Bye bye Biedrins?

there seems to be talks between the pistons and the warriors. the talks include a trade of biedrins for billups. the warriors dont really want to let him go but they are offering al harrington. that deals makes more sense than letting go biedrins who has a bright future ahead of him. and billups could be a good bak up for monte. dont really think billups could be a starter for the warriors kinda play. but his experience could help all the developing warrior players. but knowing nellie, anything could happen.

Turiaf Signs Warriors Offer Sheet

The article says Turiaf is expected to sign Warriors offer sheet. Scratch the expected part.
He done did it. Lakers are not expected to match due to that little luxury tax thingie.

Is this to fill a void that would be left after dealing Al to the Grizz? I'm just sayin....

Let's go get us a POINT GUARD!

12 Non-Rookies to Watch in Summer League (Western Conference edition)

Rookies tend to get most of the hoopla during Summer League action, but the reality is that very few of them will make an immediate fantasy impact. So here are a few non-rookies to look out for.

Not all of them are worth drafting, but all have the potential to put up nice numbers if they continue to improve and the opportunity presents itself.

Some non-rookies who looked great in Summer League 2007 and carried that momentum into the regular season include: Louis Williams, Francisco Garcia, Kelenna Azubuike, and Jason Maxiell (all had solid fantasy value at some point last season).

Whats next for the Golden State Warriors>

Well, the team has started with the right plan. The Warriors have swung for the fences with the other star free agents out there, offering their pile of cap space to Gilbert Arenas and Brand; Arenas seems nearly certain to say no, but Brand will at least ponder an offer worth $20 million more than the Clippers are bringing to the table.

If Brand takes the Warriors' offer, it will be an ironic reversal of the loss of Davis to L.A. earlier this week. On the other hand, the Brand-Davis dual free agency seemed so unusually well choreographed that it's hard to imagine Brand landing in Golden State.

So let's suppose that one falls short, too. In that case, the Warriors have a few options. First, they can make a run at restricted free agents, with Josh Smith likely the first choice, given Atlanta's bumbling ownership. They'd overpay him, but to nab a restricted free agent, a team almost has to.

Second, Golden State can go after the other top unrestricted free agent, Corey Maggette. He doesn't fit a need necessarily, but he can really score, and Don Nelson always has found uses for players like that. And Maggette probably would use only about half of the Warriors' available cap room, leaving enough space to make a run at another quality player through either free agency or trade.

The latter might be the more promising alternative. The Warriors are far enough under the cap that they could, for instance, just trade a second-round pick to New Jersey for Vince Carter (not that I've heard this, mind you … I'm just saying). A number of other trades are available, too -- it would just depend on which other team's unwanted contract they wished to take on and how cheaply they could get it.

As for the specific void at point guard left by Davis' departure, the Warriors have one other option if nothing else works out -- a seemingly too-sensible-not-to-happen swap of Al Harrington to Chicago for Kirk Hinrich.

L.A. BOOM!

By now you've heard the great news - Baron Davis verbally agreed to a 5 year deal with the Clippers worth an estimated $65 million. This coming less than 24 hours after he shocked Warriors fans when he opted out of a contract that would have brought him a little more than $17 million next year.

Sorry, Warrior fans. But honestly, this probably worked out for the best. The Dubs still need to extend guys like Monta, and Baron's contract made it extremely difficult for management to make any roster improvements. If the Warriors ended up extending Baron's contract, they'd only find themselves deeper in the hole. Now with Baron out of the Bay Area, they've got some breathing room, and they still keep a young core of Monta Ellis - Marco Bellinelli - Al Harrington, not to mention second-year forward Brandan Wright and rookie Anthony Randolph. Who knows? It might seem like a longshot, but maybe they'll find themselves in position to make a play for someone like LeBron James or Dwyane Wade when they hit free agency.

Now that the Warriors fans have been consoled - or just hate my guts - how about those Clips?!? The reason I love this move is because it was the ONLY rational move the Clippers could make. It's not often the Clippers make rational moves. Look, I know, fans shouldn't be overjoyed when their team does little more than make a "rational" decision. Let me see if I can explain this...

When your franchise has competent management - the A's who have GM Billy Beane, for example - any time a "rational" decision is made, that's just another Tuesday. But when you're a Clipper fan? "Rational" decisions are like Christmas if Christmas only came on leap years. Remember when everyone got so excited about that autistic kid who hit a few 3's in a high school game? Do you think everyone would have been excited if he wasn't autistic, but rather a 6'5 physical specimen? Of course not. But signing Baron Davis makes the Clippers look like that autistic kid, only if he was also blind, an amputee, and narcoleptic. In fact, I think Disney is picking up the phone right now to buy the movie rights to this contract.

Will Baron lead the Clippers to a championship? Probably not. But they should get into the Playoffs, as long as everyone stays relatively healthy - as Clipper fan, I'll accept Playoffs...baby steps. As much as the Clippers have become the butt of every joke in the NBA, this is a talented roster. I mean, they made the Playoffs just a couple years ago with Sam Cassell running the point. I don't care who you are or what planet you're from, but Baron Davis >>>>>>>>>>>>> Sam Cassell. Assuming Elton Brand re-ups following the Boom signing, this is what the starting lineup should look like:

PG - Baron Davis (2007/2008: 21.8 ppg, 7.6 apg, 4.7 rebounds)
SG - Cuttino Mobley (2007/2008: 12.8 ppg, 2.6 apg, 3.5 rebounds)
OR SG: Eric Gordon (2007/2008: 20.9 ppg, 2.4 apg, 3.3 rebounds)
SF - Al Thornton (2007/2008: 12.7 ppg, 1.2 apg, 4.5 rebounds)
PF - Elton Brand (2006/2007: 20.5 ppg, 2.9 apg, 9.4 rebounds)
C - Chris Kaman (2007/2008: 15.7 ppg, 1.9 apg, 12.7 rebounds

There's not much to NOT like there.

GSW Team Source: Pistons Interested in Baron and Big Al?

According to the Contra Costa Times, a Bay Area newspaper, the Pistons are talking to the Warriors about a trade including Billups and Davis. Baron stated that he wanted to stay in the Bay Area, but from dissapointing offersto his contract....it could happen. It is said that Detroit is willing to trade Billups and Wallace after what happended in the Eastern Conference Finals .Rasheed and Baron are both unrestricted free agents in the 08-09 season. The trade would send Billups and Sheed to the Bay Area and the Pistons would aquire Baron Davis and Al Harrington. Rasheed would fit the Warriors offensive presence with shooting the 3-ball, but will see what happens!!!!!

Is Othella moving???

Al Harrington, who recently switched agents -- from Arn Tellem to Dan Fegan might not mind a change of scenery. But Chris Mullin seemed lukewarm to such a move, and league sources believe the Warriors, who would be down to just one Nellie-trusted big man (Andris Biedrins) without Harrington, won't move him without getting a legitimate player in return.

"Hmm ... under contract, heck of a player, I anticipate him being here," Mullin said. "Al's played a lot of different positions throughout his career, and that's real valuable, especially for us. -- San Francisco Chronicle

Harrington most likley Warriors trade chip

From the chronicle and si.com "f the Warriors let their exception expire and still want to add a big name without increasing payroll - Rasheed Wallace, Chauncey Billups, Shawn Marion, Richard Jefferson and Michael Redd also are likely to be on the block, albeit at heftier prices - then Al Harrington could be the player most likely to move. The Warriors simply don't have many tradeable assets if they are committed to keeping Monta Ellis, Andris Biedrins and Wright. Baron Davis is the franchise player. Mickael Pietrus and Matt Barnes are unrestricted free agents and thus available to any bidder. Stephen Jackson is coming off a brilliant season, but is still too risky for most GMs. That leaves Harrington, who will make a little more than $9 million next season, as a natural trade chip. The 6-foot-9 forward never made a big deal about riding coach Don Nelson's roller coaster last season, but clearly felt he was underutilized - a multi-dimensional big man often reduced to being a three-point shooter and scape-goat for the Warriors' rebounding deficiencies." I'd love the dubs to add someone but i dont see how Al and not much else to trade will get the Dubs a big. Throw out some suggestions....

Top 30 NBA Power Forwards

Tim Duncan is the best power forward in the game and one of the best ever to play. Able to play both forward and center, he can dominate whoever he plays on both sides of the floor. Not only that, he steps up his game in the playoffs with 24.8 PPG, 13.8 RPG and 2.4 BPG. He might be boring to watch, but you can't argue with 4 championships. 3 more positions left to cover.

Brandon Bass (DAL) , Jason Maxiell (DET), Antonio McDyess (DET), Carl Landry (HOU)

Some of these players don't just play the PF, but they can play SF too. Josh Smith, Rashard Lewis, Danny Granger, Ryan Gomes, they played SF until the occasion called up. Smith played PF a lot and is matched up with KG in the playoffs. Lewis and Hedo Turkoglu are interchangable with it comes to the 3 and 4 spots. Granger has even started as a shooting guard and Gomes went big when Al Jefferson started as a center. It just shows you how interchangable the NBA is now.

Meet your 2008-2009 Warriors…for now

No, Adonal Foyle will not be playing center for the Warriors next year, so you can breathe your sigh of relief right now. Unfortunately, and for some inexplicable reason, his original contract figure with the W's will still count next year. Lucky for Chris Mullin and the organization, the team holds an option for the 2009-2010 season. Hopefully, they'll cut him then, but you never can tell with the Warriors.

Warriors fall out of playoffs with loss to Nuggets

The Golden State Warriors have dropped to the 9th spot in the West after their 119-112 loss to the Nuggets last night. It was a close game, but some have to question why Nellie kept going with the small ball lineup (Harrington and Jackson in the frontcourt) especially when Kenyon Martin was going off. Martin had 30 points and 11 rebounds, but when Andris Biedrins was in the game he couldn't do anything. Nellie sometimes falls too much in love with being cute instead of playing smart.
