His return also creates a log jam at guard that head coach Vinny del Negro will have to deal with. Second year forward/center Joakim Noah will also miss about a week of camp with an eye injury.

Gordon Signs One Year Tender Offer

I read today that Ben Gordon of the Chicago Bulls plans on signing his one year tender offer and make it to the first day of training camp. I am excited to hear about this because I think he and Derrick Rose will combine to make a very lethal scoring duo in the NBA. There have been a number of NBA players that have already raved about Rose and his ability to penetrate and create for his teammates. On a team with shooters like Gordon and Luol Deng and a finisher like Tyrus Thomas I am excited once again to be a Bulls fan.

There are some down sides that Chicago will have to work through and that is the ugly contracts of Kirk Hinrich, Larry Hughes, and Andres Nocioni. These three players combine for a salary of over $32 million a year and they will largely have roles coming off the bench. The only contract that I could blame Paxson for is with Nocioni. He may have paid Hinrich too much but at the time he was our leader and only true point guard. We have Hughes at the cost of getting rid of Big Ben. Paxson paid too much for Nocioni especially knowing that we had Luol Deng. Back up small forwards should not be getting over $8 million per year.

The good thing is that Hinrich and Nocioni do have trade value. I wouldn't be surprised if Denver offers the expiring contract of Allen Iverson to Chicago for Hinrich and Nocioni. This possibility only has a chance if Denver fails to do well this season. Denver is in cost cutting mode though after their trade to get rid of Camby so I may not be on to something after all.

Either way you look at it though, the signing of Ben Gordon to a one year deal is a nice move by Paxson. I applaud him for not over paying yet another one of his draft picks. He has still given Chicago fans still have reasons to cheer this year!
