The Mets and Mike Lamb have agreed to a minor league deal. Lamb gives the Mets depth in their minor league system, and could be called up if someone goes down. He is a career .277 hitter in 936 career games.

The Mets have signed Mike Lamb to a minor league deal, while in Houston Lamb was affectionately know as Lambo for his unusual batting stance/swing and his solid power numbers. According to the Tribune the Cubs are interested in signing Mike Lamb to a minor league deal. Lamb was pretty good with the Astros in 2004, 2006 and 2007, but was horrific with the Twins last year. He can play 1st and 3rd. The Cubs may look at signing veteran infielder Mike Lamb to a minor-league deal as security in case of an Aramis Ramirez injury. Milwaukee just released him. Brew Crew clears spot for McGehee

Last season in late September the Brewers picked up Mike Lamb, to be used as a pinch hitter and reserve player. Lamb went 3 for 11 during the stretch run, but was not put on the post season roster. On tuesday the Brewers decided to essenially release Lamb, by not putting him on the opening day roster. He has the option to play for AAA Nashville, but will likely hold out for another major league gig.With this release the Brewers have likely opened up a roster spot for 26 year old Casey McGehee, who was formerly a member of the Cubs minor league system. McGehee has suprised most Brewers fans by posting a .364 batting average including six homeruns and 15 RBI's in 55 spring training at bats. I would, however, be cautious about his plate discipline as he has not been walked once this spring, where as every other Brewer with at lease thirty at bats has drawn a walk. However, he has not struck out a lot either, only four K's in 55 at bats, which is a good sign in a young player. Mike Lamb was placed on waivers by the Twins to make room for everyday Eddie Guardado. Lamb signed a two year deal during the off season and has struggled in his return to the American league in which he's only hitting .233. Lamb was much more successful in the National league with the Stros where he hit around .280 over four years.
