Regardless of how this postseason ends up (please, not the Yankees winning, please), we have already had more than our share of exciting, close games, with controversial umpiring calls, clutch hitting by various players, and misplays at the worst possible time.

There's absolutely no doubt that Maicer Izturis made t...

Angels Need Some to Watch Some of Those Tom Emanski Videos

The Angels are on one of the biggest stages possible and coming close to embarrassing themselves. They’re now down 0-2 in the ALCS to the Yankees and they’ve committed five errors, three in Game 1 and two in Game 2. The most egregious error ended Game 2 in the 13th when Maicer Izturis [...]

Sloppy play, missed opportunities doom Angels to excruciating loss

NEW YORK – Playoff losses don't get any longer or more excruciating than this.
Maicer Izturis' throwing error led to the Yankees' game-winning run in the 13th inning

After 5 hours and 10 minutes, 13 innings and more missed opportunities than they could recall, the Angels fell 4-3 to the Yankees in Game 2 of the ALCS Saturday night to fall behind 2-0 in the best-of-seven series.
That the loss came on a throwing error by second baseman Maicer Izturis on an attempted force ...

Final Score: Yankees 4, Angels 3 (13)
1st and 2nd, one out, bottom of the 13th in a fascinating game that was 3-3, when Melky Cabrera bounced one to the left of 2Bman Maicer Izturis, who spun and threw to second -- or sort of in that general direction, wildly, allowing the winning run to score. Here's why it was such an exceptional bonehead play by Izturis, given that there was no chance for a DP:

Hey guys, thought you may find this piece I had over at THT interesting. I've always felt that Maicer was under-appreciated, and hopefully he gets more credit down the road.

Holland Loses No-No

Maicer Izturis smashes a single up the middel to break up Holland’s no-hitter with two out in the sixth. That’s the only hit the Angels have so far, as the game goes to the seventh with the Rangers lead 3-0.

Izzy Comes Up Big

In the Yard with an Angel update.

Our offense did a great job today and helped us finish the series against Tampa with a W. Kazmir has been hot and he threw a great game today. To get four runs off a guy pitching that well is a pretty good job and we needed all of them today. Izzy came up with the big hit in the 8th to get us in front. He's been on fire and his hit today was exactly what we needed. He really goes about his business like a pro. Never complains about a thing and no matter where he is in the lineup or what position he plays, he shows up each day. He is a key component to our club.

When you're going against a guy who's as hot as Kazmir has been and going as good as he's been you definitely don't want to give in to those guys. They got a run early and there were some spots I could have given in and thrown a fastball, but threw breaking balls instead just because one run may be the difference. I think the way I pitch, velocity doesn't mean a whole lot. I've learned to move the ball both ways these days and throw breaking pitches for strikes, so it doesn't mean as much as it would for some guys. I've been going pretty good. I've been keeping us in games and we've been able to win some of them. It's too early to get too excited, just got to keep it going.
