Celtics 87- Jazz 56 Day 1 in Orlando

The Celtics first summer league game ended in a rout. Here are some impressions from the game vs the Jazz: Bill Walker and JR Giddens both played well. Walker still has a penchant for hard fouls and ended up fouling out but showed some good things as he scored 14 points on 5-9 shooting to go with 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals in 21 minutes. The best player of the game in my opinion was JR Giddens who finished with 10 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 1 block in 32 minutes. At t...

Mickey Mouse league

Greetings from Orlando, Fla., where things are going to be a little different for the Jazz in summer league this July. With the Rocky Mountain Revue meeting its end, the Jazz will play five games in five days this week as part of a six-team league hosted by the Magic. It's going to be interesting to see just how different things are compared to the Revue. For one thing, instead of playing in front of packed houses at Salt Lake Communi...

D-League Players - Who Fits?

[Ed. Note: Bullets Forever commenter and Ridiculous Upside contributor Jon L delivers some great analysis of some players from the D-League who might be able to help out next year. The Wizards haven't used their D-League resources much since its inception, but with the team looking to stay competitive and find contributors on the cheap, this might be the time to start using it more. -Jake]

Filthy Sign Language Lessons With Rick Majerus

In the book, called “Longshot: The Adventures of a Deaf Fundamentalist Mormon Kid and His Journey to the NBA,” Lance Allred repeats his claim that Majerus told him that he was “a disgrace to cripples” and that if he was “a cripple in a wheelchair and saw you play basketball, I’d shoot myself.” But Allred also goes on to note that if Majerus might have been incredibly insensitive, he also at least took the time to learn sign language. Even if the application was somewhat dubious.

With the additions of J.J. Hickson, Mo Williams, Tarence Kinsey and the recent re-signing of Delonte West, the Cleveland Cavaliers are now 15-players deep. Unfortunately, this means the end of two of last season's 15, Lance Allred and Billy Thomas...

Step Off The Ledge, Cavs Fans

Take a look at the facts. The Cavaliers were selecting at #19 in the draft last night. Marquee players are rarely found at #19 or lower. When you look at the All-Star teams last year, on the Eastern Conference side, every single player was taken in the top 10. On the Western Conference side, only Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, David West, and Carlos Boozer were drafted outside the top 10, and even then, only Boozer was taken below #19.

Here are some other facts. Lance Allred is an undrafted free...

D-League Affiliation: A "Unique" Situation

I have to be honest. Scouring the NBA D-League for news and notes is not exactly at the top of my day-to-day blogging list. But thanks to the fellas at Ridiculous Upside, I no longer have to.

Yesterday, the D-League - the same league that brought us Billy Thomas and Lance Allred - announced the affiliation system for the 2008-09 season. And while most teams have their "affiliations" split between two NBA franchises, it just so happens that our partner is none other than the Phil...

A Look a the Celtics 2nd Round Opponent

Here is a look at the Celtics 2nd round opponent, the Cleveland Cavaliers. This is a team that is much different from the very athletic Hawks. They are a team that leans heavily on their superstar but also have other talented players on the team. There is a subplot to this series in that two of the Cavaliers' starters were starting for the Celtics last season. Another player, Dwayne Jones, who comes off the bench is also is a former Celtic. Here is a look at the Cleveland Cavaliers and wh...
