Week 4 Fantasy Injury Report

The Counselor is IN:

Here are the Week 4 fantasy injuries and my commentary.

Cardinals:
TE Jerame Tuman is questionable with a hamstring injury. He has not practiced on Wednesday. He is the third string guy so he has not fantasy value.

WR Steve Breaston has a hamstring injury and is probable. He is the third receiver for the Cardinals. He has limited value unless Boldin or Fitzgerald gets injured. His value of a return man may be in jeopardy.

Falcons:
RB Michael Turner is probable with a foot injury. He fully practiced on Thursday. He is an every week starter. Start him unless something changes.

WR Laurent Robinson has a sprained knee and is out for week 4. He has limited to no fantasy value.

Ravens:
QB Troy Smith is out with tonsil issues. He has lost a bunch of weight since he started battling these issues. He has lost the starting job which he was about to win in training camp. He isquestionable and the tonsils continue to haunt him. He has gained some of the weight back. It may be too late for him to get a chance to start at QB.

RB Willis McGahee has a cut on his eye lid and is listed as probable. What?!? A cut on the eye lid. McGahee is now sharing carries so that will affect him more than a cut on the eye lid.

Bills:
TE Derek Fine has a thumb injury and is out. He is coming back from thumb surgery. He should not be on your fantasy team.

WR Roscoe Parrish is out after having surgery on his thumb . He is out 4 to 6 weeks.

Panthers:
WR Ryne Robinson has a knee injury and is questionable. He is down deep on the depth chart. He practiced on Thursday and should play this weekend. He should not be starting for your team even for off weeks.

RB Jonathan Stewart is probable with a foot injury. He will play this weekend and is a good game against the Falcons.

Bears:
WR Devin Hester has a rib injury with torn cartilage and is questionable. He was limited in practice on Thursday. Check on him before starting him this weekend. There are a lot of expectations about Hester having a break out year as a receiver. He is still developing.

WR Brandon Lloyd is questionable with a sore hip. He missed practice on Thursday.

Bengals:
RB Kenny Watson is probable with an hamstring injury. He was limited in practice on Thursday.

TE Ben Utecht has a sternum injury and is probable. He has been limited in practice this week.

Browns:
WR Donte Stallworth has a quad injury and is questionable for Sunday. He limited in practice on Thursday. He will be a game time decision.

WR Joe Jurevicius is out until October with a knee injury.

WR Braylon Edwards has a shoulder injury and is probable. He is expected to play this weekend.

Cowboys:
WR Sam Hurd is probable with a high ankle sprain. He fully practiced on Thursday. It looks like he should be back this weekend.

RB Felix Jones has a calf strain and is probable. He is expected to play Sunday and bring his big play ability with him.

Broncos:
RB Ryan Torain is out with a dislocated elbow. He will be out for a while.

WR Darrell Jackson has a calf injury and is listed as questionable for this weekend.

Lions:
Off Week 4

Packers:
RB Kregg Lumpkin has a hamstring injury and is questionable. He did not practice on Thursday. This rookie is third on the depth chart. He brings limited value.

WR James Jones is probable with a knee injury. He was limited in practice on Thursday.

Texans:
WR Kevin Walter is probable with a toe injury. He was limited in practice on Thursday.

RB Ahman Green has an ankle injury and is questionable. He was limited in practice on Thursday. He has lost his starting job to Slaton so his value is very limited.

Colts:
Off Week 4

Jaguars:
WR Troy Williamson is questionable with a thigh injury. He was limited in practice on Thursday.

RB Fred Taylor has a hand injury and is probable for this weekend. He practiced fully on a limited basis on Thursday. He should play this weekend.

RB Maurice Jones-Drew is probable with an ankle injury. He did not practice on Thursday. I believe he will play this weekend but he might be limited with the ankle injury.

Chiefs:
No significant fantasy injuries.

Dolphins:
Off Week 4

Vikings:
RB Chester Taylor is probable with a foot injury.
In And Out Of Denver

Making the Cut
While I was on vacation, there weren't too many suprising moves made by the Broncos except the release of cornerback Domonique Foxworth and the release of receiver Clifford Russell. The team also sent third string QB Darrell Hackney packing despite a solid preseason game against Arizona.

MANUFACTURED JOY: DENVER BRONCOS

by Zac, Throwing Into Traffic

1. The Ultimate Leader's ultimate plan comes to ultimate fruition!

Jake Plummer got screwed. That's just a fact. So if you're Mike Shanahan, and you took a winning quarterback in a playoff competing year and benched him for an unproven (though wildly talented) rookie who proceeded to lose you out of the postseason, your eggs are all immovably placed in the Jay Cutler basket. The bad news is that no sweets are allowed in that basket (Get it? Because he's got diabetes?). The good news is that of all the QB's taken in that hyped 2006 draft class, Cutler's progress has been the steadiest and most productive. In just his Tsecond year, Cutler put up an above average QB rating of 88.1, along with 7.5 YPA and 20 TDs to 14 INTs. Even more interesting is that Cutler's failings seem to be largely related to his youth, as his performance on the road is significantly worse than at home, something that figures to improve with experience playing in front of hostile crowds. With Brandon Marshall maturing nicely (as a player, anyway), and the run game promising to remain consistent, Cutler could be the centerpiece of a steady offene with one of the best deep arms in league.

2. Insert running back here!

KSK put it best, but I can't get over seeing Selvin Young on people's fantasy draft boards. Seriously, this guy is living proof that whatever else we think about him, Shanny is a glorious orange bastard when it comes to creating run blocking schemes. This year, the team not only returns last year's surprise in Young, but also consistent speed threat Andre Hall and rookie draft pick Ryan Torain. All of this suggest that the ninth best rushing team in the league (I know, it surprised me too), figures to be just as potent this year, meaning that this offense could be scarily versatile.

3. Tony Scheffler FEVER!

Tony Scheffler is the annoying faux-indie band of fantasy football; everyone can tell you things about him, but nobody is really that into him, they just want to look cool. Still, the numbers from week seven on are kind of legit. Five games of five receptions or more, an average of 11.2 YPC, 5 TD, and the size to work in the red zone. Repeat after me: "Yeah, dude, I totally liked him before he was cool."

4. Exciting back and forth action!

Well, on the bright side, this offense looks to be very difficult to pin down. Trouble is that they also might have trouble getting time on the field. That's because teams have been able to consistently use the ground game to gouge the Broncos. While the team boasts two top tier corners and speedy linebackers, the center of the defense has been entirely unable to slow down opposing backs. Two things could turn that around this year. First, DJ Williams, a speedy linebacker with the size to bring backs down, returns to the middle of the field, where his range as a player is best suited. Second, and admittedly less certain, DE Jarvis Moss needs to become a more consistent disruption to opposing backfields. While he has the size and speed to do so, he frequently was manhandled by offensive linemen, contributing to the defense's 30th ranked run stopping unit.

5. By the way, JAY CUTLER HAS A F**KING ARM CANNON!

Get wireless AMBER Alerts on your phone.

Broncos Really Going Predominantly Orange

- It's no secret that I like what Eddie Royal brings to the Broncos. Even Adam Jones was impressed by him.
- Speaking of Pacman, can anyone tell me how Broncos punter Sam Paulescu tackled him on the return?
- Should the Broncos put rookie back Ryan Torain on injured reserve? Torain thinks they shouldn't.

Cowboys Play Second Preseason Game At Denver Tonight

After last week's loss in San Diego, the Cowboys broke camp and headed east to practice with the Broncos at their practice facility in Denver for the rest of the week. Bad weather and injuries plagued both teams as Kevin Burnett, LB for the Cowboys, had to return to Dallas for a scope on his left knee and will miss about 2-3 weeks. Denver lost two promising rookies to injury during the practices also, RB's Ryan Torain and Anthony Alridge.
Coach Phillips expects to see some different looks on the Cowboys' coverage teams to try and improve from last week's disasterous results, but with Burnett out, it could be another tough week for those guys. He'd also be happy with less penalties and turnovers than the team had against the Chargers, with several of each leading to points for San Diego..
There should be some fireworks though due to last year's preseason match-up when S John Lynch, now with the Patriots, accused the Cowboys of "blitzing too much" and generally playing too hard in the Cowboys' 31-20 victory over the Broncs at Texas Stadium. There could still be some bad blood between the two teams as a result.
Since it will be a "messy" game with predictions of rain and wind in the open-air conditions at the new Invesco Field, there may not be much to watch for except the play of special teams and maybe one series by the offensive and defensive starters. In other words, be prepared for a big dose of Brad Johnson, who was given more reps with the first team offense this week.
The game is scheduled on CBS at 9:00 p.m. EST. GO COWBOYS!!!!!
