Corey Simon got another contract

Simon signed and practiced today with the Tennessee Titans.

"Corey brings a combination of run-stuffing size and pass rushing ability to the defensive tackle position," said Titans General Manager Mike Reinfeldt. "Prior to last season, he has been a consistent and productive player who contributed to playoff teams and we are excited to see him get a second chance here with the Titans to prove he still has that ability."

That's painting a pretty rosey picture there Mike... Not really the case, but he's trying his best to make it look like a good move. Also, if you read the article, they made a pretty funny error. They say Simon was "A sixth-round pick by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2000, he was a Pro Bowl selection in 2003." Corey Simon was of course the 6th overall pick in the draft, not a 6th round pick.

Good News and bad News Colts fans.

Well lets start with the bad news. Anthony "Buger" McFarland, is on the IR and will be inactive for the 2007 season. This comes very soon after the Colts terminated a contract with Corey Simon. So in the DT tackle posistion along with every other defensive posistion, is going to need someone to step up and earn a starting role. Good news. The Colts offense has only two questions, who will backup Addai, if necessarry. And will the O-Line keep Peyton safe, well those questions arent the good news. The good news is so far after watching the starters only drive in a preseason game it looks like the offense is in for a big year. So a few questions to answer on both sides of the ball. Only time will tell.

The Bizarre Tale of Corey Simon

We all pretty much know how the story of Corey Simon started. Right here in Philadelphia when the Eagles picked him with the #6 overall pick in in the 2000 draft. In his first year he broke the Eagles' rookie sack record with 9.5 and despite not reaching that number again, he still put up 32 sacks in his first 5 years as an Eagle. A very impressive number for a DT.

As his rookie contract was drawing to a close, the problems started. Corey started holding out of camp in hopes of forcing the Eagles to give him a long term deal. The problem was, he appeared to do little more than eat during the time he would hold out and show up to camp horribly out of shape. His 2004 season on paper looked very good, but if you remember it took him until late in the year to really get into game shape. By the end of the year he was back in pro bowl form, but for a large part of the year he was useless.

Key Colts to Miss game: Vinatieri and Stokley out

Place-kicker Adam Vinatieri and Pro Bowl safety Bob Sanders are two of six players the Indianapolis Colts downgraded from questionable to out today for Sunday's AFC South showdown with Jacksonville in the RCA Dome.

The temporary loss of Vinatieri will result in the Colts signing veteran Martin Gramatica. The team had him in for a workout on Wednesday.

Stokley will also be out this week.
