I couldn't give a report last night because I was at Citi for Santana's start...also Billy Wagner's return, and the crowd was pumped. Today I checked out the B-Mets in their game against the first place Connecticut Defenders. I got to talk to some of the players who were full of information which I will share under the recap of the game.The Bisons split their double header with the Chiefs. I'm not really sure how this makes sense, but I guess I can't see the big picture.The Buffalo Bison's have announced that they have released Wily Mo Pena and Javier Valentin.Valentin has been on the disable list since June 15th with a shoulder strain, prior to that he hit .260 while catching, playing 1B, 3B and left field. The Mets have acquired Chicago White Sox's minor league infielder Javier Castillo (source MLBTR). The 25 y/o career minor leaguer was once the 17th ranked prospect in Appalachian League ( rookie league) with the Bristol White Sox's.The Bison's infield is as depleted as the Mets; with Argenis Reyes, Mark Kiger and Andy Green on the DL, while Javier Valentin is limited to DH duty with a sore shoulder and veteran Mike Lamb completely in-effective. Portland Sea Dogs Double Up Binghamton Mets 8-4 - Eastern League

BINGHAMTON - After dominating performances from the mound in Thursday's opener, the B-Mets pitching looked vulnerable in an 8-4 loss to Portland. Seven of the Sea Dogs 10 hits went for extra bases and Portland scored runs in five of the nine innings to cruise to the win. Binghamton (4-3) had a chance to tie the game in the ninth when Lucas Duda came up with the bases loaded and two outs, but Sea Dog righty T.J. Large induced a groundout from Duda to end the game. Right-hander Dylan Owen got the start for the B-Mets and struggled giving up six runs on seven hits in three innings. The second batter to face Owen got the ball rolling for Portland (5-4). Mark Wagner hit the second offering from Owen over the right-centerfield wall to open up the scoring 1-0. The Sea Dogs would plate two runs in the second frame off Blake Maxwell thanks to an RBI double from Jorge Jimenez and a subsequent single by Argenis Diaz to drive Jimenez in, giving Portland a 3-0 lead. In the bottom of the inning, however, the B-Mets showed signs of life as Duda, D.J. Wabick and Mike Nickeas all doubled to score a total of two runs in the inning, cutting the Portland lead to one. However, the Sea Dogs answered swiftly, loading the bases against Owen in the third before getting a one-out bases-clearing double from Ryan Khoury to put the game out of reach 6-2. Carl Loadenthal produced his second straight three-hit game going 3-5 with a double to raise his average over the .400 plateau and Mark Kiger notched his first multi-hit game going 2-3. Portland left-hander Dustin Richardson improved to 2-0 with the win, pitching three innings in relief of Maxwell, surrendering a run and striking out three. Game three of the four-game set is slated for a 1:05 PM start. 2008 B-Met Most Valuable Pitcher RHP Jose Sanchez goes for Binghamton against LHP Felix Doubront.
