Mike Jenkins returns to scene of the crime

Mike Jenkins returns to the Meadowlands Sunday.

You remember what happened the last time he played there. The non-tackle he made on Derrick Ward became the signature play of his rookie season.

"That goes through my head all the time,'' Jenkins said. "I think about the good, I think about the bad.

"The tackle stands out. But I also think about the pick six.''

True. So many focus on the tackle Jenkins didn't make, but he did return an interception 23 yards...

Slowing it Down 8

It's that time friends, for another edition of Slowing it Down. This week we are back to analyzing an offensive play.

This week we look at a play in which the Bucs are lined up in Shotgun. They have 3 WR, with the strength to the wide side of the field (K2 and two WR). It looks like Stovall, though I can't see the white numbers is line up at the bottom of the screen. DWard in the backfield.
The video is inside, because even on "Wide" it is intruding on the webs...

Week 10 Player Profile: QB Josh Freeman

Coming off a season-saving victory, who else should we choose to profile except our young gunslinger, QB Josh Freeman? After months and months of overanalyzing his selection in the first round and listening to the talking heads in the media and the Bucaneer fans debate the merits of the pick, Josh Freeman came out and silenced the critics for at least one week, throwing for 205 yds and 3 TDs. Most impressively, with the game and possibly the season on the line, Josh showed t...

Derrick Ward may not travel to Washington (This story is a day old. I could not find an update) as he is dealing with a sore knee. Currently all of the Bucs RB's are making the injury list as either questionable or probable: Ward (Knee) Q, Williams (Knee) P, Graham (Hamstring) P and Smith (Quad) P.

$17M? Not Bad for Pick #235 Overall...

It's not every season a 7th round draft pick makes it in the NFL. Many don't make it a season, let alone multiple. Sticking on a roster is many times an admirable achievement. Signing a four-year $17M deal? More often than not, that's a pipe dream. Throw in a dash of collegiate academic problems, off-the-chart stats from an unknown school and getting dropped from the practice squad not long after you've been signed your rookie year...and the probability of inking big money, mu...

Getting to know DWard!

Hey Yard Barker this is Derrick Ward (a.k.a. Wind). I am writing this blog to give my fans a little insight into my day-to-day life. They call me Wind because of my ability to do everything: pass protect, be shifty, catch the ball, and run hard between the tackles. However, you may not know that the main reason I am called, "Wind" is because of my laid back, easygoing California personality.

When I am not at football I just try to get a lot of sleep. Last night I watched Street Kings and I loved the plot of a corrupt California cop. I am all about drama, action and suspense movies and my favorite movie right now would have to be the new Batman. Sometimes after Monday's practice I will head down to Atlantic City with a couple of friends just to get away for the night. I enjoy going out and trying new restaurants as often as possible. For those of you who were wondering I am not a gamer, in fact I am an old soul who enjoys reading the newspaper every morning while drinking a cup of coffee.

I wanted to let my fans know about my new website www.DWard34.com and the T-shirt design that I came up with. I think the shirt is unique in the fact that it accentuates a picture of me after scoring a touchdown and the overall design is a true depiction of my personality. When I was a boy I never thought I would be able to have my own image on shirt, it's humbling and I am grateful for the opportunity that I have been given.

This week we are heading into Arizona with a 9-1 record, which is a true testament to our overall team cohesiveness. Offensively our team goals are to rush and pass for 200+ yards each. That is going to be a battle this week because the Cardinals are only giving up 87 yards a game on the ground. My role will be the same this week as it has previously been. Brandon Jacobs had a full work out today and will be ready for Sunday's game.

Until next time!
