Your NFL Power Rankings: Week 11

NFL action in week 11 was filled with nail biters across the board and a couple of blowouts here and there in between. The Thanksgiving edition of the Power Rankings has many teams thankful for being in the playoff race at this point in the season especially the Jacksonville Jaguars, who in my opinion are the worst team out of the 6-4 bunch in the league…here are the rankings.

1. New Orleans Saints (10-0) – The ultimate test comes to town in the form of the Patriots this Sunday nigh...

Tennessee Titans Reach the Playoffs, Now That Would Be A Story

The 2009 NFL season started with hopes of a championship in Tennessee. They had just come off an incredible season where they went 13-3. In the second round of the playoffs, they lost to the Baltimore Ravens 13-10.
They resigned Kerry Collins and were pegged by many experts to be one of the main Super Bowl [...]

Pre-Game Recon: Five Questions With Music City Miracles

In a continuation of our pre-game cooperation with Music City Miracles, Jimmy was gracious enough to answer five questions I had regarding his Tennessee Titans. Here they are.
1. The Titans have enjoyed a resurgence since starting the season 0-6. Is this due just to the change at quarterback from Kerry Collins to Vince Young, or is there more to the recent turnaround?
MCM: The QB changes has helped because Vince Young has played very efficiently where Collin...

Vince Young's Return to the Titans' Lineup Was Triumphant and Misleading

Titans owner Bud Adams reportedly flexed his fiscal muscles last week and forced Jeff Fisher's hand on the Vince Young front. The Titans, at 0-6, didn't stand to lose anything by going with their 26-year-old QB over Kerry Collins. Collins has a QB rating of 62 on the season and at age 36, it's pretty well established he isn't the future.

The early results of the Vince Young swap proved profitable. The Titans won, and Young was efficient, going 15-for-18 with one touchdown ...

Veteran QB’s rarely come as magnanimous as Tennessee’s Kerry Collins. After a 59-0 loss to New England and having compiled a historic minus-7 yards passing for the afternoon, Collins refused to take personal responsibility for the staggering defeat when quizzed afterward, with quotes supplied by the Tennessean’s Jim Wyatt and David Climer :

From Kerry Collins' struggles to the poor play of the defense, the adversities surrounding the 0-4 Tennessee Titans have received the majority of attention and rightfully so. Lost amid the negative headlines has been the emergence of first-year wide receiver Kenny Britt. One of the lone bright spots on this year's surprisingly inept Titan team, Britt is leading all NFL rookies in receptions and receiving yards. Let's take some time to show some appreciation for Britt's stellar...

Kerry Collins returns to the Meadowlands

In my last post, I noted that Kevin Mawae will be returning to New York to face his former team, the Jets. (The game will actually be played at the Meadowlands in East Rutherford, New Jersey.) It will also be a homecoming of sorts for Kerry Collins, who quarterbacked the Giants from 1999-2003.

Much has been made of the swirling gusts of wind at the Meadowlands so I thought it would be interesting to run a check on Collins' stats in Giants Stadium, where the Titans will play today.

Kerry Collins was sharp and Vince Young tentative for the Tennessee Titans in overshadowing Terrell Owens' debut for the Buffalo Bills.

With a little trickery and a solid performance by the Collins-led starting offense, Tennessee opened the preseason with a 21-18 win in the Hall of Fame game on Sunday night.
