Vikings defensive tackle Pat Williams and cornerback Benny Sapp were fined $5,000 apiece for separate unnecessary roughness penalties in Sunday's loss in Pittsburgh.

Early in the third quarter, Williams had a 15-yard face mask penalty on Steelers rookie Mike Wallace, after the receiver's six-yard catch.

The league said Williams "unnecessarily grabbed opponent by facemask."

Sapp was fined $5,000 for unnecessary roughness (unnecessarily struck opponent late).

But, Williams isn't thrilled with all the attention on Favre this week, even if he's returning to Lambeau Field.

"Everybody has an opinion. But it ain't just Brett going down there," Williams said. "He's got 52 other guys going there with him. So it's our team. It ain't Brett's team.

What an exciting weekend of football ahead of fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Minnesota Vikings. Two of the NFL's most historic and storied franchises squaring off in an October showdown of teams with Super Bowl aspirations. I'm going to leave much of my analysis of the game for a bit later in the week, but I wanted to begin by laying out what some of the key matchups will be on both sides of the ball. From there, you all (and hopefully Vikings fans as well) jump in and le...

But, Williams said the Vikings defense would not need to allocate additional personnel to stop him.

Court: NFL can't suspend Vikings' All-Pro DTs

A federal appeals court says the NFL can't suspend Minnesota Vikings Pat Williams and Kevin Williams for violating the league's anti-doping policy.

The decision came Friday, two days before the Viking open the season at Cleveland. The NFL had cleared the two to play Sunday, but the court fight was still pending.

The NFL wanted to suspend the Williamses for four games after they both tested positive for a banned diuretic during training camp in 2008.
