Sixers sign Speights, working on Louis Williams contract

Lost in the shuffle of the excitement over the Eagles training camp, a few bits of Sixers news has fallen through the cracks. Well, it's better late than never. First, the Sixers signed first-round pick Marreese Speights. Second, the Sixers are working on a new contract with Louis Williams.

Sixers sign Royal Ivey, "Nut-puncher"

The Sixers have yet to take care of their two restricted free agent guards, Andre Iguodala and Lou Williams, but they are still working to fill out their roster, signing guard Royal Ivey to a 2 year contract. Ivey spent last season with the Milwaukee Bucks after starting his career with the Atlanta Hawks and has developed into a solid defensive player off the bench. He doesn't put up great offensive numbers (he averaged a career-high 5.6 points per game last season) but he is a decent role player.

Click the link for Royal Ivey's career stats.

Not a bad depth signing, but how about signing Iggy and Lou now?

Keep Your Picks: Blazers vs. 76ers (Round One, Game Fourteen)

In the final game of round one, the Blazers, very similar to their actual team, have a nice collection of young talent. However, it's tough to pass up a lineup of A.I., Larry Hughes and Andre Iguodala with good depth behind them. Someday the Blazers will be a legit contender. Don't expect it to be today, though.

Expert Picks:

Pickard: Philadelphia 76ers

Estimated Game Time: Wednesday July 23 (4 PM EST)

The Clippers Ruined Restricted Free Agency for Everybody :(

The Clippers started rocking the boat on Tuesday by trading for Marcus Camby but what began as ripples on the west coast grew into tidal waves on the east. The Clippers may have changed the futures of a handful of players and franchises by snatching up Camby for a second round pick, an IOU for a massage, and a dirty sock...[continued]

The Warriors are interested in Lou Williams

The Golden State Warriors have some cap space to play with, so they are honing in on a Sixers guard who is a restricted free agent. No, they don't want Andre Iguodala, but, according to Marc Stein of ESPN.com, they apparently are looking into signing Louis Williams to an offer sheet.

While the Sixers have publicly said they would match any offer sheet given to either Williams or Iguodala, the Warriors might have enough cap space to offer Williams a bloated contract that the Sixers would think twice about matching. Williams makes plenty of sense for the Warriors due to the instant offense and no defense he provides, sort of like a very poor man's Baron Davis.

Expect the Sixers to hold on to Williams if the contract offer is reasonable. Williams is a key bench player and could eventually take over at point when Andre Miller leaves.

I RECENTLY HEARD A RUMOR THAT THE SIXERS ARE TALKING TO THE HOUSTON ROCKETS ABOUT POSSIBLY TRADING ANDRE IGUODOLA AND REGGIE EVANS FOR TRACY McGRADY. OF COURSE IT'S A RUMOR, BUT I WANTED TO KNOW IF ANYONE ELSE HAS HEARD ANYTHING ABOUT THIS......

Andre Iguodala as good as Baron Davis???

Word on the street is that Iggy is asking for a 5 year, 65 mil deal... Is he serious? After shooting less than 25% in the playoffs? Ok... you have improved each year... you did average 20 ppg, 5 rpg, and 5 apg... and you are only 24 and can jump out of the gym... but com' on...

So what you're tellin' me is that you're as good as Baron Davis??? Please... just sign the contract... or try and solicit for the Grizzlies to sign you... cause they are the only ones that have that type of money... and if you dont sign... then just sign the tender so that you can be a unrestricted free agent next year... and we will see how many offers you get with everybody going after Lebron and D-wade...

Here are some other players that arent making 13 mil, that are better than you or at least just as good... Gerald Wallace (8.2), Josh Howard (10), Tayshaun Prince (9.5), Richard Hamilton (10.5), Corey Maggette (10), Rudy Gay (2.5), Mike Miller (9), David West (9.8), L. Barbosa (6.1), Kevin Martin (9.2), Ron Artest (8.4), Tony Parker (11.5), Manu Ginobli (10), Carlos Boozer (11.5), Caron Butler (9)... and I could continue but what is the point...

Sign the contract... the offer is probably exactly what youre worth and maybe a little more!!!

Clippers Trade For Camby, Out Of Running For Iguodala

The Los Angeles Clippers traded for Denver Nuggets' center Marcus Camby Tuesday. In return, Denver receives the option to trade second round picks with Los Angeles in the 2010 NBA draft. Camby is considered one of the premier defensive players in the league, leading the NBA in blocks with 3.61 a game last year.

More importantly, this means that the Clippers are no longer in a financial position to pursue restricted free agent forward Andre Iguodala. The Clippers were the most active team pursuing the Sixers' star.

Last off-season, Iguodala rejected a five year, $57 million offer from the Sixers. He is reportedly asking for a five year, $65 million deal.

Nuggets trade Marcus Camby for... what?!?!

Let's see, how much is a seven-footer worth? Not much, you say? What if that seven-footer is a still-productive center and a former Defensive Player of the Year? What if he averaged at least 3.0 blocks per game in each of the last four seasons? How about a minimum of 11.6 rebounds per game over the last three? Did I mention his amazingly affordable contract (two years, $15.7 million)?

So, how much is he worth?

Well, the Nuggets have decided that Marcus Camby is worth the right to swap future second round picks.

WHAT?!?

That's right, the Nuggets have traded Camby to the Clippers, and that's all they got. There are trades that are head-scratchers and there are trades that are simply mind-boggling. Like the Pau Gasol trade earlier this season, this particular trade is the latter.

Rumors Rumors Rumors...PointBreak seriously>>

Rumors are annoying like listening to Lil Wayne's songs ( sorry Lil Wayne fans, I jumped off his bandwagon years ago but i like some his songs) or as annnoying as hearing Stephen A Smith/Sean Salisbury rant about the nonsense their spitting out. If I didnt make a better analogy sorry. Rumors are what we want to believe to be true but in all actuality the chance of it happening is slim to say the least. Here is a list of couple rumors I saw throughout the Yard. Not to say all rumors were bad, but it gets to a pt where I feel like fantasy is roaming in some peoples brain more than reality/truth. If I was involved in this Rumors Charade I would have a couple articles already on Marbury being sent off to Mars or Iraq for Sam Cassell's genes or a couple WMDS. O w8 my bad there aint no WMD;s in Iraq. Anyways here is a list of couple rumors i saw-----Sixers fans were OD'ng no joke----

Ben Gordon to the Sixers-ditto from below

Baron Davis to the Sixers--some dummies were seriously saying this even after dude joined Clippers

Shawn Marion to the Lakers- for Odom and Mihm-->Heat taking Odom back for a vengence, only chance that happening is if Bad Boys 3 comes out

Shawn Marion to the Sixers- no comment

Lebron James to NY or NJ--2010 hes going to the Knicks or NEts...hahah in my dreams...

Jason Collins--> to Phoenix Suns for Pat Burke, yes some sad soul mentioned this blockbuster proposal...one of the funniest ones ive seen.. Yea I said that proposal by the way...

Okafor to Nuggets---Sounds reasonable since Cambyland left to Compton and play for the Clippers. Enver Nuggets need Okafor to put the D back in Denver..

Chauncey Billups to the Sixers-->who sixers giving up reggie evens and louis williams. lets be serious..Billups is so media overrated its ridicoulous..Louie Williams is the future for Sixers..Yea I said it Billups is OVErated...Where was he in the last two years in the playoffs, with Commentators always saying mr big shot, dude was shooting DUDS...Its Rodney Stuckey TIME in Detroit!!!

Andre Iguodala to Clippers- IDK y this was proposed by someone, who would Clippers give, Tim Thomas and Cuttino hahah

Monta Ellis to the Knicks-->um what would GSW be thinking, Unless Marbury is going to Warriors hahahah.....

Zach Randolph to the Clippers-->for Eric Gordon..Yea Im pretty sure the Clippers want the Black Marshmellow Man to play for them...

Darius Miles landing anywhere-he was in a MTV movie, stereotypical role called PErfect Score....I think his rumors are the best to be honest cause hes such a doofus acting..

Stephon Marbury to the Celtics (Ok Paul Pierce, obviously you want a backup point guard and would love to see Marbury destroy the KNicks)==Stephon Marbury is almost out of NY with the Knicks signing some dude Roberson who had one breakout summer league game...Typical pathetic Knicks see one gr8 game, History repeats itself they did it with Jerome James now with Roberson...and Marbury has to pay and peace out...Thats not Kosher...

A couple off NBA RUmors

AROD AND MADONNA-->no comment, actually AROD are you serious!!!

Barack Obama and Michelle Obama on the New Yorker--->what was that crap all about...

Gas Prices are Going Down...thats what our gr8 president said but then again who actually believes what he says....Note Im not a real fan of poltiicians since they seem to talk n talk and not make this world a better place...not being Anti either so relax....

You get the point...I believe im at Point Break with all the ludicrous rumors Ive been reading and laughing at. But everyone is entitled to their opinion....So enjoy some clips that in a way are how I feel....From various movies what not....Keanu Reeves and Gary Busey...

Ok... so the Clippers got a Elton Brand replacement... yeah right... But they did manage to pick up Marcus Camby for only a 2nd rd pick. So Iggy just sign the doggon extention so we can move on!!! Nobody worth anything can sign you... you can not and will not have the career that you have in Philly any where else... so hurry up and sign!!!
