Brian Moehler: Am I Missing Something Here?

The Astros have picked up Brian Moehler's option for 2010 for $3 million dollars. Wait, what? The Astros informed Brian Moehler today that they plan to pick up their portion of the mutual option they hold on the righthander for 2010.Moehler, who had right knee partial lateral meniscectomy to remove loose particles from his knee Monday, has the right to decline the $3 million contract. The Astros had until the fifth day after the World Series to exercise the option or pay Moehler a $250,000...

Miguel Tejada's Noodle Arm Exacerbates Brian Moehler's Lousy Pitching

Moehler wasn't exactly sharp in the first, needing 6 pitches to K Stubbs, 6 pitches to get Janish to FO to Bourn, throwing 6 pitches to Votto before he golfed an inside sinker into the RF stands.
He was even less sharp in the second - struck out Bruce, then gave up consecutive singles before getting Hannigan to ground out. Then with men on second and third, he got 2 quick strikes on the pitcher, then just could NOT throw another strike, and walked him.
Then stuff happened. Stubbs grounded...

Brian Moehler had another solid outing, which continues to frustrate just about everyone who wanted to write him off at some point or another during that last two years. His line of 6IP, 2R (2ER), 4K, 3BB, 101 pitches (59 strikes), 13 GB, 3 FB, was a standard Moehler effort. With defense and offense both coming through for him, Moehler secured a win en r...

He'll go against Brian Moehler who has a 5.29 ERA this year but, for his career, is 5-0 w/ a 3.84 ERA against the Cards. I place no stock in that whatsoever b/c we're only talking about 61 career innings and we're dealing w/ different hit...

Mitchell Boggs was roused out of a deep sleep to take his team photo. The Cardinals are bringing in the sixth starter, but this is definitely a winnable game—Brian Moehler's big season, the one that's kept him gainfully employed all these years, came in 1998. Of course, he's also 5-0 in his career against the Cardinals, and you can be sure La Russa knows that.

Carlos Lee Hits 3 Run Homer To Win Game For Brian Moehler

Carlos must have heard me grousing about his hitting for a high average without hitting for power or driving in runs in July - only 4 doubles, 1 homer and 5 RBIs until today. So in the 4th, after Moehler had given up 2 runs, Lohse gave up an IF single to Miggy, then walked Lance on 4 straight. He then threw a nice FB at the knees, which Carlos fouled off, then an inside sinker at the knees which Carlos then golfed into the Crawford Boxes for a 3 run homer. It looked like a high popup, but it ...

I caught most of this game on the radio, which means I really have no idea what took place, but I do know all 1,357 groups that were out at the ball park. Seriously, someone needs to tell the radio guys that people listening on the radio don't know what's going on. I did hear a lot of shouting with Kaz Matsui's home run, though.

Their presence on the club speaks for itself."

GM Ed Wade was smart to get these two contracts out of the way, mostly because it will allow him to focus on bigger, more pressing issues in the off season.

Cubs lose in 9th

Just a couple of things. Lilly pitched a very good game. Fukudome needs to be moved down to the 8th spot in the order. He is not good at baseball. Zambrano's offensive VORP is almost equal to Fukudome's in 330 fewer plate appearances. Brian Moehler pitched around Ryan fucking Theriot with a runner on 2nd to face Fukudome. Very good defender, but sucks ass at the plate.
