Commenting on the stupidest trade proposal ever

Honestly, who concocts these miserable trade ideas?

The latest "rumor" out on the web has the Mets trading away Carlos Beltran to the Yankees in return for Robinson Cano, Brian Bruney or Jose Veras, Ian Kennedy, and another prospect or two and some cash.

Let the Trade Rumors Begin

According to Peter Abraham and Rob Neyer, the Yankees and Mets have discussed a blockbuster trade. This trade would send centerfielder Carlos Beltran to the Yankees and move second baseman Robinson Cano, reliever Jose Veras (or Brian Bruney), starting pitcher Ian Kennedy, and another Yankees' prospect to the Mets.

Although this would be a great trade for the Yankees (with the exception of having to find a second baseman), I do not see this one happening, as the Mets would be giving up an all-star centerfielder for some players that can hopefully live up to their potential.

Beltran for Cano...?

Omar Minaya said that he was going to be creative this year in building a team that could make it over the hump and into the playoffs. Could that plan include moving Carlos Beltran, according to Frank Russo the Mets are shopping Beltran and might even be looking to the Yanks for a deal.

It just doesn't make sense to me, the Mets don't have a legitimate replacement and would have to make another move. In-house they could put weak hitting Endy Chavez or lose some range with Ryan Church but one would down grade the offense while the other isn't gold glove caliber in center. The most appealing free agent center fielder would be Rocco Baldelli but he needs a lot of rest due to his illness.

Beltran isn't perfect he can drive you nuts with his percentages of healthiness and his streaky hitting along with not being a vocal leader. But he is clutch and this year I thought took great strides with his leadership and grittiness. I'm not a big untouchables guy but I can't see downgrading such a significant part of the team.......

Frank Russo, on New York Baseball Digest Radio's Yankee Special, mentioned that his connections have shared that the Mets are accepting inquiries for Carlos Beltran. And, further, according to Russo, his sources have also shared that there's a rumor of a possible deal between the Mets and Yankees which would breakdown as follows:

Carlos Beltran from the Mets to the Yankees in exchange for Robinson Cano (with the Yankees taking on most of Cano's contract), either Jose Veras or Brian Bruney, Ian Kennedy, and another prospect from the Yankees system. source Was watching

.

Don't Worry, Yankee Fan, It Will All Be Over Soon

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_EuBu-c7pox0/SLYuSoWbXDI/AAAAAAAADCM/NuVk2Sktuac/s320/what+a+fat+load.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5239426114096159794" />After tonight's thoroughly expected beatdown (Sidney Ponson was starting, after all, and he's now 3-13 against Boston for his career, with a 6.95 ERA), the worst team that money can buy is seven games out of the wild-card with thirty games left to play. Oh, and tomorrow for the sweep, the Sox run their best pitcher this year, Jon Lester, against the suddenly very hittable Mike Mussina.

This is also the last series in Yankee Stadium history against the Red Sox, and the hated invaders have outscored them by 18-6 in the first two games. Tonight was close until the 8th inning, when a 7-run eighth inning was punctuated by a Dustin Pedroia grand slam.

Let the history show that when the Yankees desperately needed outs in the eight inning, with a $200 million payroll, they didn't hand the ball to a John Wetteland, or a Mariano Rivera, or a Mike Stanton, Jeff Nelson, or even a Kyle Farnsworth. Instead, it was Jose Veras (heroic most of the year, out of gas tonight) and David Robertson (in the 21st and worst game of his career), in a game where the once-vaunted Yankee offense had mustered all of two runs in seven innings against Paul Byrd and Manny Delcarmen, who came into the night with a high 4-run ERA against the rest of the world.

Huge changes will be coming for this franchise, and the fan base is going to welcome it in a big way. If nothing else, the building deserved better than the utter walkover that the current tenants have provided.

Oh, and on the off chance that you have any moment of pity for the Steinbrenner Nazis, read what happens if you need to move during "God Bless America." George?
Yankees nab Pudge

The New York Yankees have acquired Pudge Rodriguez from the Detroit Tigers this afternoon for Kyle Farnsworth. Straight Up.

I couldn't believe it either. This is an excellent deal for the Yanks. They needed an upgrade over Jose "Name that" Molina with Jorge Posada down for the season.

Pudge is going to hit arond .290 this season, get on base, and most importantly call a great game behind the plate. Pudge is a veteran presence and will handle the young pitchers on New York's staff well. Joba Chamberlain, Edwar Ramirez, Jose Veras, David Robertson and more will all benefit from this deal.

Hopefully this brings consistency to the team and the offense because the Yankees are still looking up at the ass-end of the Rays and Red Sox.

Milton Bradley’s Career, Possibly Life, Summed Up In Two Swings

Before Michael Kay awakened me to the fascinatingly disturbing story of how Milton Bradley came to be, well, Milton Bradley, I always just thought he was misunderstood.
Kay's words flowed over Bradley's at bat against the Yankees' Jose Veras in the eighth-inning of last night's game.
If you don't want to watch the video below, here is [...]

Molina Lineage Threatened

Yankees relief pitcher Jose Veras got crossed up with Jose Molina last night against Texas. Molina was looking for a breaking ball and Veras threw a heat-seeking fastball.
The result?
Roasted Nuts.
Yup, he took it right in the catcher-creator.

Captain Clutch

The captain blasted his 199th home run last night to give the Yankees the lead over the pesky Astros. Veras threw two strong innings and I think he overtook Farnsworth role as the 8th inning man. Since Mariano pitched five of the pervious six days the Yankees had to bring the Farns and he got his first save since 2006. Now the Yankees are 2 games over .500 and are sitting in third place.
