Last year we debuted the “Highs and Lows” system — previewing the NBA season by predicting the respective ceiling and basement for each team. Same theme, different season…
Added: Jrue Holiday, Jason Kapono, Rodney Carney
Lost: Andre Miller, Reggie Evans, Donyell Marshall, Theo Ratliff, Kareem Rush
Ceiling: 5th seed, Eastern Conference
Without too much roster turnover, this is kind [...]

76ers re-sign Carney 1 year after trading him

The Philadelphia 76ers have signed free agent swingman Rodney Carney a year after trading him.

The 76ers signed the former first-round pick on Tuesday. Carney spent last season with the Minnesota Timberwolves, averaging 7.2 points and 1.9 rebounds in 67 games, including six starts.

The 76ers acquired Carney in a draft-night trade in 2006 after he was selected 16th overall by Chicago. After two seasons with the Sixers, Philadelphia traded him to Minnesota along with Calvin Booth in July ...

News From the Front: Rodney Carney Gets Back to Where He Once Belonged

I always liked Rodney Carney. As you may recall, the Memphis swingman spent a couple of seasons with the Sixers rather recetnly, traded from the Bulls on draft night in 2006 for our pick of Thabo Sefolosha, and getting dumped to the Timberwolves in 2009 to make cap space for the Elton Brand signing. I thought Carney got a raw deal then--he was just starting to come into his own as one of the Sixers' key bench guys. Well, the Sixers apparently were at least man enough to admit their mista...

Carney Rejoins The 76ers

The 76ers have agreed to terms with forward Rodney Carney, according to a source familiar with the situation. Carney, a 6-foot-6 forward, has agreed to a one-year deal for the fourth-year minimum of $855,189, giving the Sixers 13 players under contract for the 2009-10 season.
Carney, who played collegiately at Memphis, played his first two professional seasons [...]

The Sixers bring back Rodney Carney

With the Phillies in the thick of a pennant run and the Eagles about set to kickoff, I wouldn't blame you if you forgot we have a professional basketball team here in Philadelphia. To be fair, the Sixers have done little in the last few months to catch our attention and get us excited about the NBA season that begins in less than two months. In fact, pretty much all the Sixers have done in the last 4 months is stock up on bench players. After picking up Primoz Brezec and Royal Ivey this o...

Rodney Carney a Sixer Again

Tom Moore is reporting that the Sixers are on the verge of signing ex-Sixer wing man Rodney Carney to the veteran's minimum.

This isn't really a surprise. Carney's name was floated around as a possible addition to the wing for the Sixers. There are better players out there who are available but given the Sixers decision to avoid long-term deals and over extended themselves with additional salary.

Like the pick up? Dislike it? Don't care either way?

The hero this game was Rodney Carney again, a player who has been disrespected by Sixers fans a lot throughout the season. Rodney Carney has been incredible in the last two games.

Iguodala still unsigned, Sixers exercise option on Carney

The Sixers have until midnight tonight to work out a contract extension with Iguodala or else they'll have to wait until the summer, when Iguodala becomes a restricted free agent (the Sixers would have the right to match any offer). Hopefully the two sides can work out a deal or else Iguodala's stock should skyrocket this season, increasing his price tag tremendously.
