The Extreme Delusions Of Peter Warrick

So Peter Warrick–remember him? After tearing up the ACC and college football in general while at Florida St, Warrick got drafted by Cincinnati number four overall in 2000. He had a nice year in ‘03 but got injured and missed most of ’04, and after one season with Seattle he was shipped to the red headed stepchild [...]

Warrick Hoping for Another Shot at NFL

by Ryan WilsonFiled under: NFL FansWhen talking about front-office futility, Matt Millen sets the pace. Mercifully for Lions fans, he's been relieved of his duties as the team's president and general manager, but his legacy lives on. His infatuation with using high-round draft picks on wide receivers might have been his biggest weakness, although that's certainly up for debate. Charles Rogers and Mike Williams are on the list of first-round wide receiver busts, but a name that&#39...

Peter Warrick Wants To Play In The NFL Again

Where’s Peter Warrick?
Well, the former Cincinnati Bengals and Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Peter Warrick is toiling in relative obscurity for the Indoor Football League’s Bloomington Extreme in Illinois. The IFL is an eight-man football league.
“When I stop loving it, I’ll stop playing,” Warrick told David Haugh of the Chicago Tribune.
After catching 275 career passes for 2,991 yards [...]

College Football Picks - Week 4

Week 4 marks the start of conference play in many of the BCS conferences, and this week I will be focusing on the SEC.

The Vols are rebuilding this year after last year's trip to the SEC Championship thanks to a tiebreaker.

Florida (-7) over TENNESSEE - If these teams played 10 times, the Gators would win 9 of them by double digits. The Vols managed to make UCLA look good, and last week we found out just how good the Bruins are.

MISSISSIPPI (-7.5) over Vandy - Sleeper team in the West.

Lsu (-2) over AUBURN - Auburn scored 3 points with their handy-dandy new spread offense last week. They'll need a lot more than that this week.

Alabama (-9) over ARKANSAS - Petrino's squad has struggled against minnows, while Alabama looked pretty sharp against Clemson.

Quick quiz: Which was true more recently? Peter Warrick played in the NFL or Bobby Bowden was a good coach.

Wake Forest (+4) over FLORIDA STATE - Wake's played good opposition and has done well. FSU has played no one, and I have no reason to believe this will be any different than the 30-0 shelling of a couple years ago. Bowden should retire already.

Last Week: 3-2-1
Season: 9-5-1

All American Lawsuit

A couple of years ago, it seemed like NFL Europe and Arena Football were going to have some stiff competition on its hands with the introduction of another Football Minor League. The AAFL was getting some good coverage leading up to its inaugural draft. I even shook hands with players like Chris Leak and Peter Warrick at Team Florida's draft party. And then everything went down the drain

AAFL Team Florida Draft Afterparty

Remember when I said during the day yesterday that I would save indulging in the finer fruits of life until nighttime? Yeah?well an open bar with unlimited Black Label and a white chocolate fountain made things a little interesting. Anyway, the night started out well. I picked up my date from her apartment and we were on our way to the AAFL Draft Afterparty. My email invite said that the festivities would start at 7pm, and I am sure that the party I was invited to actually did begin at 7; however, we arrived at 6:15PM and somehow made our way into a formal dinner event that was reserved only for CEOs and executives of major corporations looking to invest in the AAFL Florida team. After a healthy dose of filet mignon, tilapia, and Black Label, I was set.

At the end of dinner, they had a drawing for season tickets at our table and my date won, ensuring me a seat for every Team Florida game this year. I will still attempt to gain press passes. After dinner, the party began. Players started to get loose, sign autographs, and even more food and boos were introduced to the new population who had recently arrived. Roast beef carvers, chocolate fountains, and beginning my drinking at 6:30PM made this night a complete success. Not to mention, I met my favorite college football player of all time, Peter Warrick. See below for photos:

AAFL Team Florida Draft Day

Team Florida put together quite a showing at the inaugural AAFL Draft. All of its 39 Protected Players, who had spots on the team before today's draft were present shaking hands, taking pictures, and signing autographs. Cute girls were passing out mini AAFL footballs and a few lucky people got snazzy New Balance AAFL t-shirts (I was not fortunate enough to snag one, although one of the girls said she would look out for me tonight to personally give me one). About tonight…I will be attending a formal dinner with Team Florida's Protected Players to celebrate what should be a successful season with athletes like Chris Leak, Chris Doering, and Peter Warrick on the roster.

As I said earlier today, the AAFL has been quite nice to media entities. Upon entering the hotel, I easily obtained media credentials, which entitled me to a nice folder that included the Official AAFL 2008 Draft Chart (who the hell would sit and fill this out?), Team Florida's schedule, and a bunch of press releases from the Director of Communications at the AAFL. One concern I have is that Texas is listed as not having a stadium to play at…may want to get on figuring out that problem! Plenty of people at Team Florida's draft were congregating around the Tickets table, leading me to believe that at least in the state of Florida this league has a shot at survival.

Overall, it was a fun experience. I stuck to talking with the players that I actually had heard of before, dominated the buffet of sandwiches, and might have scored myself a press pass for the 2008 season. I decided to avoid the open bar…I'll save indulging in the finer fruits of life for tonight.

See below for some pictures from the day event:

Is Reggie Bush the second coming of Peter Warrick?

Coming into the NFL,Reggie Bush was one of the most hyped rookies in recent history. Bush came into the league from Southern California along with a heisman trophy so he was a marketing dream for most companies. Most rookies coming in don't have endorsements with Subway or challenge the diet pepsi machine at the combine. But looking at Bush's career so far it is very similar to another player who had come out in the last decade. That player is Peter Warrick.

If you remember Peter ...
