Clayton Kershaw Gets A Second Chance At The Bigs

Yeah, it was probably just a lucky guess, but Kershaw is getting called up as I predicted earlier.

"Clayton Kershaw will be promoted to start Tuesday night's game against the Rockies, part of what could be a busy 10 days of Dodgers roster moves leading up to the Trade Deadline.

This time, said Torre, he expects Kershaw to stay in the starting rotation, perhaps for a decade or so if expert predications are accurate. When at full strength, the current rotation also would include Hiroki Kuroda, Chad Billingsley, Derek Lowe and Brad Penny, who might be ready to come off the disabled list in early August."

Nobody knows for sure who is going to be sent down to make room for Kershaw, but there are rumors that...

Down On The Farm: The Return Of The Kershaw?

Clayton Kershaw|LHP|AA|20-Kershaw has been quite dominant since getting demoted to AA Jacksonville. In 3 starts there, he's gone 18 innings, and has only given up 7 hits and 2 earned runs. More importantly though, Kershaw has only walked 4 batters. I guess there's some concern over the fact that he's only struck out 12 over those 18 innings, but he's still trying to work some issues out, so it's not overly concerning to me.

Kershaw is either already on his way back to Los Angeles later this week or he should be on his way back if he has another quality start at AA.

Even God Hates The Dodgers

I'm absolutely convinced that God hates the Dodgers.

Smoothly sailing through the first 4 innings, Clayton Kershaw was having another quality start in what looked to be a classic pitcher's duel. Too bad the rain had other ideas. Tied at 0-0 when God started peeing, it took Chan Ho Park less than two innings to give up 5 runs, basically sealing the Dodgers fate. Yeah, they made a late run at it, but it was another case of too little too...

It's Two Months Into The Season, So Let's Play A Little Over/Under

It's the dawn of a new section here at Fire Ned Colletti Now, and I hope i'll actually remember to do this every once in a while in the future. Anyway, I figure it'll be fun to document some of my "educated" predictions and see how they work out in the end.

20 Home Runs For Matt Kemp

Everybody and their mother predicted Kemp's power would emerge this season, and the general feeling was that he'd easily hit between 20-30 home runs. He's currently on pace for 12, but with his frame he always seems like a threat to go on a homer binge like he did in 2005 when he hit 7 homers in his first 100 major league at bats. The problem, however, is that Kemp hits a lot of a ground balls (44.5% this year, 45.4% last year). And even though his line drive percentage (26.7%) bodes very well for his batting average, it also means that he doesn't hit many fly balls (28.8%). When also considering that 23.8% of his at bats end in strikeouts, and only 8.8% of his fly balls end up over the fence, Matt simply doesn't give himself enough of an opportunity to hit home runs. All in all, it would be a stretch to assume Kemp can reach the 20 home run plateau unless something drastic happens with his percentages.

Prediction-Under

Plus other stuff similar.

10 Starts This Year For Clayton Kershaw

.800 OPS For Jeff Kent

.300 Average For Russell Martin

15 Wins For Anybody On The Dodgers Pitching Staff

Fantasy Rundown: Pedro Returns to the Mound

Pedro Martinez made his return to the Mets a victorious one. He should provide a huge boost to New York, and he can still help your fantasy team. Some other guy named Joba also debuted as a starter, a pitcher not named Smoltz got the save for Atlanta, and another prospect (Radhames Liz) flew under the radar and pitched well for Baltimore.

Kershaw gets bombed, Dodgers rally for W

Clayton Kershaw lasted just 3 2/3 innings in his start tonight allowing four earned on five hits, walking four and striking out two against the New York Mets.

Kershaw the Dodgers number one prospect recently changed his uniform number from 54 to 22 as well.

The Dodgers later rallied in the eight scoring 5 to over take the Mets and win the game. Chan Ho Park who entered the game in relief of Kershaw picked up the win.

Clayton Rickshaw

Earlier this week, JP over at pyleoflist.com wet his pants trying to come up with a nickname for Dodger's rookie, Clayton Kershaw. Before we start putting pussy prospects on a pedastal, let's first give them a chance to prove themselves. Kershaw just crapped the bed vs the Mets in NY. Torre pulled him after 3.2 innings as the Dodgers struggle to break their 4 game losing streak. Kershaw gave up 4 earned runs, 5 hits, 4 walks, 1 hr, with a 5.59 ERA in his 2nd start.
