gracefully as she walks, eyes that could kill, very tiny and the hottest bod in the female species. Most of all, I love her sense of humor! She is always making fun of herself! Nothing sexier than a gorgeous woman that can make fun of herself. I never saw her frowning. She's always laughing or smiling. She's a very down to earth person, genuinely loves being around children. We nicknamed her the "children's magnet" because when she's around, all the children will just flocked on her. She has a way of making everything right, and peaceful.

To me, Taj is a very private person. Whenever I see her at a charity event(s), she is always dateless and would never discuss anything personal. A lot of men are fascinated by her physically and mentally. They tried to find out the scoop on Taj, however, no one succeded except the lucky Miguel Batista. I wonder how he courted her?

Questions to your readers:
1) Should I ask her out knowing that she is still with Miguel Batista? Do I dare to be bold?

2) How should I ask a woman like her?

3) Is it wrong for me to keep this feeling from her for three years now?

Readers, thank you for all your support and suggestions.

Miguel Batista with His Girlfriend Taj in St. Mary's Basilica
submitted by amelia
Posted: July 03, 2007

rate it: I saw them at the St. Mary's Basilica Catholic Church in downtown Phoenix a few months ago. I happened to talk to her because she waited and held the church's door opened for me. I am a handicap person. I thought that was sweet of her to do that and we just begun talking. She knelt just so she can see me eye to eye and she properly introduced herself to me. When she told me her name, I thought she was kidding! How can you forget the name Taj Mahall? But she told me to call her Taj for short. I can see why her parents named her after the seven wonders of the world. That Taj Mahal I met at the church is the only living wonder and now instead of the Seven Wonders of the World, it's officially the "8th WONDERS" She was very friendly. She had a way of making you feel at ease. I can sense that Tajmahal has a gift of making you feel special and appreciated. She told me that she was a single mother of four children. I was amazed, you can not tell that she's even got a child. Let alone, four children? What a woman! I told her that women without children doesn't even look as good as her not even halfway. She smiled and humbly said "thank you". I asked if she was a regular church goer, she said no, and that she was waiting for someone special, when that someone special finally arrived it was Miguel Batista. I was shocked to see them in that church. I think it's great that they go to church together. There was no mass on that particular afternoon. To me, I they are good people. Tajmahal had an angelic look to her, but with brown silky skin, the most amazing skin I have ever seen! Her smile is radiant and those teeth were the whitest ! I am pretty sure she is a mixture of different races. Looking at the two them, Taj was very tiny and pettie, long beautiful highlighted hair, her high cheek bones complimented her smile, the way she stares at you, you can't help but giggle or even melt because you feel overwhelmed with grace. Miguel is tall, gorgeous green eyes, mascular, athletic, dark skinned, he has a sense of seriousness and somewhat protective of her, he's strong, and yet when he looked at her, you can tell he surrenders it all to Taj. I can tell he's deeply in love with her. It was certainly a joyous afternoon for me. You see, being handicap, I never really got the chance to give and receive love. So therefore, all I do is reflect on lovers and the way they stare or interact with each other, I think I am pretty good when it comes to observing people. I read different articles about Miguel and Taj, I don't know why some men were so focused on her certain body parts and drool like a foolish dog. I think that men should focused more on a women's inside. Fortunately for Miguel Batista, Taj's got it all! I had the priveledge of talking to her, in an instant without a doubt Taj is the real deal. Her tantalizing eyes has a compass to ones soul, they're extremely beautiful! What an elegant and a classy woman! Being a handicap person, I have been to different charity events and majority of the people in that event are just there to pass their guilt and the big TAX WRITEOFF DONATIONS! Most of those people are not real. They pretend to care. I wished people like Taj and Miguel would be in many charity events. I know that Taj's presence would make a huge difference with people like me. I wonder if Taj and Miguel have their own charity? They are smart for going to church. Probably the only place that no one would bother and judge them. They're very normal and loving people. Taj was so down to earth but Miguel Batista was somewhat preoccupied. Maybe the stress of being a huge ball player is getting through him. I don't know if Taj will get to read this article. If you do, I want you to know that for the first time in my life, I actually felt someone genuinely cared for me. You made a huge difference in my life and I am forever grateful to you Taj. I have been going to that church for years, and I have never gotten any respect or has anyone gave me any time of their day to chat or even get to know me. Taj changed that. I have a positive outlook in life now. I pray that I will see her in person again. Wherever you are Taj Mahal it was definitely an honor to have met you. I thank you with all of my heart.

Yes! I actually saw them at the Compass Room in Hyatt downtown Phoenix. They looked lovely together. This lady is quite a catch! She was extremely elegant and so beautiful. Her features are phenomenal! They're were having dinner few tables away from ours. She was intruiguing for sure. Miguel is very blessed to have a woman like her. She was very friendly just like how you described her. Physically, what a gorgeous woman! Yes, I agree that she's a mixture of different races. What an exotic goddess!! I wanted to talk to them but I didn't want to disrupt their romantic dinner. When they left the restaurant, everyone was talking about her, not necessarily about Miguel. She made quite an impression with the crowd. She was unforgettable! Now reading this article about Miguel and Taj Mahal ( what a name! it fits her!) I like her more! and don't get me wrong, I like Miguel now too because of his great choice. Way to go!

I read the article about A Rod's Wife wearing a vulgar t- shirt ( F### Y##) when she showed up at the game. She needs to consider that there are children around. What a selfish little witch. She needs to learn a lot and I personally think she needs to look up to Miguel's girlfriend. Whatever her marital problem is should just be left in their home or divorce court. We don't care for her and A Rod's drama!

What happens to you guys? Why do you think this girl (Taj) is his girlfriend? I know him and he has a girlfriend but she is from Dominican Republic and believe me Taj is not her name. Sorry for Taj, because He is in love but Taj is not the woman of his dreams. I am sure.

After reading more article and different women talking about Miguel and the dog that he is, it is a blessing that Taj has not allowed herself to be corrupted by someone like Miguel. Like I said, I know Taj from different charity work, and she has a strong sense of moral values and will not tolerate someone like him. Sayonara Miguel. I am so happy to hear that Carmen! LOL!!!

Do you speak English? Learn how to speak and write properly in English. Here another suggestion, why don't you just go back where you came from? I am his current girlfriend here in States and this Taj chick is totally not his girlfriend.

Wow small world! I know that we are talking about just one person and definitely this is the Taj that I know from a charity work. The way that Amelia described her and seriously, how many Taj Mahal in this world with the same description and kindness? I know she will be thrilled about this marvelous article!
I did not know about her and Miguel Batista though. Taj is a very private person. She keeps to herself. I totally agree with this article about how great Taj is . I have worked with her with numerous charities for over 7years. She is not a taker. Taj is a great giver! She does a lot for children and senior citizens. I often wonder how she juggles all, children, work, charities, volunteering, Taj is quiet amazing. I can only pray that whoever she falls in love with, better be worth every inch of her being. She is a remarkable woman and I hate to see people take advantage of her goodness. So Amelia, when I see Taj, I will share this article with her and urge her to visit the church and hopefully the two of you can reunite. God bless you!

She'll learn the hard way, like we all have, I'd know.....hint Mia-Batise turned 10 in April,he has no idea! She has beautiful green eyes, caramel skin, and my long Auburn hair.Cheater inbedded through and through, Tripla A dated him way too long,His own teammates helped me catch him cheating. But he left me a gift. Poor Claudia, she actually went through with it and married him after everyone else dumped him. I guess now she knows. I should thank her. Poor Taj is she's in the web of his deciet, and poor who-ever else he becomes involved with. He's the best player I ever dated, but I out played him, I even had him convinced he lost his hair because he cheated on me on my Birthday, and he was at Triple A, used my name to get in free to the club, and get free drinks.
Let me see, poems, love songs played over the ohone together listened to while he's on the road, he sings Country love songs to you...on his knees with candles lit, that's the opening, believe me it changes, the real guy is a nightmare.!
