Bostick, Feliciano but not Kunz...

On Sept. 1st teams could expand their active rosters to include the entire 40man roster. Since then the Mets have gone two players over 25 men with the return of David Wright and the call-up of Josh Thole. They currently have 44 players on the the roster but five players are on the 60 day DL, leaving them one roster spot. The Mets are still carrying three questionable players; Argenis Reyes, Andy Green and Arturo Lopez. As I said before if these players don't have the value to be called up...

Due to various circumstances, we're a few weeks late delivering number 22 on this list, but with the recent announcement Kunz will be one of three September call-ups we're suddenly timely! You'll see him soon, but don't expect much. The ruff rider has certainly lived up to his nickname this season.

Josh Thole heads the list of minor leaguers to get called up...

Prospect catcher Josh Thole, reliever Eddie Kunz and first baseman/outfielder Nick Evans are expected to highlight the call-ups when rosters expand in September, the Daily News has learned.

Thole, 22, upped his average to .332 with a three-hit game for Double-A Binghamton on Friday, although he had only one homer through 361 at-bats and is generally content choking up on his bat and hitting singles. A 13th-round pick in 2005 from Breese, Ill., who learned to hit in a barn, Thole (right) c...

8/6 Minor League Report! GUZMAN, Rivera!

INT AAA: Buffalo 6/7/2, Columbus 9/12/0
Tobi Stoner and Eddie Kunz had this one for the Bisons, and it was ugly. Stoner gave up 5 in 5.1 innings, Kunz gave up 4 in 2.2 innings, though he got all his outs via groundball. Buffalo made a late charge, but fell short. Nick Evans homered in the [...]

Buried relievers should get a chance...

One of the allegations against Tony Bernazard was that players who got on his bad side could be buried within the organization. Now, this isn't another Bernazard bash post, in fact I'm trying to focus on baseball and the people who are still around that are making the decisions. But there are at least two players who I feel should get a chance with the major league team, that seem to have been buried in the organizations. Eddie Kunz was the 42nd overall pick in the 2007 draft, he was s...

Jon Niese & Eddie Kunz scouted...

Toby Hyde of Mets Minor league blog is reporting that a Mets top scouting official was accompanied by two scouts from other teams during a recent series against the Knights, for details see Toby's post.I think Niese is our most appealing prospect, many small market teams would have him in their rotation already. But Niese is an expendable prospect IMO, he projects at best to be a middle of the rotation pitcher and the Mets have three young pitchers already in the middle of the rotation ( ...

Buffalo 2, Pawtucket 3 in 11 innings
Guess we know why Eddie Kunz hasn’t been closing games lately for the Bisons, wow. Handed a 2-0 lead heading to the bottom of the 11th, Kunz registered one out, allowed 5 hits and a walk, along with 3 runs. Dillon Gee started this game, and was brilliant for [...]

Kunz learned 'patience' in 2008

Adam Rubin's Surfin' the Mets blog has a Q & A with Mets prospect Eddie Kunz.

The Mets reliever, who was promoted from Double-A Binghmaton last July, said his experience in 2008 will take away the "shock" of the pitching in the majors next time the opportunity comes.

Kunz simply not ready....

I think all of those who were screaming for Eddie Kunz to get his shot as a closer have been quieted tonight. Kunz was brought into the perfect situation to show what he has, the Pirates are a weak hitting team and the Mets were up by six runs. Even those die hard Kunz's fans who believed that closers struggled with big leads or that he was rusty do to having six days off couldn't justify tonight's performance. I've been leery of Kunz since he came up because he simply hasn&#3...

That doesn't mean the Mets fans won't see new faces at Shea Stadium soon. At some point in August, before the traditional September roster expansion, you can expect the organization to baptize Fernando Martinez, Jon Niese and Eddie Kunz.
