Josina Anderson, of MyFoxColorado, is reporting that RB Deuce McAllister and DE Will Smith turned in positive drug tests as a result of taking water pills to lose weight.

Will Smith, Boom Goes the Dynamite, Oscars, Video. Will Smith proves, yet again, that he is still the Fresh Prince. Will is cool under pressure. He fumbles a line and follows it up with the ?Boom Goes The Dynamite? line. Classic! I wonder how many celebs knew what he was

Boom Goes the Dynamite Takes the National Stage

I'm sure most of you have seen the video of Brian Collins stumbling
over the sports news. If you haven't seen it, here's where the magic
started. The peak of this video's sweetness comes about 2:25 in. [Vid] After creating an Internet storm, the fumbling announcer and his "boom
goes the dynamite" catchphrase got a reference from Will Smith last
night on the Oscars, when Smith fumbled over a line of his own. [Smith Vid] Now to us, that's hilarious, but you ha...

"Boom Goes The Dynamite" Makes It All The Way To The Oscars

What an amazing trip it's been for Brian Collins, and the one simple phrase that gave us one of the funniest Sports related clips we've ever seen. The phrase has been lampooned on multiple tv shows, including Family Guy, but it has now seen its greatest moment. Yes, "BGTD" was uttered on stage by none other than Will Smith! Here's the clip.... Hilarious. I wonder what percentage, of those in attendance, actually got the joke? My bet is on 4.5%. It's also hilarious ...

Late 80s/Early 90s Sports Apparel Fashion Confessions

After retrieving (or should I say rescuing) my Andre Rison Falcons jersey from the archives a few weeks back (and having others share their gems), that nostalgic late 80s/early 90s vibe hath returned. Sports jerseys were fashion statements back then. This is true. It wasn't just me. And, yes, they were cool -- then. Believe it. Sure, some of our sports fashion apparel and accessories may seem the domain of complete tools now but how sick were all of us back in the day?

C'mon, you were there. Back in middle school or junior high. Chances are you played sports and hung with the "popular crowd." You dug the girls of 90210 and couldn't get enough of Damon Wayans as Homey the Clown. Will Smith was reigning as the Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Bo Jackson and MJ were on your walls and you couldn't get enough Headbanger's Ball. OK, you maybe not all of those things applied to you. But, if a lot of them did, I wouldn't be surprised if sports was your whole life and it crept into your wardrobe in ways that are nearly unspeakable now.

Here are a handful of the "sports fashion" trends I remember from the late 80s and 90s around when I was old enough to be out of grade school but not old enough to drive a car. Not like I participated in any of these absurb marriages of sports and clothing or anything...

Sports Jerseys: Tirico Suave raised my Andre Rison Falcons a Brownies Testaverde.
Neither of those quite rivals a Ravens Vinny T (see Jan. 6 entry) on the random scale, but the point is the same regardless. As a teen, I thought the replica jersey - whether NHL, NFL, MLB or even NBA - was the tits. Nothing topped those threads in my closet. Bledsoe Pats, Colorado Buffs (nameless), Griffey Jr. Mariners, Saints white (my name...the worst), Jets (O'Brien), Rangers (Graves), Sharks (nameless), Magic (O'Neal), I need to stop, it's too painful to recall.

Awful Hats: We've been down this path before. It's a brutal, unsightly history that we'd rather not rehash. If you must read about it, take a walk with us down headwear memory (nightmare) lane. Warning: it's sure to bring back ghosts of your own early 90s horror stories. But back in the day, these lids were siiiick. At least that's what I keep telling myself...

"Starter Jackets": Mike from Steady Burn broke this down beautifully about a month back. If you are even pretending you don't remember, read up on this trend that I rocked in the form of a UNLV Runnin' Rebs model and (gasp!) a Dallas Cowboys crinkler.

Umbros: You know a garment is good when you the brand becomes a genre. These weren't shorts. They were Umbros. I don't know about y'all, but I had more than my fair share. The best (worst) were undoubtedly my two-tone models featuring one side of the short in one color and the other a completely contrasting hue. The split was right down the middle around the crotchal region. If I remember correctly, one side was royal blue and the other a fluorescent lime green. We also think we may have had one of these find three-toned, panel versions as well. Disastrous in retrospect...

Sweats w/ Team Name Down Pant Leg: These were terrible. Now, it feels like they're cool again in that retro-awful kinda way. I'd love to get my hands on a few of these again. The dark-colored sweats with the drawstring and the team name silk-screened in big-ass letters down the length of the pant leg. Loud, ugly and so cool I was pissed I didn't have a pair. I'm sure you recall.

Zubaz: I didn't own a pair of Zubaz. I swear. Cross my heart. But people did, and not just people that look like this dude. Normal, sane people. They thought these things were fashionable. While I'd love to incessantly mock, I do recall rocking pants called Skidz. They were just like Zubaz, perhaps even more offensive. They had obnoxious patterns, and I recall wearing them with brightly-colored Regardless, the company sold enough of these that it's a trend which cannot be dismissed. Head to the Meadowlands on any given Sunday and the evidence is there in shocking abundance.

Caricature Ts: As sucky as Zubaz were is as AWESOME as athlete caricature Ts were back in the day. Did I wear them into my teen years? So what if I did? These were real-life collector's items. Art in its finest form. T-shirts with a ridiculously proportioned head of some superstar along with each of their facial features magnified by 1000%. The Sports Hernia has a terrific series on these tremendous pieces of apparel. I rocked 'Nique with pride. I just had a harrowing thought. I wonder if they ever made a Sam Cassell caricature T. /shuddering at the notion

So, what else you got? Those of you born in the late 70s should be right there with me on this one. I mean, right...

Portland

YB!!! What's good everyone? I hope you guys all had great weekends! My weekend was a busy on as I was in Park City Utah doing an event for STX. There was a HUGE youth tournament, so I hung out at the STX tent, met some kids, signed some posters, gave some stuff away, and got to relax a bit. Strangely enough, I had never been to Park City before and I liked it a lot! Definitely a nice area.

Last night, Maxx Davis (UMBC), Evan Kay, Joe Walters and I flew into Portland to get ready for our second RG camp starting today around 1pm or so. Last week in Vegas went well, and was definitely a good start to the camp season. My only complaint would be the heat, and clearly we've got no control of that. It will be a little cooler in Portland this week, so that will be a nice change. We'll be able to get after it a bit more and not have to take water breaks every 5 minutes!

I think this bye weekend was definitely good for me and my team as it gave us time to step away for a second, and come back this weekend ready to go. I haven't shot the ball as well as I would like to, but I am getting to the spots on the field I want to. Shots just haven't been falling, but they will, just have to stay with it. Got 8 games left to get after it and play as hard as we possible can and put this whole thing together. We're excited, and we definitely haven't played anywhere near our best lacrosse yet, we're still a work in progress, which isn't a bad thing. I can't to see my teammates on Friday and go back to work on Saturday night.

I finally got to watch a finals game last night! Saw the whole thing! I know, not that exciting for you all because you've seen them all, but with it being my first one of the series, I was pretty fired up.

Still haven't picked my favorite Weezy track yet. I'll keep you updated there. Any thoughts on N.E.R.D's new joint? Not sure how I feel quite yet.

I read a pretty good article on Andy Roddick in Outside magazine, it's definitely worth checking out. I've definitely followed his career and been a fan for years, so it was good getting some insight into his career and life the past few years.

Got another random Q. What's going to be the best movie of the summer? I've got a few in mind. I've definitely been waiting to see WANTED with Angelina Jolie for awhile. I want to see Will Smith's new joint as well. I still think Forgetting Sarah Marshal was one of he funniest movies I've ever seen.

That's all I've got for now, I need to go for a run, then wake all these cats up and get ready for camp.

I'll catch up with you all in a few days.

Zeke vs. Fresh Prince

There's only one reason I can forgive Will Smith for palling around with Dan Snyder's boytoy...

He made Isiah look ridiculous long before Zeke started doing so on his own volition.

I Am Legend...

Yup, I saw it! Finally, after all the build up, last weekend I got to go check out Will Smith's I Am Legend, and I've got some thoughts.

For starters, I'm a HUGE Will Smith fan, I think the guy is crazy talented, so I'll check out anything he's in. I even saw Wild Wild West a few times. With that being said, I had a few issues with this particular movie.

One, I feel like they assumed EVERYONE going to see this movie had read the book before attending. Unfortunately with me, that wasn't the case. I went into the movie completely blind, knowing absolutely nothing at all about the story line of the movie, other then the fact that this cat was in NYC all by himself (we all saw that in the previews). I didn't know why, or how he ended up that way either. They took little time really showing what happened. He had flash backs through out the movie (very short, only a minute or two long at most each time), and they had little clues through out the movie which were supposed to give a heads up (magazine on the fridge cover with his face on it). I wanted a lot more background on his life, his family, his profession, all that good stuff. I needed the whole thign to be developed a whole lot more for a number of reasons. The only thing we see really developed was his relationship with his dog, and his awkward relationship with all of the manikin's around the city. I guess we're your alone somewhere though, you make friends where you can, even if they don't talk to you or move..or do anything for that matter.

Wtih all that being said, the action in the movie was off the chains! Will definitely did his thing.

I definitely will see it again when it comes out on DVD, and I with out a doubt enjoyed myself at the theatre, I just expected so much more. I expected more of a story line, more of a plot. I love movies that force you to care about what's going on, and this one didn't do it for me. For what it's worth though, I thought Will Smith did his thing as usual. He had commical moments, emotional moments, serious moments...cats one of the best in the game.

On a different note, the kids from Lacrosse For LIFE sent me a nice package yesterday! They hooked me up with some Christmas Cd's, and some had made cards! I as diggin the cards, I got them displayed on the counter at my parents house. I can't wait to get out west and get to spend time with them a bit more consistently.

I've got one of my Run N' Gun Lacrosse camps in Michigan this weekend, then off to Atlanta to meet my family at my sister Kia's house for Christmas! It should be a great weekend!

I hope you guy's have had an awesome week, and I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Remember, any lacrosse related questions, just feel free to post them up, and I'll be sure to reply!

Have a great rest of the week.

Karate Kid Redux

At risk of treading into Bill Simmons territory, if you didn't think Hollywood has officially run out of ideas, now it is a certainty...there is going to be a Karate Kid remake. The horror of this is not that it is just being redone, it is being directed by Will Smith and is going to star Smith's 9 year old son Jaden (who debuted in 2006's Pursuit of Happiness) as Daniel and Jackie Chan as Mr. Miyagi. Oh please Jebus save us all.

Greg Oden Enjoys Bad Sitcoms

According to ESPN, Greg Oden is a huge Will Smith fan, loves CBS's Two and a Half Men, and dreamed of becoming a dentist when he was younger. Geez, if not for the photographic evidence showing that Oden enjoys dancing with hot chicks in extremely short skirts, I'd say he and I have pretty much nothing in common...
